Yup, there's a break in period in which it gains the HP. Try it on a Nascar, I think they wind up gaining some 55Hp over that time.

It's amazing what a draft will do for you, though I do think it has been slightly exaggerated in the game.

Engine rebuilds only need to be done: When you have bought a car from the UCD, or when an oil change doesn't regain lost horsepower from racing. I give my cars a engine rebuild after about 800 miles. That's usually when my engine gives out and starts to loose HP.

The only way a used car will not gain power after a rebuild is if it didn't need it, in the first place. I have several Shelby GT350s and have rebuilt three of them. All gained power.

That's because the 0-mile cars in the online dealership are already broken in. At least that was the way it was with the FGT I bought. Changed the oil in it and the HP was at 936 (or whatever the max is, no at home currently.)

To bad the slip stream in GT5 gives you an extra 300HP while racing. :sly:

I saw a bicyclist riding a bike on level ground at 55 to 60 mph.

The fastest I have ever ridden on level ground is approaching 30 mph. I've coasted downhill at about 30 mph. When I tried to peddal I was only able to improve my speed by about 3 mph.

the guy that rode the bike at 55 to 60 mph was in the vacuum of a tent built off the back end of a van to eliminate wind induced drag.

90% of the peddal effort required to achieve 20 mph on a bicycle is to offset the resistance of the air.

Believe it. The draft can greatly increase your speed. I don't think it's overmodeled in game.

Bicycles and cars are two different things my friend and indeed a slip stream will increase your speed but nothing like GT5's.

A Toyota Prius will hit 200+ MPH on SSR7 with a slip stream and without one it'll barley do 130, do you really think that's realistic? :odd:

Well, after reading the link above about the cyclist riding in a draft and hitting 152MPH, I'm thinking that an additional 70MPH from a fast car's draft would let the Prius go that fast, provided the trans was geared low enough to wind out that far.

On a sidenote, I'd hate to wipe out on a bicycle while going 152MPH! :nervous:

Yeah...he wasn't even wearing motorcycle gear...

I mean, you have to consider that the pace dragster was giving the cyclist a pretty darn fantabulous draft. But since a cyclist is really only capable of putting down a max of 1hp, and it would probably take about 100hp otherwise to get to 150mph (I think most 100hp motorcycles can crest 150mph) that cyclist was gaining close to the equivalent of 99hp by drafting. Oh and cyclists also tire.

Believe me when I say that the slip stream in this game is unrealistic.
