Hi guys, I debated whether to add the link into one of the (many) other NFS S2U threads here or start my own, but since I'll be posting another in a few days I went for the latter option.

Got a review copy of S2U through the post today for the website I write for, so here are my quick impressions on the game. A full review should follow by Monday.

Need For Speed Shift 2 Unleashed: First Impressions

Thoughts? I've seen mixed opinions so far, 've only had a few hours gameplay and I think I've been impressed and disappointed in equal measure. Monday's review should be a bit more in-depth and draw more comparisons with GT5.

Why comparing with only with gt5? Why not Forza to? I still think these games are different in the way they approach driving/racing so its not fair for each at some point or another...

Just asking.

+1. GT5 = Driving simulator. S2U = Racing simulator.

GT5 is all about the feel of the car, S2U is all about the feeling of adrenaline filled competitive racing... big difference.

Because I only have a PS3, I'm reviewing the PS3 version, and it's the most obvious comparison. They're two of the biggest driving titles on the PS3 so it makes sense to compare them as a lot of PS3 owners (and those who are driving enthusiasts) are likely to want to play one or the other.

I'm aware that GT5 is more driving biased and Shift is more racing biased, but then that's the beauty of comparison ;) If they were identical there wouldn't be much to compare, would there?...

Unlike the driving genre's killer app...

"Killer app" is probably my absolute least favorite new tech phrase. Ignoring that, you get points for actually using what appear to be your own screen shots. Lots of reviews seem to reuse the same tired press-shots and clips from trailers.

Yeah, I was loathe to use "killer app" but couldn't think of a better (not less clichéd) phrase.

And you're right, I did my own screenshots. It was an enormous pain in the backside to do so, but since the game lets you take your own, it's a bit half-assed to re-use publicity shots.

Well i played enough Shift 2 now,and i give it 9/10 as a game and 2/10 as a simulator.

Graphics are an improvement for a NFS game,u never get bored racing in this game and is pretty fun,i think i will not touch GT5 for a long time now.

Good in overall and about that simulator part, this game is far away from being a simulator, has nothing to do with a sim.

Oh,damages in S2
