Shift 2 Unleashed car list

Site has absolutely zero credibility.

Ahh, at least they're new admitting they had absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever for the last "car list" they published there. Nice one. I like how, World Weekly News style, the explanation is switched over to "we were right, but, then they sneakily did something else that made our prediction turn out wrong!". Yes. Surely events conspired to just make it look very much like they're talking out of their arse.

Here's a list of cars and tracks seen in preview build screenshots or mentioned by people doing hands on tests - http://forum.needforspeed.com/eaforum/posts/list/4697688.page, which I'm pretty sure they lifted just about anything actually correct from, uncredited.

Hmmm, I'm very wary of them.

The Supra and AE86 are missing for starters (probably more, I only looked briefly), and I'd be really hoping the BMW E30 M3 would be in there for Shift 2, considering they'll have the 'old vs new' events...

This looks bona fide. I had a copy of PTOM with two screen shots: one featured the '67 Stang GT, another major one featured the Maserati MC12. With Vitaphone markings.

Anyways, when Shift 2 gets to Newfoundland I'm getting it.

Fake. BADNED has compiled the most accurate so far.

Now that we are a little bit more then two months away from this fantastic racer lets kick off with a work in progress car and track list. As always with such lists they are based on officially provided info and media. Will be updated regularly until EA reveals the full one.

One thing to bear in mind - if we work from "every car is works convertible" as discussed in previews - if you see a race car of something there is probably a road car, if you see a road car there is probably a race car of it.

So that should mean that a road/race version is counted as one car, and there are 140 unique vehicles :) None of this '7 race variants of the NSX' as 7 different cars...

I want to see what classes the non-FIA cars come under once works converted...

I don't know if that's how the car count works marketing wise, but I think it is a safe assumption that - for example - there will be a Z4 roadcar.

At least they won't count different liveried cars of the same model as extra cars :P

What's interesting about 'all cars works convertible' is cars like the MC12, which really don't change too much to the GT1 version...

I'm also wondering if the F430 Scuderia GT3 will be on all platforms, given the licensing problems with Ferrari in Shift... Hopefully the GT3 license gets around that.

Hope they don't count the night version of a track as a different track either.

Looking forward to this, only a matter of time till they get it right. A bit like the Fifa/Pes wars a few years ago. Pes was always the superior game until they finally got there finger out of there arse.

Here's to hoping this is it.

Didn't Shift 1 have a Ferrari pack. But it was only available on Xbox 360.

I'm not sure I'd count identical cars with different liveries as different cars. Seems a bit down'spec-ed compared to Shift in the car count, I fear.

Then, how do you get ~100 track layouts from a mere 12 circuits? Again, much from Shift is missing.

^ The different liveries remark was a poke at GT5, where they've done exactly that :P

The above list is incomplete, we don't have the final track (or car) list yet, but from the hands-on previews they've repeatedly stated they were impressed with the number of tracks. You'd have to guess that the full FIA GT1/3 track roster is there for starters...

I hope so, watched some GT1 highlights a month back, they were racing on what looked like a fantasy track. Mountain pass like sections with trees and drops. South America perhaps? Want to drive it.

EDIT, San Luis, http://gt1world.com/calendar/circuit/san-luis

Still likely the license issues from Shift 1 are in place. It's alright, though... you still get Porsche, which GT5 doesn't have (other than the RUF's).

Main thing for me is, I want the range of cars that Shift had. Driving a Zonda is nice, but racing a Ford Focus or a Golf at stock settings is ALSO nice.

I just hope that night racing is better illuminated than GT5. Worst headlamps ever! Can't even upgrade to brighter ones. Epic fail.

I don't understand the appeal of the TGTT. It's god awful for racing. It was created more out of necessity than anything. It's not entertaining on GT5 and it won't be entertaining on any other game. I sincerely hope they don't waste time re-creating it.

I do hope they provide a skidpad and a high speed test section though. Would be kind of annoying to use the telemetry hud without one.

Agree with MildAshers. Although the track list is great, it would be a bit disappointing if San Luis is not included, especially as it is included in the GT1 2010 season. Awesome track, have been wanting it in a racing game since it was built.
