Substantially so, yes. And they last for the entire 13 laps it takes to empty a full fuel tank. Don't remember exactly now, but I was running around 3:55-4:00 on a reasonably clean lap without pressing too hard, and gaining around 8-10 seconds per lap on the AI. With full wets I was at best running 4:06-4:10 and at best staying even with them.

If it wasn't for that I'd have lost the race, dure to running out of fuel twice and making too many mistakes. I had lost a full lap and was about to hold my nose and switch to Racing Softs when the rain started, since my slow comeback on mediums had been thwarted by more annoying mistakes. I switched to wets early and lost tons of time, then kept losing time, then switched to inters after dropping to almost 2 laps down and instantly started gaining tons of time as well as gaining pit stops. Not the way I drew it up, but it made for an interesting finish that would have been really close if the R8 hadn't had to pit with a lap or two to go.

It's because grip reduction is set to low for enduros, if set to real for online or arcade races the wets are required when it gets that wet and you can't stay on slicks nearly as long.
 
Great guide Shoe, really helpful.

I'm 5 hours into the race and it's about to get dark. It was dry for the first 3 hours (grey sky) and by the end of this I was leading by 2 seconds over the BMW V12 and the Bentley. It started raining so I put inters on, once I pitted again I put wets on and began to fade away. I was a lap down until I saw the post above and pitted for inters. Finally started making up some ground, about 2:20 seconds behind the leader now (second place). But it's getting dark and the rain doesn't look like it's going to let up :scared:

Long story short, this guide helped a lot.

One question though, i have the peugeot 908, mazda 787b, minolta, and toyota GT one, in your opinion should i wait in the UCD for say the nissan r89c or just use one of the cars that i have already?

My question: I'm 8h:35 into this race and the fireworks started at about the 6h mark.... do the fireworks go all night? I first thought cool... now they're just annoying, repetitive and distracting. When do they stop?

Edit: They stop at around 8h:40. how's that for timing? :)

Well done shoe, but I do have one question. I'm 15h into the race in a R92. And it seems like my fuel economy is getting worse. In the beginning I could do 15ish laps on full tank but now I'm only getting about 9-10

Any ideas? Thanks

Is the whether any different? If not, I have no clue. Driving style can only give a lap or two of fuel

Use whatever you have. Just make sure that you are comfortable driving it at a pace that allows you to win.
 
I have no access to gt5 and very limited access to Internet at the moment. I will update the table early next week

I honestly enjoy the fireworks. Gives me more to look at instead of just corner corner corner. Keeps me from zoning out too far
 
I have updated the OP with the Panoz Esparante in the table, and the starting PP of each car, as well as some additional information in the paragraphs.

I am still working on getting a Mclaren f1.

I am also planning to add the Gillet Vertigo to the table as well

Hey That 908 tune you gave me is really nice. But on certain turns the back end seems to get a little lose and sometimes but not too often causes a spin. i feel that if i have to do 24 hours in this car with tire wear on. That could be an issue.

Any way you could fix this without ruining the tune too much... Heres a map of what turns so u can get specific with it. This should be pertty specific. I feel though that on bad tires it could be a serious problem though.

Well, I don't think it is a tune issue. The issue for those is that it is a corner where you are getting o the throttle heavier. Try feathering coming out of those corners or beige more gradual in your throttle. Also, Indianapolis is banked, while every other corner is extremely flat, and that will make any car loose. So, coast through Indy. Try watching a replay and look at your throttle coming out of those corners.

i do feather. and it doesn't even happen every time. Its just random.

Anyway to make it a little tighter at the rear though for when my tires go bad. I still feel like it will become more of a issue once i get a few laps out of the pits.

And i never noticed indianapolis was banked lol. Odd. i guess ill have to start coasting through that. I never noticed the bank so i just took it like a normal turn. for a DS3 though my throttle control is pretty good. Ive even lost grip without throttle though. O.o

So anything to tighten up that rear? just a lil

Also what were your lap times when you drove this tune?
 
I would be interested in seeing some experts post some lap times with one of Le Mans legendary cars... The 1969 Ford GT 40 and the 1967 Ford Mark IV. Winners of Le Mans 4 consecutive years, including a 1st 2nd and 3rd place finish and domination of the field one race.

They are tough cars to handle at least for me. I'm nowhere near getting the tune right, although I'm an admittedly substandard tuner and will get quicker as I get better or borrow other quality tunes.

I would say adjust your LSD acceleration sensitivity up. Move it to 10,15,20,etc until you feel that it is helping. However, it will make it understeer more in other parts of the track. It's all up to you.

As for the old cars, I have tunes for them, but I am too busy to work on laps for them. You could try running some laps and look at whatever pace you run to compare them.

And @Theace
I don't have a 2D, so you will have to take that to the tuning section. However, for the the test driving, you could help me out.

I've got 4000 miles on my Ford Mk IV having run multiple seasons of endurance racing with it, challenge accepted :sly:
