Out of idle curiosity, does anybody here know shorthand? (I'm well aware of the Pitman and Gregg styles.) I'm thinking of learning it, just because I hate writing more than anything in the world (as in, the physical act of writing by hand, not the "journalist" aspect of it), although Speedwriting is infinitely less involved/complicated… I don't need to be writing 100+ wpm. ;)

On an unrelated note, our raccoons got into the generator shed and used their hands to turn off the circuit breakers. Who would've thunk…

I can write shorthand. You really have no need of learning it unless you plan on being a secretary. Then again, if you can type good, you won't need to learn it anyway.

Well, I imagine it'd be helpful for taking notes in college, right?

Of course, writing notes in college is only helpful if you follow 2 simple rules:

1. You can read them (hence shorthand might not necessarily be a good idea).
2. You actually study from them afterwards.

Actually, some people remember things much more vividly if they write it down....regardless of whether they look at it again.

My mom, does, she even has a few books dedicated to this. I wanna learn this some time though.

I take notes in classes even though the professors post them online. It helps to capture the importance of different things.
