As cool it would be to have a sexy girls voice telling me where to go... I must say Translator-san would fit the bill pretty well as well :)

A navigator would be fine on the point to point rallytracks.

I´d like Elmo to sit next to me :)

I was just wondering whether an online rally event with 2 players in the same car could work, one being the driver whilst the other being the navigator, with the track being randomly created.
If the navigator didn't have info on the track beforehand you would think his or her function would be pointless as the driver would have the same info ( meaning no info with a randomly created track ).

Maybe it could be that just before the rally stage starts ( and/or during the stage ), the navigator would the only one receiving the pace notes ( of that randomly created track ) and has to read them to his driver, either speaking directly to the driver with a real headset or by some gameplay feature whereby pressing a certain button or combination of buttons, the driver hears the virtual co-driver speak and give directions.

This could be a unique and challenging gameplay element in itself, with correct timing and taking in account what the driver does and how fast the car goes, etc., etc. just like a real life navigator.:)

Allowing the co-driver to review the track first is nice, but long. A better way could be to display info on the next curve, only to the co-pilot. If a headset is not an option for the co-pilot :ouch: , a series of QTE's could be implemented ; success would make the virtual co-pilot (driver side) announce the correct info, while messing up could end up in a silence or bad info.

EDIT : I can't seem to be able to read this late. This post makes no sense at all, sorry.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

It was confirmed at TGS when Kaz was playing during the breakout session, that the co-driver is audible.

You guys talking about the sat-nav voiceover reminds me of GTA4. If you were in a car that had it, and you had a destination set, it would guide you. Never listened to it cuz I wanna jump over the bridges in the park instead, but it was a nice little touch.

I voted yes, navigator would be awesome, but GT5 does not really seem like a rally game, oh wait, I just remembered the random track generator!!!

I hope we can turn off the map so we are clueless of where to go! Then the nav. will really come in handy!! Who's with me!!!

You should have an option to turn the map off anyway. Hasn't that option been available in other GT games?

So now that its confirmed we do have an audible co-driver, shouldn't this thread be closed?

Women: turn left then right.
Men: go that way.

 Funny enough, I have a woman telling me where to go on Dirt 2.

Well... We'll be getting this feature - so that's that!

@ mods... Lock please, thanks!

Why should we just lock threads when something is confirmed? Will folk still not want to talk about it?

Stays open.

Only if it is as cool as "Easy reft! Easy light! Game over YEAAAAAH" ;)

HAHAHAHA! I regognize that one! Its from Sega Rally. I always sing along when they say "GAME OVER YEEEAAAAHH" so funny.

I dont know about the talking anvigator. maybe for the Rally courses. I didnt like the dude in FM3 at all(neither the game) So i guess i say no to that type of navigator.

Not only do I want a Co-Driver (only on the rally stages though) there should be several male co-driver voices (Nicky Grist, Derek Ringer, Daniel Elena, Alex Gelsomino) and several female voices (sorry, dont know any :p ) I'm a longtime rally fan and the sound of Nicky Grist's voice is the most comforting thing I can hear in a rally car (maybe if they carry through with this, they'll have an english, irish, welsh and american voice for each gender, definitely not the ones I stated though :p)

there should be several several female voices (sorry, dont know any :p )...

Well, there have been cases of female co-drivers in rally, for instance I remember the french Alexandre Bengue/Caroline Escudero. Also, rather for fun, Sebastien Loeb drove and won a rally (not part of WRC championship though) with his wife as co-driver.

Having a navigator would be cool if you could turn the map off! No need for someone to tell me where to go when theres a map showing exactly where I am
