I mean, being able to do countless laps isn't realistic so should be charged after every session for gas.

Also, should have to buy new tires after they wear out...that's realistic. Especially since the game is like buying a normal car and modding it for the track.

Damage also should have to be fixed with credits, I don't mean the repair frame. Everything, headlight, $100 credits gone. Hood, $600. Everytime.

If you hit other cars or cut chicanes, you should be black flagged and disqualified. Continue and should be banned from the game for life.

so...hopefully all the PRO RACERS who say mid-race saves are unrealistic will STFU.

Sounds too extreme for a game, don't you think? And also, banning someone from playing online in Gran Turismo 5 is just stupid, they bought the game. They can do what they want with it. I like the repair idea, but more like 1,000 cr. for repairing the whole car instead of individually repairing parts of the car. Just a thought.

They should totally simulate the credit checks when you go to buy it. There should also be a mini-game where you sign the purchase form in triplicate with point deductions for sloppy penmanship! Also, I DEMAND GT6 include an Insurance Adjuster module that raises or lowers your monthly payments and premiums depending on actuarial tables that you have to memorize to even get a license.

That'd be the best GT ever!

Gran Turismo isn't even a real simulation so what's your point OP ?

And buy tires, pay for repairs after every races, etc.... Then you'd have no money!

Let's leave the fun in the game and assume that - like in real life - our races are sponsored by a gas company who supplies free gas. Same goes for tires. What? You think that Dale Jr. has to pay for his own SUNOCO fuel?

If you had to buy gas for every car you would run out of gas every time. Because most of the cars are just collecting dust until you actually want to / have to use them. Just changing the friggin' oil is annoying.

Just changing the friggin' oil is annoying.

Agreed 100%. I think PD should focus more on different types of turbo/engine compatibility and more options on current parts before making me buy gas!

Don't give the Dear leader any more of these bright ideas.

Please.

Thats what Racing is about...

Edit: BUT I understand what you mean!

Paying for stuff is utterly pointless... This is a simulator, not a pay for everything and get realistically screwed over life simulator...

Having running costs management wouldn't be a bad idea. I wouldn't go as far as requiring the user to change every single little component (basically increasing x100 the oil change hassle), but damage and consumables in a true "GT mode" (or better, Career mode) would not get resetted after each race. There could be these big categories:

Optionally performed before/after each race
  • Fuel
  • Fluids (engine oil, transmission oil, brake oil, coolant liquid, etc)
  • Brake pads (when brakes will be better simulated)
  • Tires

To be performed in GT Auto
  • Clutch
  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Suspensions
  • Bodywork
  • Chassis

There could be automatic maintenance programs or something like that to avoid users to do repetitive tasks each time. For those who don't want to waste time in these things (and credit grinding, etc), PD could revamp the "Arcade mode" to something more useful.

The $35,000 for racing soft includes a lifetime supply :p I would pay for proper racing fuel before each race for a decent hp increase.

GT5 doesn't simulate any of the things that would be required to be fixed/replaced in a real enough way for this to be any more than an annoyance.

Remind me to unleash torment and misery upon your household the day Kaz and his team actually decide to take your advice. :grumpy:

Yeah definitely! And better yet, make it you own real life money you're paying with!
That way you would need to synchronize the game with your bank account, and every time you bought something in the game, it would cost you real life dollars! Isn't that a great idea!?
Of course the prices should stay the same, so if you wanted a million dollar car in the game, you would have to pay that amount in real money.

Now are you with me GTP!?

If Kaz does that then I will hope the company goes bankrupt.

Seriously though, why would anyone want to do things like this in a video game?
It's a racing game. it's about racing - not all the annoying aspects of real life racing that people have to do. They don't do it because they want to, but because the world simply works that way and they have to.
So why would you force all the hassle of real life into a video game?
You might say "then why make the player pay for anything at all, if it's all about racing!?" - because it presents a challenge. Going through a ton more menus for buying fuel and different kinds of liquids for the car is ridiculous. It's not a challenge in anyway, and it's not fun in any way either. Nor is it interesting in any way. It's just a hassle. There's enough of that in the game already with the tedious menus and lack of features like a FF/RW function for replays.
The biggest issue with GT5, or PD, is their priorities. They just don't seem to want the best for the player - rather the best for themselves, in whatever weird way they want the game to progress.

I think Kazanski is doing sarcasm here and i totally understand him, we had enough of this BS threads that say "this isnt realistic"...

paying for damage is fine, but it should be in career mode, but first you'd have to actualy have a career mode, unfortunately pd forgot about implementing an actual game mode, you should be hired for by a racing team or something along those lines then have to pay to repair your car, there is simpley no game structure to gt, very friggin annoying

the problem is, when a company sells 20 million copies why would they think the way they are doing it isnt the right way? we give them a licence to be slack because we still throw our money at them, i have every gt in the series but gt5 is the one that makes me sy no more, yes i love it, when im online in a good race or just me and the car but the game itself and all its quirks is awful, there is only one thing that will make me buy gt6 even if i knew it had the same annoying problems as gt5 and that is a proper track maker, but without that i just cant and wont back pd just like i wont back my other fave game pro evo, im tired of bs and failed promises

Honestly, I always though something smilar to your idea should be incorporated. No banning from the entire game though, thats even worse than the people woh drive crazy. I mean if you pay $60 for a game you should be able to do what you want. if people don't want you there they should be able to ban you from servers they make sure. But to your original thought. yea. There should be a master fuel system or something that you'd have to buy liter/gallons of race grade Diesel or Fuel. Or maybe even have the civilian variants for the performance differences and for cheaper alternatives when starting out. I've always thought rather than making the tires so expensive, The prices should be cheaper and you have to stock up. Or for the price they have buy in bulk like 10 sets. I've always felt damage should be mor reaslistic and have to be paid for. Maybe not each and every individual part. But most outerbody parts and some internal parts. Lights body panels, bumpers wings, engine, tranny suspension, and maybe some more speific parts in the latter 3. I would base the price on the type of car though. I mean the headlight to a Mazda 6 shouldn't cost the same as a headlight to Lamborghini. For that matter I've always thought that cars in the used car dealership should have some damage or modification to them too. Be realistic. I'd say maybe stock up on replacement parts as well. I also felt that they should allow you to buy and sell cars online in a proper online dealership/marketplace rather than the trading system (which is ok too, but its not effective when trying to do proper purchases specially with the Million CR limit). So yes. I do feel that it should be the case. I also feel that they should bring the driving missions back as contracts to race a given car through a championship that you don't need to maintain. Of course they should require certain licenses depending on the skill level, but at least it would give you a decent establishment. In a way it makes GT more complicated. But at the same time it could be more realistic. Though it won't be grindingly or mlimitingly realistic.

Only if it was optional. They could call it "Hardcore Mode" or something. It would be incredibly annoying if you were forced to buy more fuel/tires/repairs when all you want to do is to have a quick race.

I like the concept of acquiring sponsors which would pay for those things. Penalties should be a part of the game. Ban for life goes to far unless it is repeatedly using some software glitch to get money/exp.

If Kaz does that then I will hope the company goes bankrupt.

And accompany this bankruption with misery and misfortune upon their households! >=D

Because we'd all LOVE to pay 55,000 credits to replace a door on a Ferrari.

Ahahahahahaha. Yeah i totally agree.
Anyone, i agree with this thread, pay for fuel and tyres. I mean you already have pointless horns, so why not this?

...that some AI-car or noob crashed into. +1!

The main part of the game should still be driving, not having to treat your 1000-car garage like tamagochis.

I don't want an RPG, I want a driving game.

Having to pay to repair damage is a interesting concept but it wouldn't work very well during online races unless you had a way to do the repair the damage while remaining online. If you had to exit out of the room each time to repair/rebuild your car most online rooms would empty very quickly. It's already bad enough when you get wrecked out of a single race but imagine having to back out of the room to repair your car!

This feature would work well in A/B spec mode but not for online racing.

I'd rather see body damage affect how a car handles and other random aspects to racing like engine failures and cut tires. Imaging having your car overheat due to body damage affecting the cooling to the engine. Albeit, these should be features that can be toggle on/off for the people who would want to use them.
