should have to buy gas for every car.

Yeah definitely! And better yet, make it you own real life money you're paying with!
That way you would need to synchronize the game with your bank account, and every time you bought something in the game, it would cost you real life dollars! Isn't that a great idea!?
Of course the prices should stay the same, so if you wanted a million dollar car in the game, you would have to pay that amount in real money.

Now are you with me GTP!?

If it works both ways, I'm fully for this. I would do seasonals all day every day :)

Do you wish to fill up your car?

Are you sure?

How much fuel would you like to put into your car?
[enter value]
Are you sure you you want to put xx litres into your car

Then watch as half-arsed animation shows guys putting fuel hose into mid air above the car and drench it in 98Ron. (Gasp aloud as the fuel hits the hot exhausts and your pride and joy goes up in a puff of smoke!)

Personally I think there's far more overriding issues with GT5 before we start adding more unnecessary novelties.

Pretty sure you'd pay more in fuel with the endurance races than you'd earn from them...it's been said before, no this is not a good idea. Fix the bugs, add more premiums and add more RMs is what PD should be doing.

And vehicle excise tax, for the street circuits.

Congestion charges when you race in London?

I mean, being able to do countless laps isn't realistic so should be charged after every session for gas.

Also, should have to buy new tires after they wear out...that's realistic. Especially since the game is like buying a normal car and modding it for the track.

Damage also should have to be fixed with credits, I don't mean the repair frame. Everything, headlight, $100 credits gone. Hood, $600. Everytime.

If you hit other cars or cut chicanes, you should be black flagged and disqualified. Continue and should be banned from the game for life.

so...hopefully all the PRO RACERS who say mid-race saves are unrealistic will STFU.
Bold: I hope this means you aren't serious. Too much realism kills, leave it for the super-sims like rFactor and iRacing.

I think Kazanski is doing sarcasm here and i totally understand him, we had enough of this BS threads that say "this isnt realistic"...

Exactly.

But when I first read the title, it reminded me of this other thread that was around before the game came out about adding car insurance to GT5.

If you pay 36,000 dollars for some tires, I would expect you would get more than one set.

there was such a thread?! hahahahah
Honestly i believe that the mods should make a "Threads of Shame" Section and have all this threads in there.

It would be nice that if you have a crash at 120 km/h you died. Then your profile is erased from your PS3 and your copy of GT5 will not work anymore. You should go to buy another copy of GT5 and reinstall the game, and start from 0.... XD

I think worrying about repair & fuel bills etc would be in a C Spec mode. Where you need to pay your drivers, gain sponsorship and apply for entry into certain championships.
A Spec for drivers like Vettel who doesn't car about costs of tyres or repairs, just wants to make the next apex.
B Spec for Team principles like Christian Horner.
C Spec for the team owner Dietrich Mateschitz who worries about the costs of repairs, wages and sponsorship.
E Spec (engineering mode) you could be Adrian Newey and design the car yourself!
F Spec is for Fans and is the same a remote race viewing.

I laughed at this and it hints a point; sometime it would be bad if a game ever gets too realistic. Even simulators.

Heheh, well, something of the sort ocurred to Rowan Atkison recently, hehehe

Surprisingly he survived, yet he destroyed a perfectly good McLaren F1! A sin by my book. :P

Realistic simulation is fun for some players but not for others. I don't mind if this franchise was like MLB: The Show where you can have absolute control over every last detail from paying for a bus to transport minor-league players to paying a certain number of janitors to clean section 308. That's fine, as long as it's also like MLB: The Show in that every option can be turned on and off.

If you wanted a fantasy racing life simulator, then by all means, this would be applicable to add on to the game. In fact, why not require the players to own one set of driving wheels - after all, it'd be terribly unrealistic to drive with a video game controller. On top of that, include a health meter for your simulated drivers, so when you crash, your drivers' health will deplete. And speaking of that, add an perma-death option with it, so your driver could die and you'll have to start all over again. Or if they get injured from crashes, charge them some applicable fees so they can be recovered to health. Yeah.. REALISM!

Yes, its endless. GT5 isn't a fantasy life cave where one crawls into and lives an alternate life. Just because Kazunori has been living in a (mental) cave when he developed GT5 doesn't mean you should too.

No. And I don't even want to have to change the oil...

How did a post screaming with that much sarcasm get this much actual response!?! Some of you must not have read the original post. Those that did have already posted that the OP was not serious about wanting to add these things to the game. He is just making a statement for those out there that don't like the idea of having in game saves because: "It's not realistic" The OP does not want to add these things to the game he was just making a point.

I think, now seriosly, that there's a lot of things wich can do the game more realistic and fun at the same time. For example breaking the engine, turbo, suspensions, or brakes when you take them to the limit... And some damages couldn't be repared in pits (For example a broken engine, or chasis damages after a big crash) and you must leave the race.
But we are talking about a game where the hard tyres and the softs can do the same number of laps...

Even though this is billed as the "real driving simulator", it's still a game and it has to be FUN. Buying gas is not fun.

As long as the costs are deducted automatically rather than me having to spend extra time and steps fooling with it, like the worthless oil changes. I don't know who came up with the oil change idea, but they need a swift kick in the junk with steel-toed boots. It's one of those things that sounds good on paper, and indeed seemed neat the first handful of times, but by the 800th oil change it really gets old and actually detracts from the game rather than adding to it. And yes, GTFDL members, the extra time does matter because it's time that's spent taking fun away from the game rather than adding to it, and it adds up over the course of a thousand oil changes.

I actually am all for the idea of paying for damage, but this would require that we actually have damage in A-Spec, and I'm all for that as well. Not just cosmetic, but mechanical damage. Put mechanical damage into A-Spec, and force players to pay out of their pockets to repair those damages. (Deduct it automatically at the end of the race.) It worked great for Forza.

Yep, I totally agree, that must be it. Of course nobody wants annoying things from real-life to appear in game :sly:

They are slicks, and if I'm not mistaken, they aren't cheap in real life. Then again, they probably cost $10,000-$15,000 realistically.

Although paying $3,000 for comfort tires...I'd expect another set or two :ouch:.
