Should I buy GT5??

If you're not absolutely horrible behind the wheel of a car, you should be able to handle GT5 with the driving aids turned on. In time, as you adapt and improve, you may eventually wish to gradually toggle aids off one by one, adjusting to driving without them, if you wish.

These were worthless responses. They're utterly oozing with fanboy bias. Any honest rating for the game wouldn't be quite so radiant.

This can't be the "best game that exists" because the best games are generally not racing games. If this is supposed to mean "best racing game that exists", that's a problem because there's superior offerings available on PC. If it's supposed to mean "best console racing game that exists", that's still a problem because there are several ways that Forza Motorsport 3 is superior and because not all players enjoy racing sims, so players enjoying something more like Burnout or Need for Speed versus more simulation-y games won't find GT5 enjoyable at all.

The "best racing game on a console" was a little bit better, but it still ignores stiff competition from FM3. While the driving in FM3 doesn't feel quite as good as GT5, it still does a pretty good job, but FM3 typically surpasses GT5 in pretty much every other regard.

And your dissection of why someone else's opinion is invalid is not worthless?

They think it's the best game ever made, that's their opinion, it's not worthless...you just disagree.

To the op, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it....it's a fun game no matter how you slice the details.

nice! I'm getting annoyed by the Forza fanboys attacking the GT fanboys, thinking their fanbase actually has any sort of reputability:drool:. After all, I'm 100% sure that a higher fraction of GT fanboys have, at least, tried the opposition's noteworthy "vidjya game" before stating preference. It's basically like saying a cd player is better than an ipod (good enough example because compact disc players came first.) It's ignorance and a self-destructive way of thinking. :sly:

p.s.

notice how I used - cd player and ipod.
xbox fanBOYS. most of them haven't a pube on their testees.

I have a few words, get away from what you're currently doing, run to the nearest game store, or where ever, and buy GT5, it is an extremely good game, GO!!!

oblivionskate
get Gran turismo 5, Killzone 3, red dead redemption, and gta 4. thats a pretty bad ass starter pack if you ask me

Agree. Gt5 isn't just a game to me. You make new friends and have a great laugh online.

If you have a wheel GT5 is a must as it is the best driving experience on the ps3. Using the controller for me at least is not near as fun though. The online is awesome if you get into some leagues which are all over this site. Anywhere from cappucino to F1 leagues. Go buy it and welcome to GT5 community.

I fear how little people think for themselves these days. Rent it and try it out. None of us know what you like.

:)

👍

I've never understood the thought process behind asking strangers if you'll like a game.

I go on forums and ask for tire suggestions or a set of light wheels or something, but I wouldn't ask people I don't know if I'm going to enjoy (subjective) something. Besides there are countless reviews and videos around already.

You asked a GT5 community whether you should buy the game - Of course we'd say yes! :P
It's definitely worth the buy - The online feature does give the game more playability, and as there are often championships & the like going on. Whilst you're going for games, GT5, Killzone 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Portal 2 if you like a mental challenge, are all good buys.

Everyone here is obviously already biased.

That being said, I can't think of too many games that have as much mass appeal as GT5. 10 different people could love it for 10 completely different reasons. I see from this thread that a lot of people love to race online. I've probably played 100 hrs of GT5, and I've yet to race online! I will probably get around to that eventually. I've been playing Aspec (the single player career mode), and although it was kind of weak compared to old GT games, the seasonal events are starting to really make up for that (especially if they keep adding new ones and leaving the old ones). I'm just grinding, buying cars, testing/tuning, and repeat. There's something magical about getting a sweet new car only to have it drive like crap on the track initially until you tweak it for a couple of hours to get it just how you like it(or test other people's tunes).

You could probably create a whole class system of GT5 players with names like hardcores(play serious, no aids, pricey wheel/pedal/chair setup), tuners(obsessed with testing and maximizing the potential of cars), cheaters(play mariocart style, cutting corners and bullying other cars), etc.
