Hello, I'm thinking of buying the PS3, and I'd like to know if you would buy it, being in my conditions:

1) Wanna spend the less I can (that's why I say "PS3 slim", it's cheaper)

2) The maximum I intend to spend is ~900 reals, about ~U$527,24

3) Want a console that has HDMI out, Full HD def. (1080p) and reads blu-ray games/movies

4) Don't want to use any OS such as Linux, etc.

5) Don't intend to play online for now

6) I have a Full HD 46" LCD TV, a 19" HDTV and soon, an HD Projector for a 106" wide screen with a 7.1 home theater system.

7) Love racing games, specially the Gran Turismo series, which is exclusive for Sony.

So ppl, would you buy any PS3 version in my conditions? And which one? Please, tell me. I rlly need some ideas, it's a tough decision.

How much does the Slim cost in Brazil? I can't really find anything about it. You could import one, but I don't know what Brazil's customs laws are.

You answered your own question. Don't really see what else you could buy except for the Slim.

As Toronado said, it depends on how much a PS3 costs in your area. But it does seem like a PS3 is a fine purchase for you. Don't forget the HDMI cable though. They usually run $5-$30-stupid expensive. They all work the same, however.

They dont work all the same.. Stupid microsoft cable that came with my bros 360 broke out of box.. haha

So be advised, go for MID priced HDMI not the cheap stuff.. But yeah if they do work, its the same.

yes, buy the fecking thing. I on;y got one because my fatty quit on me, so I bought and DiRT 2 while I was at it.

Here in Brazil it's more expensive then I can afford. But Paraguay is beside us, aproximately 300Km from where I live... so I'd buy it the next time I go there... here in my country it would be about 1200 reals (~560 dollars) but in paraguay it's way cheaper and I wouldn't need to pay taxes cuz it's not gonna cost more then the quota (U$500 per person per month).

EDIT: Yes, I also know the HDMI cable doesn't come together, and it's a little expensive, but I'd buy it in Paraguay too, there are several brands there, the good and bad ones :D

A cable is a cable, i wouldn't put that much of a price-quality relationship on it. The 360 one is some weird composite HDMI, right? Which i don't think is a perfect comparison.

I tried my hdmi cable on my 360 and it wouldn't work at all... I really don't get it :p It works perfectly with my PS3.

My HDMI set me back $4 and works perfectly. Do not spend a ton on one. They are no different.

And btw, here in Brazil it'd be more then 1200 reals as I said b4... here it's about 1400~1900 reals = 670~900 dollars... way more expensive then in the US, and almost twice the price in Paraguay, that's why we buy so many things there...

What you should do is check some eBay and Amazon listings. See if buying a USDM PS3 Slim (or other model/region, if necessary) would be cheaper with shipping, exchange rates and customs than buying one locally. It might very well be cheaper. If not, it would probably be best to shop around if you are visiting Paraguay.
