Should I wait for NAmerican Ver. of GT5 Pro.???

Was just wondering if I should wait to buy NA ver. of Prologue or just import from Japan...are there any differences like the servers that you play on for online???
 
i am waiting for NA release as well..

altho the Japanese version sounds very tempting. i bet you there will be NA and as well European servers to play on.
and besides if you wait, everyting should be patched up... and translated... im also betting that the movies in GT TV will have at least subtitles :)
waiting another month or 2 will be worth it.. besides you will save up money, cuz i know many people got Japanese copy and will get the Euro or NA copy as well..
 
I imagine there might be some cars from the Detroit Auto Show appearing in a North American release.

Also, most likely will be cheaper to buy a North American release than buy and import a foreign release.
 
We don't have any details about the US version yet, other than what is already known.

It all depends on how long you want to wait. For me, I ordered it the first week of Jan. and I'm glad I did (got it within 3 days). The day I ordered it, that is when SCEA announced "officially" the release time frame will be "Spring 2008". Spring runs from March until June, right?

"Spring 2008" is the only FACT we know regarding the release date.

GT5P (J) is the first thing I've ever gotten as a direct import, and I'm quite pleased. It's a nice piece in the collection.

For me, GT is THE reason why I got a PS3 and a PS1 almost 10 years ago.
 
As well, I recommend using JapanVideoGames.com. They have dropped their price since I bought mine. Shipping time was excellent, because they are in California, not Japan.
 
I'm waiting for the U.S. release:cool:...I love Gran Turismo & all, but I don't know Japanese:boggled:, so I'm not going to sit there & translate everything. I'd rather just be able to play the simulator with no problems. I created a Japanese profile on my PS3 just so I could get the demo of GT5 Prologue:p, so I most definately don't want a game that's all in a language I can't read. In my opinion, I think it's worth the wait.
 
The game is not entirely Japanese. Most of the things you "do" (go online, dealership, Arcade, Event" are all in English and have icons. You don't need to sit there and translate. So, don't let that be a reason to not get it. As well, you do not need to play through your JPN PSN account.

I'll be getting the US version also. This Japanese version is just a measuring stick of how bad some of us want to play the game....especially since the PS3 is region free for games.

Seriously, you won't be changing that much stuff in the menus that you need translations "at your fingertips" all of the time. I downloaded all of the images and have them in a folder in case I need them.

if you dont have a G25 save up for the wheel.. you have about 2 months or so :) ( i could be wrong)

Agreed. To those worried about the language barrier, if you can navigate the menus in GT:HD, you can easily navigate GT5P. Ironically enough, the main menu is in English haha. The only things I needed to translate were a couple of options listed, which I already wrote down because there is a thread where people have already translated the few things that need to be.

Also, I just talked to the people at Gamestop today (picked up my copy of Burnout Paradise) and I saw that they had a GT5P poster hanging up (saying Spring 2008, reserve your copy now, yada yada yada), so I asked if they had a solid release date. They said that it has been pushed back to April. I'm sure glad I got my import copy!

In case you cant interpret very well, I'm saying YES, GET THE JPN VERSION!! I dont know what I'd do if I had to wait till April to play some GT5.
 
If you are a GT fan (why else would you be a member of this site), you will not go wrong by getting the Japanese version and then the US version when it comes out.
 
It's just a matter of 2 months so they say. Id wait...correction..i am waiting lol. GT is also the reason I bought the ps3! WOOT!
 
I pulled the trigger and bought GT5P JPN from playasia.com. I went with economy shipping and it arrived via USPS yesterday - almost exactly two weeks to the day I ordered. Install was a little confusing, as I could not find translations for those pages and wasn't sure what I was or was not agreeing to, but everything installed and updated without issue. Once in the game, it's pretty easy to get around and much of the menu is in English. With the help of the translation images and pages at this site, it's fairly easy to move around the game.

If you bought a PS3 for GT, I highly recommend the import version.
 
Another consideration you may want to bear in mind is this: The money you earn in Prologue will be transferrable to GT5 when the full game comes out, but it has not been confirmed (and may well be pretty unlikely) that you can transfer money from a foreign version of Prologue (i.e. the Japanese or Asian versions) to the NA version of GT5...

I have the Japanese version of GT5:P (thanks Delvesy :D:tup:) but I intend to 'complete' the game in the European version, rather than waste too much time on completing the Japanese version (although I'll probably do it anyway!)..

As for the translation thing, I wish I'd used some of the translation screens available here at GTP before jumping into Prologue. I already managed to sell my Alfa Romeo 147 by accident :( Lucky I'd done the 147-related mission first!!
 
yeah that G25 wheel and translations is no problem for me, just thinking if the NA ver. would give some more bang for my buck, but I hear what Suzuki and RL are saying, you guys figure out a way to drift together yet??? Im not sure how the online interface works.
 
Yeah we have. But its not 100% that we will all be together, but most of the time we can be if we want. I think RL posted the how to on here.

Well...one of the reasons I bought a PS3, back in 2006, was for Gran Turismo:), so I most definatly am a Huge fan of GT!!!:dopey: I haven't been able to get online on my PS3 since Nov 2007 (it has nothing to do with the PS3)

Yeah my local GameStop told me it got pushed back to April.
 
i just ordered the Japanese version.. altho i told you to wait.. DONT ... spend those few extra dollars and get teh copy.. then when US version comes out get that too :) worth every penny imo
