Really? I heard it was designed to be easier to program for than the PS2. It is based off more of a pc style architecture, so I think it should be easier for them to pick up.

Total BS. If the specs for the Xbox 2 pan out, wow. thats one incredibly powerful machine. I don't think the cell processor will match up with it unless it has three cores as well.

Wow.. three cores. Impressive. As I understand it, each Cell has eight processing units, and the system will include three or four of them. That's somewhere between twenty-four and thirty-two individual processing units. If you go by clock speed alone, I believe all the Cells working together will be around double the speed of the Xbox2. I can dig up the exact specs if you like.

Microsoft's problem is that they're still thinking in PC-land. Their thinking is that "more powerful = better". The Cell architecture of the PS3 is all-new technology. Not only will it equal or surpass the graphics of the Xbox2 (which is all MS is concerned with), but it'll also have a Cell or two left over for things like gameplay.

Yeah but Sony's going out on a limb and trying something different that might actually be usefull in the future... And i guess there thinking upgradability. The PC method works but there already hitting limits. Intel scrapped there 4ghz plan in favour of improving what they already got an making more stable and efficient products to compete with AMD. The video card industry has BOOMED making UBER L33T cards that cannot work to there full potential because there CPU BOUND... They need 1000dollar processors like the AMD FX series and Intel E Extreme chips. Even then these L33T cards are in short supply. My brother got lucky and picked an X800XT PE up while they were in stock. That card runs games like butter.👍
