Got my copy of GT5 last week. I've been playing it since. Amost non-stop. I've been doing only the SP Stuff for now. The a-spec and b-spec races getting money buy cars I'm probably not going to use at all and such. While buying parts for the cars it struck me... I think there should be something more?
Like what brand of magical air filter is this that gives my BMW Z4 9 more refreshing horsepower. Is it K&N? Maybe I don't like K&N maybe I wanted an AirRaid filter. Are these Garrett Turbos or Turbonetics. Weiand or Edelbrock superchargers?
At heart everyone that buys, plays and is devoted to this game all have at least one thing in common. We're all gearheads to some extent or another. And what do gearheads want? 1.) HORSEPOWER ... 2.) Individuality.
Yes theres wheels that you can put on your cars. (some of them anyway all though I think it should be all of them). There's some rear spoilers. (although most of them look like the same 3 no matter what car you put them on. But that doesn't seem to satisfy my sense of individuality. PD needs to give us our individuality. Add a wider array of wheels. Maybe some vinyls. Let us tint our windows. Maybe let me put a Hypertech chip in my computer as opposed to a Superchips.
Don't get me wrong. GT5 is an awesome game. I love playing it and all that. But as a Simulation game it should better "simulate" real life. And in real life we are individuals. And when I build a real life car I want people to see it and say to their friends, "That's Scott's 1970 Chevelle there with the black over metallic orange separated by the tribal graphic paintjob. It's got a weiand supercharger, Comp 3/4 race cam, Magnaflow exhaust, gigantic Baer Brake rotors and so on and so forth." (Where are the brake options btw. You juice up the car to its max and suddenly it just magically stops better too. And with out any rotor glow. I like rotor glow it makes me happyfied).

Just off the top of my head to I was thinking earlier today. We got trucks. We got dirt. We got snow. We're missing mud. I wish to take my dodge ram thru the mud. An extremely stress relieving practice. Ok yes its rather a bit of a redneck idea. But since I'm from the midwest of the USA and since I spent a fair bit of the day giving my own truck a total mud bath, I guess you can color me redneck.

Ok I'm done ranting now. Hope you enjoyed the read.

There are alot of rants like this, and I mean a lot , but I really like how you used individuality, because that is one thing we need, whether it is decals of brand names or two tone paint we have the need to make out cars different from each other, especially with online racing. I don't want to have the same looking car as three other people in the room, it's boring.

There are tons and tons more things GT5 doesn't have as you will notice when you get further into the game. Heres a bit of advice from a guy whos had the game for over a year: Rather than focus on what is missing from GT5, focus on what is not missing. For example, the beautiful nurburgring model, the amazing physics, and the 1000 plus cars (in fact, this is a record for any game.) You'll find the game much more enjoyable if you focus on the positives and hope that Polyphony fixes the negatives in the updates and DLC. 👍

Im all for decals and what not but aftermarket tuning parts would be a bit much and would be pointless if they dont properly imitate the differences between each aftermarket part and how each part affects each car which would take a crap load of man hours haha.Midnight Club La had aftermarket tuning parts and they were very pointless..
I would love to drop a aftermarket crate engine in a camaro tho (:

I've had the game since release and I enjoy everything gt5 has, but this isn't really a gameplay content issue, gt5 did very well with all those things,I just want a few more basic customization options. I'm not complaining at all, I mean it was well worth the 60 dollars, especially with pd providing free updates for over a year that not only fix bugs but also add content and update the entire physics system for free. So I'm not complaining or being greedy, just adding to a wishlist thread, with some rather mediocre wishes at that:D

Absolutely brilliant first post there! I think Polyphony meant to include this stuff in the game but pretty much ran out of time.

Mostly out of this stuff I'd like to have some graphics options and some more wheels. Maybe add different sizes. You know just in case some wierdo wants to put 20's on his honda civic hatchback. Or put a big ### blower hood scoop on his mustang. And give me my brake rotor glow. It doesnt mean much but it realistically pleasing to my eyes to watch a car dive into a corner and light those rotors up cherry red.

And one more thing... would it kill PD to add a couple of the tri-five chevy's in there somewhere? I have a hankering for a bel-aire in my garage

Disregard my previous comment about the rotor glow. I just got some on the daytona road course on the entry to the backstretch chicane with my Skyline. It were purdy!

Ok maybe then not specifically named parts but the types of parts better discribed in the engine tunes and such. instead of like stage one two and three. maybe go a bit more in depth and break them down. port and polishing. cylinder honing. adding chrome moly pistons and whatever rods. engine parts being able to break would be good too. having to pay to fix your damage. pay for fuel. if you had to pay for damages i guarentee thered be less bouncing off walls to cheat. the first time you had to pay to replace the rear quarters and clip on an Enzo would cure that. or tear off a side view mirror even. Would be about 400 bucks to replace.
either way I'm pretty sure no matter what they did to upgrade the game as a gearhead I'd always want more. Im still happy with the game. Especially since this morning I figured out that my formula force gp will work if i can just figure out what buttons do what.

I agree with most...paying for fuel and minor things like that sure, but I personally dont care that much. Now when it comes to damage repair and things of that nature...ABSOLUTELY! I think the different name brand parts is a cool idea and also had myself. They had this in GT4 but the different name brands basically gave the same performance gains and cost the same, so really it was pointless. I dont think licensing would be a huge issue as they did do it in GT4. It would be great to have them all differ slightly so as to help individualize the car mechanically rather than just cosmetically (every racing game does exterior). When it come to port polish, cylinder bore, etc...they had that in the earlier games. That makes me believe PD just ran out of time and summed it up the best they could..which isnt bad, just rather generic. I think too much detail and specifics would confuse some less knowledgeable players out there causing the opposite effect of enjoyment. Some love racing were others love tuning more....PD found the median of the two. If we had it our way...it would be as you have described.:)

In gt4 there was a section of tuners you could buy cars or parts from tuning companies, like hks, blitz etc... wish they would have brought that back and revamped it.

I actually never got to play GT4. I had to sell my PS3 to get money to move back to Iowa From Colorado during the beginning of the economic downturn. Last my job and all such things and I'm just now getting back into the gaming.
Mostly, like I said, I wanna see some graphics and some more wheels. Something to make my car mine. Anyone can have an 856hp 2009 Ultimate Opal Black Nissan GT-R Spec V with the wing and front splitter with painted black Volk TE37 Wheels and an unpainted carbon-fiber hood. Which makes it not MY car. It makes it just another car. But give me the ability to paint something 2 tone divide it with some sort of graphic throw some branding in there and you get Scott's 2009 Nissan GT-R.

I played Shift and they did a pretty good job with the ability to make the exterior unique if you were creative. I had a REALLY bad*ss R34 in that game. I loved how different I looked but at the same time every other skyline was just as fast as mine.

BTW, I fibbed and I am going to correct myself. In GT4 I dont believe they had brands like Magnaflow, Superchips, etc...rather they had tuning companies like daveydeez mentioned. I just wanted to set that straight.
