Should we profile bad drivers?

I will be opening a public room between 2:30-3:00 (EST) this afternoon to find a few more clean drivers. Each race will be 10-20 laps, depending on the track. Please see my post above. I have plenty of credits, so if you race dirty, I have no problems backing out and booting you before the end of the race. If you are clean, you have nothing to worry about. Cars below 400hp will be on sports soft, so come prepared. Those above will be allowed on racing tyres. There will be a variety of races.

Rule 1: Race clean
Rule 2: Have fun
Rule 3: Clean language. In my rooms, parents don't have to worry about what their kids are being exposed to. :)

The early brakers - Im one of them but only if theres no cars infront of me and I know I can take the turn....

For an explanation of the Early Braker, here are some images I assembled with that handy-dandy accident sketcher and then edited:

If your behind someone drafting them, it is your responsibility, to not hit them, the cars have brake lights, quit tailgaiting into a corner, and you won't have this issue. You may consider it early braking, I consider it tire conservation.

The Xbox 360:

The Jerk who thinks its funny to spin his car in front of the rest of the field instead on simply driving on the infield to help slow it down.

The Short Sighted Driver.

He's the one who can only see what's infront of him, namely just the corner & car ahead. He must win every corner & come out ahead regardless of the context of the race & is constantly stuffing one up the inside at every unavailable opportunity, causing many incidents, slowing you up in the process or even crashing out altogether. He won't race inteligently & think: "let's try & get through the first corner cleanly & then start racing" or: "if we work as a team we can catch the guy in P1 & I might have a chance of winning then" or: "the driver infront is a little faster than me, I'll hang back & learn something from him while pulling away from the rest of the field in his draft". He can only think a few seconds ahead & is lacking in patience, if only he'd listened to the racing proverb: In order to finish first, first you must finish!

:ouch:

The Too Late Braker
Brakes to late and ends up going off the track, mostly because he tries to beat people by braking the latest.

I have developed a circle of clean drivers(friends). They enjoy racing in my lounge, because they know the racing will be clean and fun. Occasionally, I open a room in the lobby, to see if I can nab a couple more clean drivers. This is the only time I am exposed to the drivers listed above. Ppl in my lounge know that if they drive dirty they will have a 1 day suspension, and after that, a longer suspension, or removed from the room permanently. However, this has never been an issue. This is another reason ppl like my lounge. They know crap will not be tolerated. Also, we get to know one another, and gentlemanly racing comes naturally. We all make mistakes once in a while, and if one of us brakes too late going into a corner, we give the place back, and make the pass again. Also, if a car gets the inside line, the person on the outside might battle back, but always leaves room for both to race. It might be a bit limiting (# of participants), but the racing is always fun.....always!
Hi
Can I add you on PSN because most of my friends are remote racers and I can't remote race anymore sooo
I can't join public room because they are full of idiots and I usually get disconnected and can't rejoin

I don't add ppl until I have raced with them 1st. My cohorts in crime scatter amongst the new drivers, and I watch and observe (and sometimes drive, as well). This might seem like overkill, but this is precisely why we are able to enjoy ourselves. I will have another open session either this coming Saturday or the following. I will create a new post shortly before the time arrives. Typically the day before, or the day of. Stay tuned :)

Classless-above the rest the arrogant people who contributed to this tread and feel that they fit into a class above the rest. You know, the individuals who are super clean and know more about motor sport that everyone else and perhaps feels that they could even be pro race car drivers. You know the ones who complain about what everyone else is doing yet they sometimes do the same thing. Yes there are noob drivers, but I think this is what makes racing so great. Figuring out your opponent`s driving tendencies and using them to your advantage.

Oh right, you just mean GT Planet members who drive according to the OLR then! Strange that some people like you would join an online community & then not want to race according to it's core principals.

:sly:

People defend dirty racing when that's the only way they can win. Do not drag "NOOBS" into this. There are several "NOOBS" that race in my lounge. "NOOBS" does not equal dirty racing. They can race within their abilities. And, we help them improve their skills. This is just a cop-out used by those listed above, to defend their tactics and unwillingness to improve themselves. Most are probably the same people who complain about the absence of cheat codes. If I cheated, in either respect, after paying my own money to purchase the game, I'd feel like I was ripping myself off. But, I suppose you wouldn't understand such simple logic.....or any logic, for that matter. Then again, why did I type this to begin with? It's not as if someone like you is going to have a eureka moment, and suddenly see the glaring flaws in your thought process. There, someone stated the obvious.

BTW, figuring out where someone is weaker, and making a clean pass, is vastly different from someone who drives dirty, like those listed above.

How about profiling bad room creators? Turning damage on but leaving penalties off is the worst thing I've experienced. I call them 'I am not gay but I'm begging you to please rear-end me' rooms.

'Street Cars Only' is a funny name too.

And then there's The Lagger

He may have no idea he's even doing it, but you can watch him jump all over the track. One second he's 50 feet behind you, the next he's at your door. Or you're on your line getting ready to set up for a corner and suddenly he's in your way and on the brakes.

Wonder if anyone could give me some advice on this.

I think I might be a lagger too, because there´s no way I can race online without seeing every other car flying around. Then I figured out that maybe it´s just my Internet connection or geographic location in South America that´s ruining the online experience rather than a problem caused by the others in the room.

I did the Playstation OS connection test and I´m usually around 1Mb download 250kb upload. That seems to be more than enough for other games that run smoothly online, but not the case with GT5. By the way, GT5 indicates my connection quality is NAT2, which I think is standard.

Can someone throw some light on this? Thanks in advance!

This is way to slow to play online without causing lag, Most have 5-10 times your connection speed. And a good hose should have more

What about the guy who sees the guy lagging, and instead of sayin YO YOU LAGGIN, he goes bla gah *insert lagger name* iz a noobs can't hold an (*&&$ line get off the road

No it isn't, that is plenty to play online. Our league has quite a few people in very rural areas with about that same connection speed and we don't have any problems with lagging in races. I think maybe you are a good "hose". 👎

The Granny
Usually picks a Fiat 500 or something REALLY slow and enters it in a LeMans race. Then he tries to block everyone behind him. I've met someone like this before. Just shoved him aside and kept going. I know it was the wrong thing to do, but he had no right to block me and ruin my race. :indiff:

The X2010 Test Pilot
Trying desperately to forge an online reputation and hoping that the entire group will ask about his car. Doesn't yet realise that the X2010 these days is as common as salt and very rarely earned anyway!
Natural Habitat: Can generally be found tankslapping all over the racing lane, on the grass, in the sandtraps, scraping the armco and more frustratingly, up the rear of any car, on any track you happen to race!

i think all my B-Spec drivers are these god they can drive fast but you put a car infront of them lol

The Forza : Gloats on and on about Forza while playing GT5 online!

So I said to him: so go play Forza then

I will probably be opening a public lobby this weekend for clean racers that have been asking about getting in. I will be posting on a new thread, once a date/time has been settled upon by myself, and a couple friends who will help monitor the room. More to come.....
