Edit: Please read other comments - this thread has evolved since my original post. Cheers.

I thought I'd post this idea I've had in the hope that it might get some support and could possibly get included in future seasonal events. Firstly I should say that I very much welcome the fact that the seasonal events have pp or hp or tyre restrictions to make the races more challenging, but it still allows you, in most instances, to enter a car significantly better than the opposition cars in order to win. For example, the upper pp limit will be 650 with unlimited tyre selection, but the opposition cars will be up to 610 pp using racing hard tyres. So here's my idea - put in a difficulty switch, so you can choose between easy, medium and hard, and the game chooses a car for you, that makes the race more or less challenging. Basically, I want races that require a near flawless drive to win. This is something I still find lacking with the game. It always seems possible just to enter a better car in order to win.

So who's with me?

p.s. I also think they should add a "go to next race" button so you don't have to exit after each race, as in the championships in the normal gt mode.

A difficulty switch? LOL It's already there... Just pick a car (or tune a better car) so your performance is closer to what the competition is bringing. So, in your example of the opposition being limited to 610pp with RH tyres, keep your machine within these same regulations so the race is more competitive for you. You can develop self-discipline and enjoy a more competitive race at the same time :P

Yeah I anticipated this kind of response. I know you can do that. My point is, I want the game to challenge me, not me have to set the challenges myself.

Or maybe you've hit on something there - maybe the game could reward you more handsomely if you win events with lower performance cars, rather than what I've said above, either way, what I said still stands - I want the game to challenge me, not me have to set the challenges myself.

This sounds like adding a shuffle element to the seasonals.
You could select shuffle and the game could select a car from the cars in the race and give you that to race with.

Would make for an interesting racing possibly.

I have to agree, I think it would be more fitting if experience points were increased proportionally to the challenge you face. Money and prizes however should be the same whatever, that is how it is in real life.

I too wish there was some sort of grading system. What was wrong with the A-spec point system seen in past iterations of the game? Back then you could race for 1pt or go for broke and try for 200pts in any given series. Your total A-spec accumulation would then be a barometer of your skills or at least of your willingness to accept a fair challenge.
Back in GT4 you could probably have completed the game with fewer than 10,000 A-spec points which would have required very little effort and that would be reflected in your A-spec total (for all to see-assuming on-line ID viewership were available). I managed to be in the low 80,000 range when I maxed out yet I still managed to create and win many 200pt races. That was always very satisfying and now in GT5 there is no such award system. A win is a win without any guage to reflect effort required.
There were a few Aliens out there that could top the 110,000+ A-spec range(forgetting the max at the moment) back in GT4 and now in GT5 all we have is the Platinum trophy for %100(all golds?)completion. There is little doubt in my mind though that some have taken a harder, much harder route than others have with no way of knowing who's road was harder. A-spec points eliminated the need for guesswork.
Just to say too that any road to platinum will be tough. I don't expect that I'll be one to reach that goal as I'm just not that good(stubborn?).I am certain though that some Platinum medalists made it harder rather than easier on themselves and we'll never really know who these people are.

I very much liked Enthusia's point system in which points gained depended only in difficulty of race, i.e. more powerful opponents than your car. Brilliant system IMO. And very easy to be implemented in GT5 due to pp that introduced. It's a question why they didn't use such a system in points...

Shuffle seasonals would probably make life a lot more entertaining for those that grind the events.

I'm for anything Shuffle.

More then 1 person likes the Shuffle Seasonal. Hooray!
Now how do we get this information to PD.

Hmmmmmm!

I would love something like this. Though probably not as complex as you suggested.

This is something that has been an Issue since GT1 but it's also what makes GT different to vitually every other game out there,,,,,freedom. All other racing games are so linear and level based and I guess PD just want to make sure that this flexibility is not compromised. PD have always maintained that GT is a driving simulator and not a racing game. Also, the variance in abilities and input devices is probably so vast that there would need to be a lot of levels, easy, medium, and hard would not cut it. I do sympathise with you but in fairness as most or the replies show, its quite easy to set your own challenge to your own level.

That said, care needs to be taken to make sure that the best drivers cant win against racecars in a standard car etc.

There are races in it - it's a racing game! And I'm only suggesting shuffle for some seasonals, not all, and definitely not all aspects of the game. The difficulty (or lack of) throughout the game is an issue though, but not one for this thread!

Good idea, until you get stuck with a muscle car that cannot go faster than 180 km/h against cars that will go up to 250-280 km/h.

I know, it happened to me a couple of times.

I think that has happened to us all at one time or another!

What if you could select where you start.
Choose random position 1 to 4,5 to 8,9 to 12 etc.

Taylor the challenge to suit.

Any other ideas?

Regards

I think grids should be locked, with the fastest cars in the back of the field. Where you start depends on what you get during the shuffle, and how well you finish will be determined by how well you do. And new cars each seasonal, as opposed to the tired ones we still have.

Either way, I'd love it if the idea of shuffled seasonals becomes GT Driver's Club.
