Ive been told on pretty much every thread ive ever posted to use the search instead of making new threads.

Believe me, ive tried, but the search on this site is horrible.
When searching "like the wind" it didnt use like and the because they are too common words.

Plus im on a phone, so its a massive hassle to be changing all the settings in the search.

So please, get over it

Yes, it may be frustrating but there are rules that you agree to when you sign up for GTplanet, and one of those rules is about reposting.

I've just searched ''like the wnd'' and it brought up many threads, I then searched again for ''like the wind how win'' (i.e. how to win like the wind) and the relevant thread appeared.

It might be a pain, but it's not that difficult, it's the same for us all.

Just a bit of friendly advice, you might want to re read the rules of this forum as the moderators enforce those rules very strictly, especially spelling, punctuation, grammer and rude or abusive / insulting comments.

It's like this on every forum mate unfortunately. I don't see what the problem with it is, more similar threads = more content which helps in search engines so they are doing themselves a dis-service really. But hey ...

Don't forget to use quotes when searching. When you search for "like the wind" put it in quotes and then it will force the search engine to search for those three words in that order. Otherwise it will search for threads that contain "like" and then "the" and then "wind" and you may not find what you're looking for. Cheers! :)

Has anyone noticed that this guy has made nearly as many threads as he has posts, thats ussually a sign of lacking use of the search function.

Mods please lock this.

I cant make posts on my phone. This is the first time in my life that ive been on this site on an actual computer.

So you make a thread instead?

I can see how for regulars it is annoying to see that same questions pop up frequently, but I agree with one of the posters above that the format in which search results are displayed does not allow for easy scanning and it requires an annoying amount of clicking and navigating in order to find something relevant in the results.

It certainly doesn't encourage the use of the search function. But hey.. the rules are the rules ofcourse, and they're there for a reason.

Alright guys lighten up and chill out! I didn't know you had to use the quotation marks to get a result either so give him a break.

jjjimmy3 could you please just try doing another search using the quotation marks and see if you have any more luck with your search, as mentioned above, just try "What car Like the Wind"

If you have no luck then feel free to send me a message and I will try to help you out with the event, after all, we are all here on this forum to try and help each other progress with GT5.

To everyone else ... there is no need for people to bite and snap at him like you are doing.

Brambos, I agree with your point, regulars don't have to read the post when they see it made.

As far as I'm concerned, new people join the forum everyday, new opinions come along with them, so new posts are needed to get these new ideas out there as people dont come on and update an old post.

No, i only make a thread when i have a question i need answers to.
What is wrong with that?

I have the same problem, I think the answer is that the forum is stacked with self-appointed moderators, very sure of themselves, but no answers, and that forums are so piled with arguments that finding answers is like looking for the lost ark. Remember: opinions are like keyboards, everyone has em. Keep trying dude, there are a few de:)cent people out there.

I searched that, the only thing that came up is this thread.

And thanks, but the thread i made a while ago asking what car to use gave me some answers.

ZR1 Race Modded. Wins you the Toyota Minolta R88C which can be used to destroy events, or solar systems.

I understand some of the the points made by people in this thread, ok, the search facility may not be the best, this guy is new to the forum but at the end of the day, as mentioned the rules are the rules.

The rules are the same for everyone and applies to everyone, and from what I've seen and experienced from moderartors they are enforced the same for everyone.

The rules are available to view at any time and you can also go to other parts of this forum to see what the moderators are saying to people, you can view their posts and you can also see all the people who have been banned or suspended for breaking the rules.

This is a private website that an individual has created and determined a set of rules for, then asked other people to enforce those rules.

All the information you need is on this website - use it.

For the record:

Yes, I don't agree with everything (the rules) but that''s just the way it is, tough, you have to deal with it and abide by the rules or go somewhere else.

And no, I'm not perfect, I have broken the rules on occassions and I've been punished for it. I try to do the right thing most of the time but sometimes I've let my emotions get the better of me or I've just been too lazy. I am only human, it happens sometimes.

Can't believe no one has said "I don't shutup, I grow up. Then I throw up. And you come along and lick it up". :x.

IMO anyone that shuts down a fellow member with a decent question, no matter how dumb it may seem, needs to go on a 1 day suspension, or anyone that is degrading to others. It's simple, if someone has a question provide the answer or maybe help by linking to it, if you don't like said question or the premis of the thread, just don't comment. It's bad business to allow the level of disrespect found here lately. I have been inclined to just delete my account in my short stay. I use quite a few forums, this place is pretty tough to get respectable answers, little lopsided on trolls and talk show hosts. IDK, maybe a forum for opinion, where the long-winded can vent all day long unobstructed, trolls can freely gripe, and a forum for tech discussion where there are clear and fully enforced rules. Moderators are probably fed up too.

LOL, that's just funny.

jjjimmy3,

The reason you're being asked to search for answers instead of making a new thread is because most of the questions you're asking have indeed already been discussed somewhere. When you search for something, don't expect the answer to be in the very first thread that comes up. It'll still take a bit of looking to find your answer.

Also, what helps people find the answer(s) they are looking for a bit quicker is using properly descriptive thread titles. ;)
