Sick of seeing racism/xenophobism online..

depeniding on my mood I may label a room for english language only just cos i dont want to hear 4-5 diff languages, other times tho if am not tired then i dont care who i race against, if i notice someone deliberatly banging people off track or they start pointless arguements with other members then al just kick all involved parties no matter what country/language
Some people are just immature dicks, u get it a lot of CoD games n all, Black ops (when i can actually get online) is usually full of your gobby kids thinking they clever. i just kick or mute em and have done with it
 
couple of days ago i entered a room, 14 finnish people all wearing speakers, going at it like a local market place :lol:
i didn't need a notice, i just left, i can't race when 14 people are talking (and i'm not going to individually mute them all either)

My welcome message is "You're already muted..."
I get kicked for using it, but that saves me the time to get kicked later on.
I just entered a room with idiots (from Greece) that kicked me for winning a race.

same. i once delibertately went into a room that said Germans/Austrians only (im British) just to annoy the racists in it by calling them racist, driving a British car (McLaren MP4-12C) and smashing into them. as soon as i touched their cars, i got kicked :)

when i see an american or any one over sea ( i'm arabic ) soo any one is just over sea what ever
i kick him out of the room not for racism i dont hate you guys but about all of those people who join us just play with and ruin the room because we are arabs

i dont know of there is anyone here hate arabs ( i hope no one hate ) but its stupid thing to do

i hate racism its destroying everything in our life
no offense for all of you guys i'm just saying what happen to us alot but all of them of course some of them show respect and they dont care if we were arabs or anything i mean its just a game have fun wihtout heart feelings ^_^

I've seen this happen to others and myself a bunch of times. Usually British, german and Spanish people who speak in a derogatory manner towards people with other nationalities and then kick them.

If you are such..you should label your room "euro only" or german only, whatever country you feel is superior.

I hate wasting time joining a room, setting up a car, going to race and getting kicked because my flag isn't euro. It's a shame people like these exist.

The term "British" encompases four seperate countries, maybe you wan't to narrow it down a little about who your referring to ?

ie, Scottish, Welsh, English. Northern Irish ?

I've witnessed some racism online also, and it's never been from three of the above...............
 
I have seen the hate first hand. I think it's redicuolos to be kicked from the lobby just because of where your from or your nationality. We are all just people playing a game.

I have never heard any racist/hate remarks in any of my rooms, if I did I would kick the person.

I think it's cool that we all have our little flag from our country of origin next to our names. It's cool to think that someone half way around the world is playing against me.

Racism comes stems from a person, not a country.

I agree with the sentiments of the OP though, but the sad truth is that some people are partisan, nationalist and racist. The internet makes them worse because of their perceived anonymity.

All you can do is walk, drive or surf away.
 
Most people don't talk, but if you are talking to somebody, you'll find out where they're from soon enough anyway.

So add me to the list of people who would rather PD remove the country flags.

Dude, it's not racist to want to chat to people in your native language. Or try to get a better connection by racing with local people. And I really don't see a point in what you did, so I appreciate it if you'd care to explain what you were trying to achieve whilst messing around in their lobby.

And with regard to many, many other posts in this thread, there's a saying that I quite like, which goes along the lines of 'Only a racist mind sees racist connotations'.

That quote is kinda off.... it seems to me that most racists fail to see themselves as racist. Apartheid, as one example, wasn't viewed as racist by those carrying out the policies, but the results speak for themselves. Racism is not a rare thing which might be why people talk about it.

Isn't it a technological miracle that we are able to sit in the comfort of our homes and i in New Zealand can race with someone 20,000km away from me on the other side of the world... That's mindblowing, and instead of embracing that technology people are actually kicking people out because of where they come from?

Agree, its interesting seeing other languages too, although I play my rooms with mic disabled because I want to hear the car and not be distracted (as well it just seems weird to me)

And yes, there are many occasions where latency is just too much, the cars will be jumping around the track, spinning out everywhere and smoking the whole place up then appearing behind you, then infront and you smash into them (likely not the first time either).
Sometimes people just don't pay attention to the "reception indicator" I don't join rooms less than 4 bars.
 
Just to be a short-ass I must say that discrimination of one by his nationality isn't actualy racism, it's xenophobia. :p

I hate this as well, but I still avoid the online racing lobbies and usually do private ones with my buddies, it's halfway through a decent fun.
 
Adding to what someone said earlier, yeah it's important you check the reception bars before entering the room - They are there for a reason, maybe sometimes your not kicked because of country but because your car is skipping and warping all over the track :D
 
The reception bars seem to show what ever PD servers feel like showing at the moment. I usually spend some time watching the race before joining in to see if there really is lag or not.

I disagree, the server reception bars work great for me, this is your connection to the host.

What they don't take into consideration is when people join that room with a wireless connection, with someone else in the house downloading movies, from the other side of the world. Then this one person ruins it for everyone, stressing the importance of checking the reception bars before you enter..

Because they all think they're Carlos Sainz, that's why and can't accept being beaten by a faster car. ;) They usually don't last long in rooms I or my friends host. 👍

As for being kicked, I just send the host of that room a message in PSN saying I knew he was scared of getting his ass whipped by me and that's why he kicked me. :cool: Then it's off to the UCD (because your list will have rotated one more cycle) then back into the online lobby to find a better room. 👍
 
Worst part is I got blasted by an Australian for booting him from a room and he went on to call me a wog......just stupid that his first thought was I'm greek and I kicked him because he's as he says, "im ozzy". He then went on to say in his messages "only ozzy reply", fair enough, I'm certainly not greek but I am from New Zealand :dopey:

These people just enjoy to kick people as they like ,because this action can let them feeling full of power in the game room .That's why they won't specify anything then they can gather some target to kick.
 
If they don't like you, then too bad for them. Just ignore them and take your next step. Anyways it always makes you feel nice that the ones you play with feel comfortable with you.

There is no way tolerating racism.

Please don't over exaggerate on lobby's like "only country xxx".
They are "usually" set up to prevent lags. (Just so you mind, that not every "strange" lobby name has a racist background.

100% agree. I use to do a lot of GT500 racing but was constantly being kicked because my flag was a different color than the rest of the room.

That is what im saying all the time, people bragging about their 100 mbit etc, but they maybe run wireless internet while having multiple people on their network downloading stuff etc. Also the latency is very important, you get bad latency if you use cheap wireless equipment etc. I have done a test, and with wire, i got better latency than with wireless. Just saying.

High internet connection isnt equal to laggfree gamin. Pleas learn that. I have entered rooms with 0 bars, and still everything works well, no lagging etc, and no people say im lagging. So it depends. I have also entered rooms with full bars, and i have experianced lagg.

The bars doesnt tell you everything, because i have hosted rooms aswell, and i have seen many players from far away countries playing well. Considering the low ammount of data that is transfered, i dont think it matters if you have 6, 8 or even 100 mbit connection. The upload of data can be important though, but mot adsl can send over 600 kb/s.

One thing is sure, the longer distance between you and the host = higher latency. But if you running wireless while downloading stuff etc, you get even more bad latency. Solution, well optimize your connection and do the best of the situation. Then also clear your cache in gt5, it can help some times.

Some times the internet provider is just bad, and it doesnt matter if you have good download speed, you still have issiues. Many landlords make high speed internet possible in their appartments, but the connection is serial connected = when one person acounter issiues, those issues affect the others as well.

As with all other things, there are many factors to take in consideration while discussing online gaming. Some times the PD servers can be overloaded and over all "weak". As far as i know, people that can afford ps3 and wide screen tv's, they should affort at least 8 mbit internet connection, which is good enough for online gaming.

The other part is that gt5 online mode is poorly implemented, and people that had no isiues on other games, had isiues playing online in gt5.

Well, enough of that.

The most racist people i have meet is people from US and UK. When ever they see a foreign flag they start with their racism. It also to bad that people dont know the differance between sweden, switzerland and middle eastern countries :/.

I entered a room a couple of days ago, an there were a bunch of rednecks saying "get the **** out your foreigner".

I also dont like those bs hosts that take their countrymens side even if they are the ones braking the server rules. Very strange.
