Good call, it's probably better you get kicked. You don't want to waste your energy on people who are ignorant and small minded and nationalistic or racist.

Do what you think is right. Start your own rooms with all welcome.

Although there is one equally despised race of beings and those are dirty drivers. Segregate them into their own rooms ;)

I've read in other discussions (there are 100s) that people flag-kick because their connections suck.

I, however, can host lobbies with twelve + people, from any continent, with high race quality & mics on. It's in MY lobbies, that anyone is welcome.

Oh boo.hoo.

Ever been to a Native American rez, or any segregated area where you are not welcome?? You get looks, ppl ask who you with what you doing here.

Take a stroll thru reality check city, and realise that getting booted from GT5 lobbies isnt the worst thing racism has to offer, BUCK UP.

And dont make generalisations, most of my PSN buddies and most the rooms i join are Euro and your driving does the talking not a little flag. Maybe you are lagging, suck or have bad taste, i boot ppl for that over Nationality (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH RACE), you assume bc a Brit boots you hes an anglo-saxon, ignoring the fact that there are huge Indian, Black and Arab populations in the UK as with any other modern society with Immigration.

Yes it is senseless, but if it took GT5 to make you see the scope of racism and take a stand, thats selfish and pathetic. rantover.

If the comments are typed its logged on PSN severs, all you need do is log into PSN on your pc and grief report the ID of person and apr time it happened. Sony can then look at what has been typed.

👍 cool. But still, ppl using headsets can call you whatever and get away with it. :indiff:

I honestly think its BS that people can talk about in the way they do through headsets. I mean PD should incorporate a system for when you want to report a player. You could select things he/she said wrongly about you or others. Would make a much more enjoyable experience.

Yes unfortunately nothing can be done about it, If I hear someone verbally being racist in my lobbies there gone strait away.

I'm sure that quite a few people set themselves up...

I run a room entitled "UK Drifters" and yet I see Germans, Portuguese, Americans and all sorts of other nationalities entering the room

No wonder they enter. I might enter a room entitled "UK Drifters" because it sounds like/or can be mistaken for a room for 'british cars' to drift with?

How would you read into this then, UK only or kicked.

that is a lot more obvious

I try to make it obvious, But it doesn't stop non UK folk from entering. Very annoying when i want to race a certain mate who has not a good connection and still use an open room and meet fellow UK racers. A foriegn body can bring the room down or at the least my mate gets disconnected regulary. Unfortunately he lives on a farm miles from anywhere and cannot improve his broadband.

I dont call it racism if I kick all other flags in those circumstances, and if said mate isnt racing then the above room title isnt shown.

I know what you mean, you entitled 'or kick' so any non UK entering saw this and knows what you are about. No matter how bad their english, everybody gets 'uk only or KICK'.

Its ok to kick them right out imo.
Just curious, do you kick irish then??? ;)

They should let us more space on titles, so you could write: SorryMyM8gotBadInetPlsUkOnlyOrImustKickSorry:)

If you click on their name it brings up a report player choice, and a mute choice.💡

Lucky enough not to have had any Irish when my mate is on, hmm dont know what i would do, probably try and see if there is lag or voices drop if not he/she would stay.

That method of reporting doesnt work sony dont monitor it. To report someone you have to go onto PS online with your pc and do a greif report staing the ID of person and apr time, Yoy also have to be logged into your account on the pc to do this.

I've been in some of your race lobbies Mel, and while you can host race lobbies with drivers from around the world, they definitely were not lag free. People quit or threatened to quit your race series because the lag of other drivers was ruining their race experience.

I have no trouble kicking anyone who is lagging in an open lobby or in a series race no matter where they are from. Some people may take this to a bigger extreme and kick anyone who doesn't live in the same country as they do as a preventative measure and I can understand that. To me the bare minimum standard before one's driving skills are even evaluated, is to come to the race with a connection that is compatible with other drivers in the race. If it isn't, I'm not going to make them suffer because of one person wanting to race, the lagger has to make the sacrifice and work on the connection issue from their end.

Its a shame that so many people don't know that RACISM does NOT refer to where you are from, but what you're genetics are.

The word you are looking for is XENOPHOBIA!

Get it right people!

Yes, all of you, please edit all your posts and change the word 'racism' to 'xenophobia'.
While you at it change the word 'car' to 'vehicle'.

Naw, seriously?

Must really everything have to be politically correct???
I mean you are totally right but if the word was changed the core of the discssion remains the same.

sorry for bad english

I run a league that is "Euro" only , but not because i only like europeans, i find every nation has good guys and idiots, its the same the world over, but with no dedicated servers go try and run a room with 6 Australians and 6 Brits and see what happens.

speaking of xenophobia rather than ill-defined racism, why are the vast majority of players racing with Spanish flags dirty drivers who like to ram? To the same extent why are most with German flags fast, British flags slow and American flags polite?

Title amended for people complaining about the difference between racism and xenophobism.

Seriously, it's called "accuracy". or "precision" if you prefer and has nothing to do with political correctness, another word you might want to look up the definition to while you're at it. Racism and Xenophobia are two completely different words with completely different meanings. It's like talking about cars and referring to them as motorcycles or talking about men and referring to them as women. It's different and referring to them interchangeably as the same thing does each one a disservice.

To me, discrimination based on race, country of origin, gender, class are all the same.

Arguing what xenophobism means and what racism means is really besides the point.
I know most people get it.

Who cares, surely this is about racing.

However, if you don't want people in your room then label it.

I can understand not wanting certain UK speaking country's, they do annoy a lot.

I don't know about anyone else but it seems like it's usually Quebec rooms who kick people for these reasons.

I never have these issues with UK, Japan, German etc servers whether it's drifting or racing

why are the vast majority of players racing with Spanish flags dirty drivers who like to ram?

That part I agree. I dont know if its the natural temperament of spanish or why this happens. I also think than spanish have the most of "NATIONALITY only!" -rooms. Also spanish like to take over rooms. few spanish enter, and when they get to be the admin they start kicking other nationalities out by some light reasons. :( THIS DOESNT APPLY TO ALL SPANISH THOUGH :sly:. Might just be a side effect of the huge polpularity of GT5 in Spain if I have understood correctly - more young and "casual" players online.

BUT why I contribute to the conversation is the reason for all this what you call "racism" or "nationalism". I think the main reason some far away countrys / other countrys players get kicked or asked to leave is the fact that many times it creates some lag and even unstability in the race / room. Purely a network technical reason - nothing racism or personal... just label the room like "UK ONLY" or "Friends only" and Im fine with that.

Myself, I don't mind anyone from any ethnicity, as long as they can speak one of the languages I can, for the sake of communication and setting up stuff, ect.

Same here my fiend list is multi racial and multi national they come from US Canada Europe Puerto Rico all ages we just love the game and the ignorant people only make me laugh. I think it's much better than it was when the game first out!!

I have had only one run in with racism/nationalism online gt5, and it just so happend to be someone from spain. I was singled out after a crash he was involved in from the start and I was collected as a result of people trying to pass others slowing for an accident. I was called a "stupid american redneck" who "can't drive" cause I'm "a stupid white american". I was born and raised in california with mexican roots from both sides of my family. I wasn't too offended but it was rude of him to continue sending me hate messages after he was kicked from the room that I was not host to.
