Sick's Race Room has been up and running for about five years now and in that time has held at least 30 championships. This thread was started in response to a members complaint that he struggled to find details of our current championship series.

The club offers high quality online racing with a classic theme. Series are normally inspired by historic events, old race programmes and the achievements of drivers, some of whom, though famous in their day, may be beginning to slip from our memories.

We also hold the type of events which we would like to see within a game event creator or career mode - often alternative cars have to be used as the ones needed for historic accuracy are missing from GT6.

We invite you to join the club and race with us on Wednesdays and / or Fridays - we accept drivers of all standards from enthusiastic online novice to experienced sim racer - we just ask that you try to drive cleanly, patiently and with respect for your fellow drivers, just as you would on a real track.

To join send a Friend Request via your PS3 to Sick Cylinder marked GTPlanet. He will then issue you with a club invitation. Subject to space you will become a Reserve Driver in the Championship of your choice (or both current championships if you wish). After attending three meetings you will become a Regular Driver with a guaranteed slot on the grid. If you miss three meetings (or request) you will step back to Reserve Driver. To enable multi-class racing to be held from time to time, drivers are graded - championship winners are Platinum. Drivers who have shown consistent speed are Gold. Drivers shown as P G are on their way to Gold status. Normal drivers including your Host are grade Silver.

Do not worry about being too fast or too slow - there is likely to be someone faster or slower - just do your best and above all enjoy your racing.

Future Plans: Gran Turismo Sport, Asetto Corsa, Project Cars and Project Cars 2

I received a PS4 for Christmas 2016 from my wife and in February 2017 started hosting races on Mondays on the PS4 / Project Cars (Game of the year edition - GOTY Edition).

Friday championships on PS3 / GT6 will cease in April 2017 (at the end of the current championship - Dave MacDonald Tribute: Shelby v Chevy Season 2).

Wednesday championships on PS3 / GT6 will cease in April 2017 (at the end of the current championship - Dan Gurney Tribute Series) and will switch to Project Cars (GOTY Edition).

Why Project Cars Game of the year edition? - Gran Turismo Sport (GTS) has not been launched and we don't know when it will, but it appears to exclude classic / historic content - it was therefore necessary to find an alternative as some members were starting to leave our series for the pleasures of the PS4.

Project Cars GOTY Edition contains 125 cars, some of them historic together with a large number of tracks, some of which are laser scanned. The sounds and visuals are good and all cars are fully detailed. It provides good racing and a lot of exciting championships using the classic content are planned (Note the GOTY Edition of the game includes all of the DLC). There are a bewildering array of tuning options, but I will be keeping the transition easy by identifying cars which can be raced enjoyably on standard settings.

Project Cars 2 - This is currently scheduled for release late Septemberish 2017. Subject to the games release date, quality and classic content we will switch to PC2 in early 2018.

Asetto Corsa (AC) The basic game has limited content, but this is currently being swollen by a comprehensive DLC programme which is adding many excellent cars. However I consider the game in its basic form too limited in content for classic championship racing and do not think it is practicable to plan races on a game with a large DLC programme. Hopefully a game of the year edition featuring all the DLC will be launched in due course and at that time the use of AC will be re-evaluated and compared with Project Cars 2.

Hi Sick. For the second Wednesday in a row I've got a social engagement, I can't quite believe it. Out to get my ears blasted by live music at a local pub tonight.

I'm having trouble finding the thread to Wednesday again, I don't suppose you could put a link in, could you?

Cheers, Zo.
