I can't seem to understand how the time remaining points system works. You pass each checkpoint with time left and it says you get "X" amount of points. When you finish the lap there are points given for time remaining. "X" times 10,000. How is this number converted from the points you get at each checkpoint? Also confused with the max combo points. P.S. Is this point system explained somewhere in the game?

From the top of my head the system works like this, it's not explained in the GT6 manual:
  • As you race the points count up according to the speed you travel
  • You get a multiplier bonus if you overtake a car, it stacks up for more cars overtaken (a combo)
  • the multiplier is applied to your points as you race, so if you have multiplier 2, you get twice as much points in the same time
  • You lose all combo multiplier bonus if you hit a car or go off track
  • You have to make a segment in time, time left stacks up for the next segment
  • You get time bonus for cars overtaken, jumps and high speed at speed checkpoints
  • You get time penalty when hitting cars, or going off track
  • At the end of the race you get a bonus for your time left, for total cars overtaken and max. combo, and a bonus for a perfect run without any incidents that caused losing bonus
Hope this helps. :)

EDIT: here is a post with a video of one lap, the thread contains more info about Sierra Time Rally.

One other question I have is why did they come up with this beautiful circuit only to be left behind by most people after they gold the 4 challenges (A.K.A. Goodwill)? Online gives you credits, but other than that there are no credits to be made after gold. You can better your points, but no credits. You should get credits for each time you finish. It would make a fun credit generator.

That remains a mystery kept by the inner circle at PD. :) I don't care much about the credits, but time rally would be a nice online mode. :D
