I restricted my garage view to "Nissan only", and was surprised that I could not see the Sileighty I was sure I had bought. (In fact, I also couldn't see the one I had forgotten that I had won!)

Eventually I found it by sorting by year and looking for '98. Strangely, the two instances did not end up sorted adjacently!

Indeed, when you are in your Sileighty, Nissan is not marked in yellow as the manufacturer, and Japan is not indicated as the country of origin. In fact, "Tuner Village" is the "country of origin". (the shoulder key even works to get there), and it is at any of about five tuners that you must tune it.

It doesn't appear that the car is labelled anywhere in the game as a "Nissan Sileighty".

The weirdest thing is that, not only is this car the prize for the "Silvia Sisters" Nissan manufacturer's event, it's also an eligible entrant!

I searched for "Sileighty", and didn't spot anything mentioning this.

Apparently, the Sil80 wasn't an official model.

nope, and neither was a one-via

they are just cars that people pieced together on their own with scrapyard parts (say... after tearing off their front clip in a drifting accident...)
It was often cheaper to place a S13 Silvia front clip on a 180 - hence the name SilEighty. Alternatively, a one-via has a 180 front end and silvia tail (not in game)

It was never a Nissan production model.

There is a production Sileighty model, and the one in GT4 is the one. But it wasn't built by Nissan, only marketed by them. The company that built them is a Japanese specialty automotive company I belive. The production Sileighty models came with specially set-up suspension for drifting the touge and had an extra 20hp on tap thanks to new camshafts and a tuned ecu. Only 400 were made. And the Onevia is just a junkyard special or a USDM 240SX coupe. :)

Edit: the Sileighty in GT4 is SUPPOSED to be the production model, but the one in the game is just the 180SX Type X with an aftermarket Silvia S13 front end, how I know this is a while ago in GT4 I owned both of these cars and tested them on Trial Mountain with N2 tires. And to my amazement they drove exactly the same!

So my conclusion is that the Sileighty in GT4 WAS supposed to be the production model but PD got a tad lazy and just made a 180SX with a different front end. :)

I almost wonder if the reason I have two of them (both ugly silver (Spark Silver Metallic?)) is because I searched for it the way I described (by restricting garage to Nissans only) when considering buying one from the used car lots, and so convinced myself I didn't have one already, when, in fact, I did have the one as a prize from the Silvia Sisters event.

Wow, thanks for the info! 👍 What a great read for those that aren't in the know. :)

To me they should of at least get a blue color for a sileighty

...lemme guess.... because you want to replicate Mako and Sayuki right?

meh, I guess I can't be too criticial.

Show me a picture of a One-Via! I've never seen one!
They look like a USDM S13 240sx coupe. Google it as daan suggests.

Yeah I guess so. I already got Takumi's ride [shigeno-version] and a black Evo III so maybe.

Heres another little nugget of info about the Sileighty: In GT4 it's based on the 180SX Type X trim, while in real life Nissan ceased sale of the Sileighty long before they introuduced the Type X trim. And yet I'm still convinced PD intended the one in the game to be the factory one and not the junkyard special. Oh, and the reason why the 180SX and Sileighty don't come in blue in GT4 is because the Type X was not available with alot of the standard colors of the Silvia. Now you ask "then why is the Sileighty in Initial D blue?" Simple, It's a junkyard special. If you look at the car closely in the show, it says "180SX" on it and not "Sileighty". A telltale sign that it's not a production Sileighty nor a Type X, just a base model 180SX. :)

It could probably reach speeds in excess of 130 mph.

According to a book I read it was capable of 147MPH 👍 (the SR20DET-engined 180SX) :)

Not sure about the KA24-engined USDM 240SX hatch though.

The book also said it could keep up with a Porsche 944 (I really don't believe that)

Sileighty conversions are quite common - converted ones anyway, I've seen quite a few around my city. Infact my mate's brother has a Sileighty sitting in his garage in bits at the moment. He's keeping the CA18det but putting a turbo off an XR6 Turbo Ford Falcon on it and putting a manual box in.

Yeah, my brother's first reaction to our cousin's car (which he brought with him from the US... emotional attachment  ) was: "That's a OneVia!"

Wow. Thanks for pointin me in the direction of seein' a One-via. Looks awesome, in my opinion, far better than a Sil-eighty. 👍

One-vias look pretty average, it's not an overly popular conversion anyway. A Sileighty is however. A 240sx is not a One-via, it's a 240sx. They have different front bumpers I think.

One-via = 180SX front-end + Silvia
USDM S13 240SX Coupe = 180SX front end + S13 Silvia body + crappy truck engine

The one-via isn't a specific model by any means -- any 180SX bumper will work.

Stop blasting the KA24!... a lot of great cars have had it!... like... errh....

this may take a while...

Actually, the bumper on a 240sx is quite different looking to a real 180sx front.

The 240SX (RS13) bumpers are the same a Japanese CA18 180sx front bumpers, but different to SR20.

KA24E: 240SX, Hardbody Pickup, Axxess, Stanza
KA24DE: Xterra, Frontier, Altima, 240SX

Is it a bad thing that I only know what a Sileighty is because of Initial D?

I also know a way to find it in arcade mode 👍
