...I've always wondered this, but if I want stiffer suspension, do I set the kgt/mm higher or lower? I've never been able to work it out!
 
Higher number = stiffer.

So 5kg/mm means 5kg of pressure on the spring compresses it 1mm. 10kg/mm needs 10kg to compress 1mm and so on.
