Silly times at the ring

So you're ignoring the magazine which has said it verified the time by replay by trumping it saying KY said the F1 car couldn't go sub 4'50 and that's it. Ok...

How are replays not proof enough? Like has been said before, there will always be someone faster/better, no matter if you think you're the "best/fastest". I don't have to watch veilsidebr's replay to believe that he did it.

That competition that was held by Wheels Magazine was bit of a dissapointment.

I totally missed it so I didn't enter but spoke to a person who has and made it to the top ten which he had his name printed on that result said that they allowed wall banging and shortcuts in that challenge which could mean that F1 that took first place COULD of done that.

It might of been a GT4 comeptition but it was more hugely to do with advertisement of the magazine designed to attract people so the officials who ran the comp did not really go into small details like shortcuts and contact with the wall that may have enhanced the lap time. We all know that GT community is hard against those styled driving. Well I am anyways.

As for veilsidebr's time its really bloody awesome for what he has achieved. He has provided video/replay so there is no denying that it was dirty or just a wishfull thinking. I've attempted to do the same challenge and managed to pull 5 minutes flat (without NOS). That was about an hour or so of trying so I see no reason with more practise will lead to better time.

Anyone who might be interested here's my slow 5 minute lap with Minolta Toyota @ 'Ring on Arcade Mode Click Here
This video may not be impressive but it just shows that you don't need to be spraying NOS to get sub 5 minutes with this car.

If replays appear to prove the impossible then they are not real, I agree with your comment that there is always somebody faster/better but the point is cars have limits even in games like gt4 and no matter how good or howfast you are nobody can exceed the limits of the car,if these people can live with there conciences then so be it but Ill bet you never ever see a sub 4.50 lap verified on this site (even if they do reinstate the verification system) because this site has rules about clean laps which I will always adhere to even though some may not.

What the point of providing replay for verification than?

What do you mean by this? Are you saying that the replay was somehow altered?

This is obviously the problem with "On-Line Racing" in a game that actually doesn't have online racing. You never actually know if people are playing by the rules or not, so there will always be people who doubt. The only times when verification is really needed and asked for is if there are times that are so far ahead of the pack that it's a little suspicious. It will be this way until GT5 and (hopefully) actual online play. :indiff:

you said it yourself to make sure the lap was clean as was not the case in the motor mags contest.

By saying not real I meant not of a clean lap if its not clean it should not count for anything.

Yeah but that comp allowed such driving. At least the replays proves the styles of driving that was used to achieve the final time. This can all mean that it'll decide if your lap is valid or not depening on the rules of the comp you're in.

I might of misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that replay could be altered or something like that to show they had acheived faster time than really possible.

I haven't seen veilsidebr's replay, but from what I understand it was perfectly clean.

I have seen veilsidebrs replay on video its perfectly clean, but the point I was originally making is gt4 is a driving simulator and your not simulating driving if your running around walls bouncing of objects and cutting corners, you cant do these things in a real car hence the rules of this site for fastest laps,
Two Wheels - Two or more wheels must remain in contact within the clearly defined track surface or rumble strips at all times, unless the car is airborn.
No Contact - No section of the car can come into contact with any obstacle or vertical surface at any time. This includes but is not limited to walls, tire barriers, guardrail, and other vehicles.
No Cheating - The use of any method or external device designed to interfere with or modify the game from its original, intended form in any way is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to using the "reverse" button to shift faster, game bugs, and GameShark devices. under these rules a lap time of 4.42 is impossible in a F1 in circut practice mode on the ring, those of us who strive for faster times under these rules know this but without verification its possible to enter any time you like with only your concience to answer to, I dont think its practical for everyonr to have there times verified but certainly in cases where an unusually fast time has been entered it should have to be proven or removed, as things are people are getting disheartened, when you do a fastest lap it is normal to want to prove it and until the verification system is used correctly these time are meaningless i,e, the liars are spoiling it for everyone.

roadrunnerx, if you're worried about the verification system here, try GTDatabase as I find this site is more moderated with the rules you've mentioned above in regards with condition of posting times.

I hear you about the shortcuts, wallbanging etc. That was the main reason I insisted in only doing the Licencse tests as the game disqualify any of those thus you knew the time you're competing againt were presumingly clean.

At what level people make of GT4, it'll be different to everybody. Some of us are more serious than others about the rules of achieving hot lap time. But as long as this game allows shortcuts and no damage upon contact with wall, it'll keep happening. Just gotta hope this'll be fixed in GT5 :)

In regards GT4 being a real driving sim, it might be one of the best out there but its far from being real. It may simulate how a car would behave in certain conditions but it'll never simulate true sense of G-force and speed with FEAR that goes with it so even a clean super quick lap time doen't mean that a person will do the same in a real car so its really unrealistc how you may drive in GT4.

EDIT: just to make things clear I'm not knocking GT4 in any way. I'm a HUGE suker for GT series and I think its the best thing that has happened in gaming industry and for car manufactures for its marketing role.
I envy you roadrunnerx for meating Kazunori-san as he is a true champion IMO 👍 It would be an honour to meet him.

so u are saying i just short cuted or wall rode in my 4'44.650?

I can asure you that i never shortcuted or wallrode in my life, and also i never posted a dirty time with like 3 wheels off grass/sand during my GT career. 👍

Hmm, roadrunner, how can you deny the lap when the proof is right if front of your eyes?
To me it looks like you are confusing arcade mode with GT mode. From what you've said it looks like your time was done in gt mode and not arcade mode like veils. Remember the quick tune in arcade ;).

Seems that just if i do the lap in front of some guys, that they will believe in my time. :)

I have seen the vid of your 4.48 lap and was impressed it was perfectly clean but not a perfect lap which Im sure you agree, Im looking forward to seeing your 4.44 lap not because I think its not real but to see how good it is, if theres anyone out there that can do a 4.42 its probably you but it wont be in a F1 one in GT mode, (although Id like to just how fast you could go in a F1 in GT mode) honest guys like you are not the problem you do clean laps with videos to prove it that your dont mind showing ,the problem is the people who dont stick to the rules or just post silly times for the hell of it.

Just for the record I am aware that veilsidebrs lap was in arcade mode and have never once doubted that lap time its the lap times in GT mode that are the questionable ones especially in the F1 that can not be tuned or have softer rubber fitted and I think veilsidebr agrees

Yes i agree 4'42 in F1 on GT mode is impossible. Altough this combo is a "dark room" for me now in arcade as i didn´t really tested it yet, just done quick laps, nothing serious.

hey guys, i consider myself to be alright at gt 4 and the ring is by far my favourite course, i play it repeatedly (mostly in gt mode), and i can only achieve a best time of 5.28 ish in the minolta, that said i find it very hard to beleive a time of 4.42 (a saving of almost 45 secs on my time) can be achieved under the same rules i.e adhering to the gtplanet rules, using the same game mode, and no nitrous (unless stated).

i actually don´t consider the 5'28 at gtmode the limit time, im sure you can achieve a low 4'50 or even step into the 4'4x´s in GT mode, with the minolta fully tuned but not using NOS.

Also guys if you can pull off a record time on an unclean run, more than 2 wheels off the road specifically, then you deserve it, that's mad control. I have trouble if 1 tire catches grass. But then again i don't use traction control.

Obviously Arcade Time Trial

I think everyone is getting Arcade and GT mode practice mode confused here.

We've established the 4:4x sec F1 laps are done in arcade mode, therefore it looks like the top few laps in the GT4 practice mode leaderboard are in the wrong place. Despite what a few people have said there is no way in hell that time is possible with the F1 car in GT mode.

I've been lapping all afternoon in the Sauber C9 and the best I've managed in GT mode practice so far is 5:00.6, it had quite a few small mistakes in it which would shave 5 seconds at most but to get under 4:55 would have to be a special lap. Now I've found the setup on the C9 I'm going to have a go with the Minolta, but I can't see it being much faster than the C9. 30hp more and 40kg lighter will help on the straights, but it's the bumps that I have most trouble coping with, if the track was smooth I rekon I'd be into 4:50's no problem.

Does anyone know what the fastest GT MODE Practice time is? The 4:50's looking slightly possible if the Minolta proves faster than the C9 for me, but how valid is the 4:56 C60 time?

I saw that 4 min video with the Minolta does it really accelerate that fast I mean it looks almost unrealistic. Did he use the Turbo cheat?

I think people (including veilsidebr) are missing the point. A 4'42 or 4'43 might be the best possible laptime from the 88C-V, but I believe the F1 car is inherently faster. The stats agree with me. I remember a Best Motoring video where they were talking with one of the Nissan personnel who was involved with one of their cars (I believe it was the R92CP). He was saying they turned the turbo boost up for qualifying so the cars were producing 1200bhp and they were as quick as the F3 cars. F3 cars are, obviously, not a patch on F1 cars, so there's a huge gulf there.

yea that was called Best motoring Fuji Fast
Fuji_Fast_front_sm.jpg

but he was saying the cars were faster than F1 cars he was saying i dont think even michael schumacher has expericneces cars this fast

i think i have it let me confirm

yep he ( masahiro hasemi )

Hasemi.jpg

talks about when he used to race yjr NISSAN R90cp car

quote " the f1 cars of today ...are no match for these group C cars " ..im sure schumacher has never driven a car like this "

but then some other f300 guy talks about how he was doing 1 14 seconds laps but he goes on to say he holds the course record so its abit unclear

but like yo say its all about power to weight and always will be unless bush re writes the laws on Physics again

Daniel holland is a great friend of me, best known as "Holl01" here. He is surely leggit. But that man in the "4'39.039" is so liar as someone who said that jumped for suicide from the 20th floor and got alive without even a broken leg. 👍

If u don´t trust me, wait for my 4'44 lap video and just search in where could u extract a blast 5 or 6 seconds.

what car was used in challenge one to get these times

how do you put pictures!?!?!?

My fastest time in GTMode was a 5:10 with the R89CP with no driver aids, NOS, and on Medium Tires (R3). With a little more practice I think I could get another 5 secs. out of the car and tires. :sly:

I however find it very hard to believe that someone did a lap in 4:39.xxx like stated by that mag, but maybe I guess. it just seems so nutty! :scared:

(Personally for the record I think that the Minolta and the F1 are very close in speeds)

if its a record , nice but saying it's arcase no thank you its made on the free run in GT mode thank you very much so nice try no cigar in arcade mode. or the guy used a specs disk to run gt mode in arcade wich makes it the same as on the free run of GT mode . the video impression also told me that corresponding time in irl does not match up so the time would be disqualified if it was in my racing lot. watch the video closey and stopwatch it the time does not match wich it would do if you would actually play it in arcade mode.
