Simple question about earning?

Some people claim they make 117 thousand or 98 grand from like the wind indy race. I only make 84 thousand everytime why do people make more then me on the same races? Does it have to do with the car you use for example if you use a car way more powerfull then the A.I racers you get less money? This is pissing me off so if anyone can shine some light on this that would be great.

It's not the like the wind indy race it's the amercian championship indy race.
