Simple question about online multiplayer daily races

Ok,
I’m all geared up to play online, and it keeps telling me I need a subscription.
Can someone brief me on how GT7 works for online racing.
Sorry if this seems simple, but I learn quick.

Do you have a subscription to Playstation Network (PSN)? It's not to do with GT, but Sony/Playstation. You need a membership to play anything online. You can subscribe right through your Playstation.

Yes, I have had that for a long time.

So if I understand, my PlayStation account(no fees), has nothing to do with PS plus.
And I need a PlayStation plus subscription to play online??
It displayed 1 month, 3 months, and one year.
Hey, I’m not trying to be cheap,
I have been playing GT since the first one, and was looking forward to a different angle.
