Tried the Veyron today for a few laps, game seems to have progressed quite a bit since I last played. There doesn't seem to be many that play the game though going by amount of people taking part on leaderboards. I managed to get number 1 time for my Skillquant level event by over a second although I guess more people will try later on.

Nobody shows up for the non prize events, I've won a load of them in the past with laptimes that weren't even that great by my own standards, where as in the prize events I have to give my very best and usually still get outdone in the last few hours. Had it where I've been 2 seconds faster than 2nd place for nearly 2 weeks only for someone to come in at the last minute and go near 1 second faster and get knocked down 5 places by others who do the same.

I drove around until I managed 1 clean lap in the Veyron hotlap event and then parked it, the car doesn't seem as overly grippy and easy to drive as how I remember it from last time, but it can still be driven really really hard and is capable of posting really fast times.

Edit : Just checked, still 2nd fastest in the 900-1000 range and the lap was terrible. I think at some point I want to get into the 1000-1100 range, before I took a break from sim racing I was up there, when I came back it was down at 993, not sure how that happened. It seems the other SQ ranges run on a different circuit, I find it quite annoying that players are restricted to their SQ range if they are offering different circuits.... Not much of a fan of BRNO.

I hope when SRW shuts down with the recent financial woes that they do something with the content they have. It'd be a shame to see all those licenses, cars and tracks go to waste. IMHO if they released a more conventional game where you pay once and get the content they may be on to a hit although what call is there for yet another sim with no dynamic track surface, no dynamic weather and gmotor2 tire physics.

What they need to do is scrap the current pricing system and make ALL cars a dollar. That would let people pick out the 30 or 40 cars they like and want. They also need to let people create their own lobbies, being stuck with the 4 to 8 lobbies SRW decide to make is why I don't play the game more.

The way the game is currently setup is to restrictive and purchasing a car is a real gamble. You have no way of knowing if the car you want to purchase can ever be used in multi player. If SRW don't create a lobby using it then your stuck with hotlapping the car as your only option.

I agree with this. There's just too much turning me away from the game to consider playing it regularly. Also that the last few times I've had really good races, some idiot has gone out of his way to purposefully take me out.

That was one of the features they were trying to get implemented in the future.

I stopped playing the game about a month ago. I enjoyed the tracks, ffb, and the physics, but didn't really care for the amount of people playing with mouse & keyboard. I mean that's great that you can do that, but trying to do oval racing with people like that always turned into a crash fest at some point.

My other big turn off was lack of participation. I usually race between 11:00pm & 1:00am (GMT -5) most nights. Lack of people on was always my main problem. Doing hot-laps by myself is only fun for a little bit.

I did enjoy the QR when there were people on. That's assuming you get past turn 1 without getting punted or wrecked.

I bought one car pack (It was one for $15 that had about 20 cars I think), but I maybe only used 5/6 of those. The main cars were the street cars when they had the mixed car quick races. Probably purchased another 10 cars or so with credits. Usually cars I knew I was only going to race that weekend or whatever.

I had hopes for it when I got into it, but as other people have stated, it just somes that your always racing the same QR in the same cars over and over.

I just tried this game for the first time. I was actually racing with a few of you guys yesterday. 👍 The physics are pretty impressive but I gotta say the whole experience was frustrating.

I spent hours tweaking the FFB (Logitech G25), and ended up on something playable, but I can't seem to get any communication from the car; when the front tires let go, when the brakes are locking up, anything. The tire squeal is vague, the sense of speed is lacking, and in the heat of a race the FFB might as well be mute. Sometimes the FFB is literally mute, when it "gives up" and I have to use the "Reset Force Feedback" keybind they offer in the options. :odd: Trying to keep on top of everything explicitly -- traction, braking, steering angle, etc. -- made for a very tense and weary driving experience.

The game also crashed more often than not in the switch from qualifying to warm-up, which was supremely irritating when people actually showed up to the session. For the most part, no one was racing in the events I wanted (or could access with free cars), and there aren't that many to choose from. Trying to race the Evo X in Quick Race, the race leaders might as well have had better-compound tires with the way they exploited front end grip I couldn't even find. One time when I hit the starting line in a kart, I accidentally left it in gear with auto-clutch turned off, killing my engine on spawn, and leaving me stranded out of the race. :grumpy:

All I wanted to do was earn enough credits to buy the GT86, but what can I do with the car after that? Based on what you guys are saying here, not much. :indiff:

I wish I could directly pay for the cars through PayPal. That would make life with SimRaceway SO much better, because they're so cheap, however you've got to pay atleast $15 is it?

Bit lame, but the game is good and fun.

That's a typical F2P trick, I don't think there's a single such game that doesn't do that. I'm just glad they didn't try to obscure the true cost of things using an intermediate currency... Well, they haven't yet anyway. I wonder if they'll drop the real money thing and just make you buy credits and then get cars with credits?

Also is it me or have all the recent TDTs only featured expensive cars? Then again I don't really know why I care, I haven't actually touched SRW in ages.

..... I wonder if they'll drop the real money thing and just make you buy credits and then get cars with credits?

Actually they do have that. They have 2 ways of paying for cars, they have the funds way and the credits way. Credits you pay for for at least $10. And funds you pay for, which is at least $15.

Wow, noone has been in this thread in a while. Hi, I just tried this racing sim and I enjoyed it for the most pat, but I'm having issues with it.

1. I bought a few cars, but the game is not letting me use them.
2. I can't even access the quick race events.

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.

I haven't done much of any sim racing for a good while, there also hasn't been any new content added to SRW for quite a while, and to be fair most of the discussions in this thread was talking about new content.

They have been updating the physics on a lot of cars though, which is always good. I think people have largely lost interest with Simraceway due to the fact that things are just moving too slowly with the development of the game, many of the things they talked about last year that would be in the sim early 2013 are still not here. There also doesn't seem to be any indication if they are going to ever allow user made races.

That last bit is probably the most important thing of all, they have all this great content and you can't really do anything with it. They do run quick races, hotlapping events and weekend official races but it really is not enough to cover how much content they have in the game, and when you're paying so much for content it isn't very pleasing to find you can't use it for anything.

So yeah, I think that is why interest has faded for this title.

I've been noticing that now as well. I actually installed this game a few months back, but never got around to playing it. I just thought I would give it a try now as something to keep me distracted when waiting for another racing sim that I want to play.

SRW is a total disapointment on all level and does not seem like any improvements are going to happen any time soon.
I had fun with it for a short time, but discovered quickly it is very limited.
Netkar Pro and Race 07 are keeping me busy and very entertained.
I should have unsubscribed from this thread a long time ago, doing it now!

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a total disappointment. It's a free to play game, so I think on that alone it deserves some credit. SRW is quite limited, that is a flaw.

There is only one thing SRW needs to do to keep its users happy, which is allow users to set up their own rooms. Because the current "you MUST race this car on this track" thing is sort of lame. But the test drive days are good, and they keep those without the funds occupied as they get to drive interesting vehicles and all the lobbies are set to suit.

But even then, it's not like there's no good racing. Today I jumped into the GT40 @ Watkins Glen in Quick Race and had a great time racing with the other users, mainly one player I was facing the entire time. Pretty much every race it was him and me battling for 1st and 2nd while holding a decent distance from everyone else. And I haven't had many issues with people wrecking others. And everytime I've been involved in an accident, users have been polite and understanding. And considering this is a game anyone can pick up and play, that's quite commendable.

The car/track selection is starting to get quite good, with a nice mix of cars, and some very nicely made tracks. The quality of the 3D modelling is excellent, as are the physics. Sometimes car pricing goes mental though, but I guess that's a consequence of a free to play game. But even then, it's not as bad as iracing if you ask me for pricing. iracing makes you pay to use it, makes you pay for cars, and makes you pay for tracks as well. SRW gives you the tracks at no cost except the data usage used to DL it.

Though Bigbazz is right about the importance of user made races. That is what SRW needs most of all.

Some of the things done in SRW are done fairly well while others aren't so good. Take tracks for instance some tracks look good and others seem to have come from the 90s.
I played this game for a few months with mixed opinions, but one track that they used killed the whole game for me. Cant remember the track name, but was on oval. Coming out of the infield onto the oval the fastest laps where done by sliding sideways INTO the outside retaining wall. If you tried to run the track proper you where 2 sec. a lap slower. 5 laps of smacking the same wall and you win? That killed the game for any serious racing in my opinion.
The lack of setting up any racing is also a game killer. Im not sure what made them think they know what or where we would like to race. That alone is probably whats holding this game back the most. Not to mention the pricing is just wacked. Some cars are pennies while others are $30 or more.

. Not to mention the pricing is just wacked. Some cars are pennies while others are $30 or more.

Pricing is based on real world values, a car that is worth $1,000,000 will cost $10 in game, a car worth $100,000 will cost $1 and a car worth $10,000 will cost $0.10 in game.

In other news, they released a new track "Homestead-Miami Speedway

Was driving Homestead in the weekend because of SRW's test weekend for the GT40. A good track, just as much fun as I remember from when I raced it in Ferrari Challenge a few years back.

Also, I had an interesting closing to a race the other day too. You all know how some drivers will pull the handbrake or do something stupid across the line to celebrate victory. I think the car infront of me learned why that's a bad idea. Because he allowed me to do something awesome!

If you can finish in a more amusing way then I will... Just be amused I guess.

Hehe. SImraceway shared the video on their Twitbook page. Wait, not Twitbook, Facebook! But yeah. Now it has plenty of views.

Been playing a lot of SRW the last week, and I really can no longer find any time in the Viper Indianapolis event. I'm currently 8th with a 1:23:897. I was 4th a week ago when I got the time, and I've been trying to beat the time all week. I just keep on getting consistent 1:23:0XX times. :banghead: Might try again later today.

This weekend SRW has the Lexus LFA, and ISF, and the Hot Rod for free test drives, and I must say that I don't like any of the three. The ISF is sort of like a slightly more difficult version of the BMW 1M, and Hot Rod is fun for short periods of time in very straight lines, and the LFA... I must say I'm really not enjoying the LFA. Sort of disappointing, but it feels so nervous and so unsure whenever I drive it. It's understeering, but feels like it's just overshooting in every turn and then in a chicane it can't take the weight transfer and goes into a massive slide. Isn't the LFA meant to be a fast and sticky car? Because the SLS is feeling faster and stickier to me.

The LFA was one of the best cars in the game, I know they have done a bunch of updates to almost all cars and there are a lot of people complaining about the updates leaving cars understeery etc. I haven't driven the LFA since the update but that sounds disapointing, it really was one of the best and most natural to drive cars in the game.

It was very fast and very sticky yeah.

A race I did back in february, after a rammer spins me out in the start I have a pretty nice race driving the car hard eventually taking the lead to win. The car was awesome to drive.

I might be exaggerating slightly, but that is just me explaining what I was feeling from the car. In your video it looked way stickier and far easier to drive.

Update: I drove it again when not in a race, felt a bit better. But still wasn't enjoyable. The ISF is ridiculously slow in the turns, and the LFA feels awkward.

And I also beat my old Viper Indianapolis time. I edited my wheel's rotation (down to 500 degrees from 550) and I started getting consistent 1:23:8XX's. :D Topped out at 1:23:786 which is only .052 of a second off the next placing... Still 8th... :P

A new car! First one in I think a few months as they had been focusing on updating all of the other cars in the sim (some good results, some pretty bad from my point of view, but that's a different story for a different day).

Free to test drive at the moment, cost is $2 or 2000 creditss.

It also came with a new dirt oval track to play with it on, "Ilkaville".

I've not yet had a chance to give it a go, I saw they had released it last night but I was busy with other things.

Simraceway seem to be busy with a lot of things at the moment but also seem to really fail to have any showing in the public eye, I'm fairly sure this release went by with nobody aside from their Facebook followers having so much as a clue. I suppose it is not helped by the hype over Assetto Corsa and its first patch release, along with the release of Xbox One and Forza 5!

With that said a load of things have been going on in the background, they now have multi car track day events where anybody can turn up and jump in a car at the event (a few different track choices)and do some laps with each other, with leaderboards tracked too (not that it really counts for anything, still handy to check over your laptimes and splits).

After having given the car a whirl with a few races I can say that it is awesome fun and a great edition to the game, I just hope they can attract enough people to allow for well populated races. Made a video of my first time in the car, don't expect the best driving!

SRW has its Up's and Down's, lets just leave it at that.

The fact they PAY YOU to race is still something No one else has touched on in the Sim racing world.

FWIW G27 users, there is a extensive Wheel setup located on the SRW forums, WELL worth doing if your not happy with the FFB.

I missed out on this news being busy with Assetto Corsa and GT6 but they have released a new track. Donington Park

Donnington3_StoryTeller.jpg

And a new car : 1981 Team Lotus 88B

LOGO_Lotus88B_1981_FrontThreeQuarter.JPG

I've not had time to give them a whirl yet but Simraceway usually does some pretty quality stuff, too many sims and too little time!

I took the 88 for a spin on the Friday release, It was Decent actually. Donington was also a pleasure to drive on, They had the SRO there last weekend i think.

SRO today IS the 88B.

I was playing around with this earlier today and couldn't get the hang of it. I played with the settings and it was a little better, but it's so much "different" than what I've used with a wheel so far(GT6). Free game, I was only using the Evo and BMW M-something.
This is a kinda complicated question, but suppose that there is a scale of NFS-GT6-iRacing, and with each "-" is a 1-10 scale. Where would this be, in terms of realism?

For example, it's a 2 on the NFS-GT6 scale, or 4 on the GT6-iRacing scale.

The physics and overall realism is there imo. Maybe not Assetto Good, But i really do like how RFengine works on SRW.

IMO the Evo is a Poor example of the physics, Ive personally never "jived" with it, then again i have like 60+ cars, So I Never drive the Evo and the BMW maybe the Odd time here or there. I spend most of my Time in the Zonda and the Bugatti, Oh and the F1 Mp lineup from Mclaren, those are a BLAST, Especially the Mp4-4. Mp-23's kinda fun too.
