Sorry for the noob, question, feel free to tell me to "search harder!"...

Anyone know why "Quick Race" is always greyed-out for me? I've only just started playing this the past few days, so only have the 3 starter cars, and have only done Practice mode. In the "Events" area, there doesn't appear to be any current events featuring the 3 starter cars, so seems I'm stuck in Practice mode...

For events to show up in the game, you have to go to the SimRaceway website and check the boxes for the event difficulties in your profile.

Not sure why Quick Race would be greyed out as it's usually done that for me when I lose connection to the server momentarily. Wouldn't hurt checking your firewall/port settings to make sure they are allowing the SimRaceway ports through.

As for the MP4-25 I really liked it too, had money on my account from a some event winnings so thought I might aswell get it while it's cheap. The thing is definitely a lot faster than the MP4-27.

Enjoying Silverstone too, quite impressed with it and though I found the surface seemed a bit smooth, I'm willing to accept that is possible given the new layout, upgrades of the facilities and the resurfacing of the track it is quite possible that it would have the kinda "Abu Dhabi" smoothness to it.

They did mention that another big name road circuit would be added to the sim within weeks too, but they would not budge in telling me which one it was. Anyway, I had a blast driving the MP4-25 around Silverstone, a welcome and needed addition to the game.

Thanks, man. The support guy on the simraceway.com chat said the same thing (firewall/virus stuff). In 10min of messing with it I still couldn't get it to work, but I'll keep at it. 👍

New car today is the 1961 Morgan Plus 4 Super Sport.

It can be yours for the low, low price of $1.93 or 1930 credits.

Edit: now I'm not sure if it's 1961 or 1965. The image has '65, but the site has '61.

Oooh, that's pretty. Anyone got it?

Tomorrow's TDT will feature the Megane Trophy. Price will be 90 cents, which means I'll finally buy it, because I want this car badly.

I have it, last time I drove it I was shocked at the tiny resemblance it bore to my expectations, not in a good way either, but that was way back. I'll have to give it another go, I'm sure it was either me being an idiot or an unfinished physics model.

I don't have that car yet (the Renault Megane TDT car), I expect a slightly nervous car with a lot of lift off oversteer, plenty of turn in grip and a lot of fun once you've got to grips with and learned to drive it.

I'm more waiting on the new Giza track to come, I believe it will be released on friday. Still haven't tried the new Morgan but will probably get it at some point. If I'm honest I've ended up back to just driving the Sierra Cosworth, having a bit of a love affair with it. I have it setup well with 900 degrees and what feels like a real road car FFB feel (it works in a few cars, in others it has issues, using the G25/27 FFB fix file, which I don't normally use). Rallying that Sierra Cosworth around Longstone (which has seen some graphical improvements, though some of the textures still look like Blehhhhh) has been amazingly fun!

I actually expect the Renault to drive a bit like a Prototype. Tons of grip, but once you lose it, it's hard to catch.

I think the shorter wheelbase combined with the mid mounted engine gives me the impression of a comparison with old Lancia Rally cars aswell as Renaults own Renault 5 Turbo and the Clio V6 car (both MR cars), I know it's a bit more modern and slightly longer wheelbase than both those Renault examples so won't be that exaggerated, but the prototypes are fairly long wheelbase and often quite wide so are more stable as a result. With the shorter wheelbase the car will have a more responsive turn-in and with that engine at the back it will exaggerate that further.

The rest is down to how the engine and gearbox load up under deceleration in combination with the above, but I genuinely think my original expectations will be close, I guess we shall find out tomorrow!

It always looked like a proto when watching the real one drive, because it has massive downforce. It's a silhouette racer after all.

I uploaded a video of the Mclaren MP4-25 at Silverstone, nothing special but thought it was worth putting in the thread.

I personally really enjoyed driving this car and am loving the Silverstone circuit, even if I often moaned about prefering the 2009 layout of the circuit.

👍

Just wanted to fire up the game, to install that precious Renault, "Invalid Game Client". 8(
They really need to get rid of this, it's getting tiresome to download a new build from the website.

Strange, I had to download an update (new patch out today), but I reinstalled the client the other day, just installed it over my old one trying to fix the Morgan 3 wheeler (they refunded me on that and let me keep it) which wouldn't work.

I drove the Renault Megane briefly and it was pretty much exactly how I expected it to be, offthrottle oversteer and some onthrottle oversteer on mid corner-exit, a typical short wheelbase MR feel. After doing a bunch of laps I came to the conclusion that I couldn't drive the thing because I didn't manage a good clean lap, checked the leaderboard and I'm in 5th overall so I guess nobody can get a good clean lap in it!

Not one of my favourite cars but I kinda expected that, due to the price I will probably get it anyway, whether I have the patience to learn to drive it properly is another thing.

I'm getting the same error.

Edit: I turned off User Account Control and it fixed the issue.

You were right, it's confusing me though. If you watch Megane Trophy races in real life, the cars look like glued on the road. Dunno if I should buy it or not. Earning the Credits for it wouldn't take too long anyway.

Now I hope for a TDT with either the F3, or the Formula Renault.

The Formula Renault is (imo, but I like open wheelers) an infinitely more fun and exciting car than the pain in the ass to drive Renault Megane Trophy. When you drive a good lap then it does look glued to the track, but driving a good lap is a pain in the ass due to its characteristics.

There are more exciting and enjoyable to drive cars in the game that I would sooner spend my cash or credits on. That's my view on it anyway! Some people seem to really like it, but I've never liked those kind of cars.

A video of the Renault Megane Trophy, watching this video you could easily be fooled into thinking this car was completely planted, but while driving I was working quite hard to keep this thing clean, though it was one of the faster laps in the event I was probably about 1 second off the pace of what I could do if I could actually drive the thing properly.

Video starts with TV camera perspective and then at around 1:15 switches to the onboard. Only driving aid I had on was the autoclutch.

I like cars which are hard to drive, but I can't stand nervous machines and the car oversteers constantly.

How do you reduce the steering force on a T500RS. I run 1 in ffb but it appear to be the same as 100? Do I really need to run like 1 % in the T500RS control panel?

Might be worth mentioning that in a primitive form the Multicar racing has already been put into the game for testing in the Quick Races. I wouldn't expect fireworks and miracles yet but its a step forward. Currently only GT2 and GT3 classes are being tested and only 2 cars each for now. The BMW M3 and Corvette C6R in the GT2 class and the Mclaren MP4-12c and BMW Z4 in the GT3 class.

I've always suspected that the GT2 class racing was going to be offbalanced as currently the Corvette GT2 car is too fast compared to the BMW M3 GT2 and that is the case. But on the bright side the GT3 class racing is excellently balanced with the Z4 and MP4-12c GT3 cars.

For now you must own all the cars in the class to race, they did mention that this would change in the future, so is only temporary.

I would suggest you set the strength in the T500RS control panel. I have to reduce the strength with my Logitech wheel and do that using the control panel too. You should check the forums for advice on wheel settings.

Oh cool, I own both the 'Vette and M3, but why have they put a GT2 and GT3 in the same class? There's a pile of GT2 cars the 'Vette could be racing... Isn't there? The Ford GT is GT2, I remember that much (I think!)

They are in 2 seperate events, GT2 class racing and GT3 class racing, only 2 cars per class. Like I said it's a primitive form and it's in testing for the time being. Putting GT3 after the M3 was a typo, didn't even realise I did it! Lol.

What do you mean? The M3 is a GT2, just like the Corvette.

Typo.
