But the point of the movie was to show the character of the city itself. The comics are structured the same way, in smaller "vignettes" showing multiple facets of life in Sin City, rather than one central storyline.

I guess you could call Hartigan's story the central one, since it frames the whole movie by introducing us to the city and its character traits, and then being revisited to conclude the movie for us.

oh yea i know what you're saying and it was a really good movie the way it was. I just think it could have done really well with just the story of marv. but then again it wouldnt be a sin city movie. it would be a marv movie that takes place in the comic book world of sin city.

Everyone I know liked Marv's story the best. Mickey Rourke is one of Hollywood's most underrated actors. I suggest you watch some of his older work to see how good he really is!

I first saw him when I was a young boy in Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man. Can't remember if the movie was that great or not, but I love Mickey Rourke!

I saw this movie the day it came out. Huge fan. I just bought two of the books (That yellow Bastard and B,B, and B.) It's obvious the storyboard for the movie was based very closely around the books.

Well, I'm reviving the thread because the DVD comes out next Tuesday! (In the States)

It's one of those rare movies that I'm getting the DVD the day it comes out. 👍

Same here. On Amazon the list price says its 29.99, though they're selling it for 15.98. If the list price is 30 bucks, it might mean it'll be a 2 disc set.

It's a great movie, a masterpiece. I felt it tailed off a bit near the end but the first two stories were great. The style of the movie is brilliant considering it was shot 99% in front of a green screen. Marv's story was my favourite but the Big, Fat Kill was damn good too. 9/10

DVD comes out Tuesday. 👍 I'm picking one up.

I saw it and it had some great cinematography, but that's really it. The acting was alright.

I didn't like how if you hadn't read the comics, you were completely lost in the plot. I know i was. O_o

I never read the comics before and I was fine. I thought each vignette did a great job of telling a story that required tyou to know nothing goin gin. What was confusing to you?

I just think characters should have some small form of backstory.

I wish the entire movie would have been Marv's story. I liked the style of the game, but some of the characters weren't that great or interesting to me. Especially that yellow bugger was too weird for me to even take the movie seriously anymore. 8/10

No..... 8.5 because there were some sexy boobies to be seen.

I bought the DVD today. I don't know if it's their exclusive, but bestbuy has free "Sin City" comic book with the DVD purchase. DVD itself doesn't have much extra features, but does have DTS surround. 👍

I heard a rumor that they are going to release a deluxe version of the DVD with loads of special features. That would kinda suck, seeing as I bought the DVD yesterday. 👍👎

And expect the same for the Kill Bill Vol. I & II. 👎 It's so obvious. Greedy, greedy. :grumpy:

Of course they are going to re-release Sin City. The film was originally 3+ hours & Rodruguez wants to do DC, so its obvious there will be a SE at sum point.
Altho i orderd the region3 version, u get a nicer cover & u get limited gumph with it.

I failed to see this film so many times. Everyt week since it came out i tried to see it and someting stopped me everytime. But finally i got in to my Cineworld with me dad & after an hour, it stopped working. So i still never saw it!
But what i have seen - 7/10

Well, like I said in post 76, the Deluxe edition is out and has been for a couple weeks. I just bought it today, there is 2 discs, 2 commentaries, and hours of bonus features. I'm probably going to sell my original DVD.

Poor kevin & the dog though . . . this movie is a eyeball-pleaser 👍 but i felt that they were aiming at a one off , when they should have played it series - wide .
A bit like Aeon Flux , anyone catch that ? , hope i make cents here .
