I'd also argue that "For sale: baby shoes, never worn" isn't so much a story as it is an advert.

The story is, why were the shoes never worn? Definitely a tragedy.

Man bites dog. Dog contracts rabies.

Dagger eats pie, gets very sick.

I suck at writing stories.

Glass still full, he was dead..

Orphan travels, redefines family, dies happy.

Sense of duty eventually finishes duties.

Man bets savings on horse; loses

This might be quite disturbing but...

Ice slip fall crack head dead

Ebola nurse rides bike town implodes.

Man murders his family, money talks.

And they lived happily ever after.

Rhyming thread, now this; rival appeared!

Does it really have to be explained? It's a joke. The baby shoes were never worn. Therefore, the baby's life is the short story. Get it?

You can't actually make a short story with 6 words. That's the joke!

Baby's crying upstairs. I am childless.

I enter thread, I leave thread.

Here's a six word short story:

"I came, I saw, I conquered."

It's half as short in Latin.

"Girlfriend's pregnancy test positive; I'm sterile."

I stared down Death. He blinked.

Meaning of life found and lost.

Writing super short stories is hard.
