Skid Recovery Force and DS3

I was doing a free run around Suzuka (variable weather) while waiting for people to join my online lobby (but no one did  ). I was using the DB9, and the skid recovery force was set to off and using the DS3 (R2/L2 for accel/brake).

I just couldn't manage to keep the car steady. I haven't had much practice with skid force off as A-spec locks it to on atleast to the level I'm at (13). The problem is I can't maintain a steady acceleration with R2 (or not much control in minute variations) and the car spins out too easily.

Has anyone succeeded in overcoming this? How to do it? I might try mapping accel/brake to the right stick but it's a bit counter-intuitive for me.

I use a wheel now, but for Prologue I used a controller with Pro physics and all aids off except for ABS on 1. I also use R2/L2 for gas and brake. It just takes a while to get the hang of it, but it is possible. You have to be very careful and make small adjustments in the throttle. I've used the controller a couple times on GT5, and in my opinion it's easier than using it on Prologue. It may help if you set traction control at 3 and work your way down to 0.

Possible, infact the only way I race. :p

Usually turn ABS off as well. Requires discipline and good car control - it isn't usually the fastest given you spend a lot of time sideways, but it's certainly the most fun way to do it.

I race with ds3 all the time and the only aid i allow is abs 1.

Try to shift up early if you have a problem controlling lot of torque. This helps alot.

Works in Rally very well too.

Just gotta get used to it, that's all sir. It helps if you never use SFR in the first place, so you never get bad habits.

I didn't realise people struggle so much with the controller... I've always used it since I can't use a wheel with my TV / PS3 arrangement in my room. From the start I always had traction control off (had prologue, struggled for a long time, turned TC off for a laugh and was amazed to find everything FAR easier to drive...) and I have skid recovery off as well. ABS is set to level 1 and I use ASM for tarmac events (made the lotus challenge possible). Thats how I've driven the game from the beginning so thats what I got used to. May try it with the skid recovery on now to see the difference
