We drifters need some sort of non-visual way to guage our skill in drifting....specifically exhibition drifting.
Now, the more you drift around a track, and the higher angles your perform...the longer your lap time generally is.
So this could be a good way to guage skill in exhibition drifting...
Fore example...a grippier drift car [FD3S-RZ] does apricot hill in about 1'25.xxx.
and a Chaser, wich slides all over the place and links all the turns...comes in at 2'10.xxx.

so the higher angle your drift is, the slower you make your turn, and the more you link, the slower you are in between...so technically this should mean that the longer it takes you to go through a course with said HP and without spinning out...the more you actually are drifting, and the higher in average you angles are...

this is the only way i can think of measuring drift skill non-visually.

here are my drift times....[sims]

Apricot Hill - RPS13[278hp] - 2'00.666
Midfield - X540 Chaser[505hp] - 1'39.508
Laguna Seca - S131800[344hp] - 1'58.403

So would you guys agree that this is a good Guage of drift skill or not...test it out for yourselves.

The guage is still pretty broad. Just because you're going slow, doesn't mean you're good. You could be sloppy sliding all over the place and get a nice slow time. But a skilled driver on the same track would get a faster time doing all the things the first driver did because he is more polished. It's not as sloppy, but still faster. So by your Skill Guage, the ****ty driver is better.

ok...maybe this guage should be used by good consistent drifters only....so you must use the guage provided your lap is clean with no screwups....yet drifted as much as possible.....

i had another one i was thinking of putting on....but its probly borderline of acceptancy on this site so i just opted not to have it.....but DAAAYYYUUMMM!!!

for a second I thought it was some Endless Umbrella Girls(FFFFFIIIINNNNEEEEE GIRLS!!!!!). but your avatar is very cool.

post a pic of that avatar you were thinking about.

rock.

I think a good skill guage could be linking the five turns all the way from tunnel-through-tunnel-through another tunnel in Trial Mountan II. So going down the long (downhill then uphill) back straight, starting from the end of that tunnel, start drifting. Then the right to left to right to very sharp left, through the little uphill and down the right hander-tunnel. If you can do that in one perfectly countersteer-ed always drifting, no turn back, never regaining traction drift. You are definately good.
