I really like Škoda's, for the same reason as why I love Panoz and Maserati : They are different and proud of it.

Nope. The 1.2 HTP Inline-3 was developed by Skoda.

Which is better as you can keep the displacement per cylinder at 400-500 cubic centimeters, which is the optimal value for a good torque output and a good specific fuel consumption.

4 cylinder (1 same cylinder added) - 1600 ccm

the specific ccm/cylinder do not change.

But a 1.2 4-Cylinder will have less than 400 ccm per Cylinder. I was talking about count of cylinders at the same displacement. You can't compare a 1.8 to a 1.2 when they have the same specific values (e.g. effective pressure, etc.)
