Can anyone tell me a good gear ratio for every gear for a Nissan skyline GTR V-Spec R-34 with everything maxed out. please because the last time i did my own gearing i ****ted it up and later had to remove the transmission. :nervous:

The auto setup is your friend. Just remember: Sports means better accleration but bad top speed and Wide is good top speed but bad accleration.
 
There is no one good racing transmission setup for any car, since it varies from circuit to circuit.

90% of the time, I just use the auto-slider. Some cars could use a "taller" 2nd gear (to prevent corner exit wheelspin) or a shorter/longer 5th gear just to get the most from the engine on the straights.
 
Here's my R34 gearbox, that i use for most tracks:

1- 3.160
2- 2.150
3- 1.670
4- 1.320
5- 1.044
6- 0.868
Final- 3.545
Auto- 18

Your downforce also affects how the gearbox will perform. With lots of downforce you need shorter ratios, while with low downforce you can use longer ratios. Just adjust the auto or the final ratio, like other posters said, if you find them too short or too wide for the car setup/track you're running.
 
I figured out a gearing setup for my car without messing it up YAY :) here it is it goes from first to second an d so on up to final

highest gear ratio as possible
same as above
preset number 12
preset number 12
preset number 12
lowest possible gear ratio
lowest possible gear ratio



this gearing will let you hit at least 220 MPH on the test track i cant get it to go more because not enough space in the stretches. This offers insane starting acceleration and great top end. But with this gearing you !!HAVE!! to have super soft racing slicks otherwise you wont get traction after starting wheel spin for like 400 meters LOL!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
With FR Skylines, I tend to make 1st gear very tall so starting-line wheelspin isn't too touchy. (Actually, this goes for any FR car over 300 hp). With 4WD cars (like the R34) it doesn't matter so much cause wheelspin isn't a problem. And like other people said, using the auto slider and messing with individual gears will make your racing customized to how you like to drive. But it looks as tho you've already figured all that out :)

Did you also try lowering your downforce? that'll gain you some speed. This is assuming you're driving a [R] modified R34, of course.
 
There's a small but very important detail in some Skylines... which is the fact that they have the maximum power in the mid rpms, instead of having it in the high rpms/redline like most cars. So when shifting up there's no point in pushing each gear to the redline, or you'll be wasting time in low power rpms...
This must be taken into consideration when setting up your gearbox (max torque/power rpms).
 
well i dont have racing mod on it yet but i will because its my speed machine!!! :) :) :) :) :) 👍 its great because around the turns theirs so little downforce that my car bounces and shakes LOL :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: well i like this gearing because i tend to like to powerslide turns instead of slowing down and just taking them so when i get halfay through the slide that huge gear ratio for first and second really kicks in to bring the car around at least it works for me 👍 :) :) its amazing how easily i win the tuned turbo car test track race can you say the HKS drag cars sometimes and 50k per race :cheers: :) :) :) :cheers: :) :) :) :cheers:

If you like Skylines, there's a good amount of them in the game to make you happy :)
 
I agree with MacRoad, GT2 is real easy if you race with a maxed out Skyliner. Hell, I've won that Turbo Cup race @ the test track in cars with half the power of the Drag Car. The thing is: the HKS will blow past you on the straights and there's no stopping it, but it has to SLOOOOW DOWN for the corners, and that's where I bake it...show him who's boss and stuff.

Had to dig this one up. After 2 and a half years, I finally drove an R34 Skyline in the Pacific Regionals. :) :) :) Boy it sure lives up to the hype! :) R U a Skyline luvr 2???? :) :) :) :)

No seriously, I just drove an R34 Skyline GTR a few days ago and couldn't believe how adaptable it is. I never tried an R34 (a million years after everyone else, but hey). They certainly live up to the hype. :) :) :) :) :)

I drove an R32 GT-R in GT1 but I prefer the Nismo 400R, probably cause it's rarer.

The R32 has an average race placing of 1.2 whilst the 400R has 1.1
The R32 got 2nd & 3rd on the 'Normal Car' race whilst the 400R got 2nd & 2nd on the 'Megaspeed' race

Other than that there isn't a lot to choose between them except that the R32 has an option to increase the displacment which the 400R doesn't.

Probably, but when it was first created there may not have been a Tuning & Setup forum for GT2.
