If there is ONE thing I could wish in this game, its that after all of the Cars are bought they can be upgraded / tweak to be around the same performance, that way it encourges more people to tweak, I dont like how Turbos can only go on certain cars and not others.

Hopefully Supercharging and a few other things will create Far more balance in upgradability then before that why Import fans Can Rejoice with Domestic Fans, making it a battle of the better tweaker.

They are an absolute weapon on the track in reality. The best thing about them is that they dont have the traditional understeer of a AWD car as its RWD most of the time untill traction becomes an issue. And its short stroke motor loves to rev.

I love the R32 S-tune in GT3 and the Mines R34 is devistating on super soft slicks.
The only car that I think has bad handeling is that RUF AWD turbo car in the game. I never really got the hang of it as it waws king of understeer.
i dunno about gt4.. but in gt3 its a beast on sim tires too :dopey:

anyone fans of the skyline? i'm getting the impression that everyone wants one. Don't get me wrong, the racing ones and tuners are great, but a basic skyline isn't that awesome. the handling is a little hard and the... well... it's just not that great. any thoughts?

What are you smoking? A stock GT-R V-spec II Nur with S1s on it is one of the best handling AWD cars in the game. Same goes for the stock GT-Rs in GT3. The Nismo and Mines skylines are fairly good to but as soon as you start adding HP to the car it requires a fine balance as far as tuning. More so than other cars.

Skylines I must admit are fast. I'm not gonna lie, they are.

But.. they just aren't for me... big massive cars, heavy, AWD... kinda bleh in the style department.

V35 or R32 for me... R33 and R34 are just... not good looking at all.

Despite being a Toyota fan... when it comes down to the 6 cyl Japanese bad boys... I gotta pick the NSX... beutiful car, brillent design, and more car than computer ;)

I can't say anything about GT4, but I felt the same way about the GT3 Skyline until I really learned how you're supposed to handle a 4WD car. I'm not trying to say you're a bad driver, but maybe the problem is that you're trying to drive it like it's RWD?

Probably so. i shoulda thoughta that :)

See that is the Skyline's charm. The R34 is a big massive brutal beast. I love them all but hands down I prefer the R34 over any other Skyline or almost any other car for that matter. If I want small, light and fast I'll take a 911 (RUF in GT land) thank you very much...

I will admit that the Skyline isn't for everyone. It takes some time to learn to drive correctly and exploit it's chassis and design. Same is true for most any car, but the Skylines take a little extra effort. They do eat up tires fairly fast due to their bulk and in tight twisty circuits they are out of their element (George V, HK). But when (if) you figure it out, nothing exits a corner like a R34....nothing!

A stock (S2s) R34 v-spec II Nur around the Motegi full road course, the Nordschelife or La Sarthe is pure heaven.

Don't even get me started on the Falken GT-R... :)

I do love the NSXs, especially the Type-R...probably the best normal MR car in the GT series, followed closely by the RUF 3400s and Lotus Elise (111r in GT4)

Just a question...

I think my friend is full of himself.

Is it possible for a R34 body to fit over a R33 chasis. I found some info that said the R33 chassis is smaller than the R34 body by a few mm. So wouldn't that mean that the R34 Body would be a bit big for the R33 chassis?

If I'm not mistaken, the R34 is a bit shorter chasis than the 33, and a wee bit wider also (to make the R34 more nimble after the r33's critics criticized it for being less nimble than the 32)

Obviosly I am a Mustang guy. While back in the day, muscle cars used weight an un-goddly amount (the reason for the big engine so it would actually get down the road) they didn't turn the greatest and they did eat gas like it was going out of style. It is not true so much anymore muscle cars are coming back they weight less and have the same or more power with more reasonable fuel ecconomy. Don't get me wrong I love the Skylines, R34 being my favorite, they are alot of fun to drive in GT3 (dont have GT4 yet) but for some reason the Mustangs always appealed to me more, and given the choice of one free car out of a Skyline and a Mustang, Mustang will win everytime. It is really just personal preferance.

Anyway, enough of my pointless ramblings.

IMO Skylines have a nice looking body. And are pretty respectable. Will be good to hop on xlink and do some runs against other skyline users maybe a skyline 25 or 30 lap tourny or something.

Well yeah a USED R32. Wehn the USa Skyline comes out it will be inthe same price range as the cars I mentioned. And a turbo i6 guzzles gas just like a v8 there pal. Heh. And Muscle handles good actualy. The car that does the worst on the skidpad there is the Mustang GT, pulls .89 or .90 depending who you ask. And that's with solid rear axle. And 280 hp for an R34 GT-R V-Spec 2? HAHA! In Japan maby cuz of their conservative rating system there. Dyno one and see that it makes about 290-300 at the wheels, and 325 or so at the crank. In japan car's can't be advertised to have more than 276 hp. Hell we all know a Supra Twin-turbo makes more than that...
Don't get me wrong, skylines are nice cars, but the cost to import is too damn high, especialy for some cars that are 15+ years old.... But when they Skyline comes to the USa it will face very stiff competition. Pluss the Evo and STI are in that same price range! So Skyline is coming into the USA a big underdog. Cuz the 07 for the USA wll be all new. But I wish they would keep it lefty drive. Just for the looks. And the fact that I can drive it cuz my grandfather has an antique Jaguar that is left hand drive.
My dream garage: (cars on the market now only)
2004 SVT Cobra (w Kenne Belle Supercharger, borla straight pipes, hooker headers, and cold air intake unit) 650+ rwhp!
2000 SVT Cobra R (stock, needs no tuning since it beats a Z06 anyday)
2000 Skyline GT-R V-spec 2 R34 (Nismo twin turbo kit)
1993 SVT Cobra (only Cobra with a 5.0!)
2002 Cosworth Focus
1970 Boss 429 Mustang
1969 Shelby GT500 K.R. hardtop
1987 Escort XR4TI
and a
1954 Corvette with a v6 jsut to point and laught and say you can't touch anything else here!
I'm not dissin on the skyline, jsut saying it's gunna have hard ass competition when it comes to the USA. Especialy since Nissan is assholes on pricing. In USA atleast. I would expect the GT-R to cost $34,000, but nissan will ask $37,000 and all the improt retards will be like OMFG IT"S FASTER THEN TEH COBRA! When it's will prolly be faster to 80 mph then the Stang will run right by, just like the STI and EVO. But those a priced very competitively. Nissan will ruin this. It' just sounds to good for nissan not to mess it up. Skyline GT-R in the USA at dealerships! COOL! Decent price! (sound hockey buzzer) nope.... I just don't see this car being under $37,000 in america... and that will kill it.

If anything People will buy it due to the Skyline Name, regardless of how well it sells, it will NEVER outsell A mustang, nor touch the performance of a 2003 Cobra.

No a Skyline will never out sell a Mustang....... In the US, the car was never had the US in mind when they made the Skyline.

So are you saying a stock Nismo Skyline GTR Z tune will never keep up with a stock 2003 Cobra?? In best motoring a stock R34 GTR has no problems what so ever leaving a C5 (maybe Z06) behind and was fairly level with a late model Porsche 911 turbo.

actually, the Z-Tune can smoke the turbo easily, and give Carrera GT and Enzo Ferrari a tough run

0-60MPH on the Z-Tune is only around 3.5s even the new Z06 will be just even match with the Z-Tune

recent reports are saying the lap times around nurburgring of the testing mule of the next GTR under the V35 coupe body are actually even faster then the upcoming 997 Turbo.
and the price is gonna be half of what the Z-Tune sold for. with nearly 90% of the performance the R34 Z-Tune offer

Yes, but doesn't give it any credit stock. The Enzo and Carrera GT are stock. EVEn with that tuned engine, it still itself has a harder time with the 2 than the Europeans haven't trouble with it.

Let's face it. When was the last time Japan made a supercar without tuning?

I noticed some of you are still saying "when the Skyline comes to U.S. in 200*". Skylines are already here, they are sold as Infiniti G35 and when the Skyline GT-R comes to U.S., they probably will drop the "Skyline" name and will call it just "GT-R". This is because Nissan no longer want to base the GT-R on Skyline, and instead is going to make GT-R an separate model.

Now to those of you trying to compare Mustangs to the Skyline GT-Rs, you are comparing apples and oranges(well, almost). GT-Rs are hi-tech sports cars that will cost around $50,000(maybe higher for next gen GT-R?), Nissan is not targeting Mustang buyers with this car.

Personally, I love the new Mustangs. Very affordable, very good looking, I'm sure it's an fully capable sports car. There is nothing wrong with preferring Mustangs over R32s. We all have different ideas and preference about our sports car of choice.

P.S. I'm sorry if this post was confusing. It's getting late + I'm a Nissan Fan, who works for Ford Dealership, trying to defend both Skyline GT-Rs & Mustangs.

I said stock R34 GTR against the Porsche, Z tune vs the 2003 Cobra.

they are/were not imported in Switzerland so I'm dreaming about a car I can't have (except for 3x it's regular price and that was before they stopped making them..now...:/)
I think we all love them because even the Japanese are saying that it's the car with the most engine-performance tuning potential and being a 4x4 "RWD oriented" is..unique.

If you never seen the best motoring International Vol.5 with the real white Mine's skyline GT-R (featured in GT4) I suggest you do it I think that's a veeery good example of why many people love this car I have never seen a car where the rpm of ALL gears go up at the same speed the 1st gear goes hehe that's definitely my dream car...Ultimate response car they called it

umm
the next GTR is still gonna be based on a Skyline. it might not wear the name Skyline in the international level, but they might even keep the name Skyline GTR in japan only. the next GTR will still share the same chassis code with the most current Skyline.

I saw a picture of a R30 somewhere, that exact color, red+black.....I don't know what Shilhouette means (I'm more of a R32 guy than R30, allthough they're all nice cars)

But R30 is definately in 👍

Looking at 359's car list... There's no ER34 Skyline GT-T!?! There's 11 different GTRs that are virtually the same but no GT-T!? that sucks. 👎

And no Skyline GTS25t (ECR33) :(.

well im not too sure about pricing, but i expect it to be a lot higher than 37k, justified with the higher performance. performance target is a 911 turbo. i wouldnt import a used r32 myslef but those with money may do what they wish. but respectively, r32s in japan are quite cheap. imagine the japnese importing a used 96 cobra, haha. the lexus LFA concept from detriot show will probably join the fun in 07 too. i believe its running a v8 based off the JGTC 3UZ-FE in the supras. toyota cant be running the old chassis, and diff engine without using the lessons learned. hopefully, honda slaps itself and revive the nsx project. that HSC concept was damn cool (excpet for the paddle shifters, i like a clutch pedal when i drive). japan automakers are planning on leaving the 276ps agreement too, so expect upwards of 500hp and an electronoic anti-lag system on the GTR (not sure if that will be aftermarket freindly). dont get me wrong, i love the the GTO with the LS2. for 35k and 400hp itll spank the G35/skyline 350gt coupe and will look even hotter with a holden monaro front bumper. the caddy CTS-V is pretty swanky as well, but the next GTR will simply be a diff market. kinda like comparing a 997 Carrera and a GTO, 340hp vs 400hp but its alot nicer. basing your arguments on the out of production r34 GTR specs for '07 competition isnt exactly fair. everyone knows the rb26 is a detuned 400+hp racing engine. the thing barfs up hp with every performance modification. the ZO6 packing the LS7 will prob be a better match up. id imagine a best motoring special in 07, international showdown: Viper, Z06, GTR, LF-A, 997 turbo, ford GT, gallardo, m5, m6, f430, and whatever else they have next.

base model sedans (r31-v35) are quite good looking and the coupes too. even the lean burning v35 sedan they have is awesome. you can have skyline style and be green =P. a r34 25gt turbo is quite a good car at 276ps with the rb25det. lots of potential even with the older n/a rb20s. i dont care too much for the "old-er" school ones. but anythng past r31 is koo in the style dept. i even have pics of design proposals for the r31,32 and 33. just be thankful the r33 looks the way it does, cus the 3 other full size clay models are whack. i mean WHACK, FUGLY, TRASH. i must say the r34 gtr is "refridgerator" pretty (road and track cover story against a diablo vt a few years back). when it comes down to it, the original godzilla r32 GTR gets my vote as the best of the bunch.

My favourite Skyline is easily the R32. the R33 & R34 just don't appeal to me as much. The R34 often looks quite 'plasticky' to me for some reason.

<cough> 56 Skylines in GT4 is too many <cough>

the skyline first off does not compete in the american car market. the new mustang gt is awesome, but in japan and all the area surrounding it the skyline is boss. it is an engineering marvel and a true performance vehicle. for legal reasons the skyline r33-r34s were spec'd at 280 hp for import. out of the factory however the r34 spec v with its rb28dett was making numbers on the dyno closer to 500. combined with 4 wheel steering and an aerodynamically sound exterior, its a difficult force to outperform.

Sorry, Hyde. What I meant to say was that GT-R will no longer be an version of Skyline. GT-R is going to be it's own model, even if it shares an chassis/parts other models(Skyline/350Z for example).

Also, when Nissan unveiled the V35 Skyline, they stated that next GT-R will no longer be an Skyline and I was basing my earlier post on that. Maybe Nissan has changed their mind since then, and decided to still call it Skyline? It would be kind of weird though, because the Skylines and the new GT-Rs should look totally different. I apologize, if my info was outdated.
