I'm looking to buy an R34 and I need to know which is the best. I've got like 9 choices. The "R35" tokyo concept is great, but I need a production model. Ideas?

They are infact different. Though the 400R is great, I'm looking for an R34. All the tuners R34's are a waste. The 6 or so you can choose from at the dealership are all the same in all aspects of numbers. I bought the V Spec II Nur and it's not too bad. I started off buying the V Spec II N1 with the carbon fiber hood and it sucks. Only like high 700hp. The Nur I bought gets about 850 which isn't too bad, but I figured a skyline motor could touch 1000hp easily. But i guess we need limits in a game like this.

The M-Spec Nur is the best. In *real life* the M-Spec improves upon the suspension of the V-Spec II and also features many of the N1 engine upgrades. So that engine is DEAD on precise in every way. When the real life M-Spec Nur Skylines were being produced they sold out on pre-sales.

A BONE STOCK M-Spec Nur in the game with zer0 mods and sport tires can win the Clubman Club. That's pretty damn good for having no mods whatsoever. Pimp the M-Spec model! :)

I dont think the M spec is the best in real life. Its a kind of luxury model. It weighs more than the V-Spec II. This comes from a different interior that includes leather wrapped reclinable seats. The suspension isn't better than the V-Spec II, it has something in the collars of the shocks to make the ride smoother than the other R34 Skyline GT-R's.

You have a couple of things confused, the M spec didnt sell out during pre-sales, the Nür Spec did. The M Spec came out 8 May 2001 as just another model for around ¥ 5,950,000. The Nür Spec came out later in two models, the R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nür and the R34 Skyline GT-R M-Spec Nür. The M-Spec Nür came out January 24th 2002 for ¥6,300,000. The V-Spec II Nür came out February 26th 2002 for ¥6,100,000. Which is interesting because if you knock 2 zero's off the initial prices for those cars you come out with the exact price in the game they are in credits. Being 59,500 cr, 63,000 cr, and 61,000 cr respectively. This is probably where the programmers got their price numbers.

And Super Jamie he was asking about R34's. In which case I would personally say either of the Nür models.

The R34 GT-R (99 and 00) weigh the least of all of them. It is 10kg to 20kg lighter then the V-Spec and the Nur's.

I just bought one two days ago and remember trying to find the lightest one. I believe the HP is the same in the 3 or 4 production models you can buy.

I like the M-spec Nur the best, i first bought it because it was the high-end edition of the R34 but it really is great performance-wise, if you check the topic titled, 'my killer R33 setup', use those settings on the m-spec nur...

The N1 is quite good fully tuned though it understeers when the throttle is depressed. It usually trims itself back in line when you let go.

I did get the Carbon R, it is quite untameabel, I tried Nurburgring and found myself on the grass more than snoop dogg. I'm thinking of trying the Nismo tuned version. The red one?

I have the Carbon Skyline and I dont see how you guys think its untameable. I can drive the car almost flawless. I have it set up for maximum grip though. Might be why? Ill post my settings some time

Best bet would be the V-spec II Nur '02... Max it out ( put in the racing suspension instead of the original) and add the Original tubo at Tuner Village and an oil change it will go up to 911 HP... tune it properly and it can go about 235+mph... i got them in all the different colors!!! \m/

Vspec II Nür and Mspec Nür are great.

The best skyline is the Mines though, i think its the fastest non race skyline.

to a few of you that said skylines get a lot of understeer try the following settings. these are what i've got on my 400r and i can get it to drift

sring rate 13.8 11.8
ride height 85 85
damper ---- ----
damper bounce 8 8
damper rebound 8 8
camber angle 2.0 1.0
toe angle 0 0
stabilisers 6 6

Like somebody said before, you gotta look at the weight. Ive only got a few Skylines on GT4, but I was big into it on the other games. What Ive found (in the other games at least) is that for the most part they all have the same starting horsepower. Look for the one with the least weight and go for it. Most of the time you can find these cars in the used car lot. I think the third gen. Skyline has the least (R34 Vspec-II maybe?). But on the other hand, if they start out with diff. horsepower, then possibly they have diff. engines or diff. engine setups. At some point Ill get all the skylines, tune them with stock settings, and run: quartermile time, 2 laps of nurburing, and max. speed. I hope this will put an end to all the choices that are available in GT4.

A few people said they had a problem with understeer. If you adjust the rear toe I think this will solve this problem. Setting the toe out a few notches in the rear will help with cornering, but reduces acceleration and the stability of braking (for ex. going into turns).
