I am staying awake when i should be napping.

Same here. What I do to sleep is listen to music. Not loud music, but Reggeaton, Jazz, whatever is calm. Or, read a book. The latter doesn't work all too well for me.

My problem with that is I end up listening to the music and it keeps me up longer.

I also went to sleep last night and it seemed as though i wasn't tired.Saying that i had a dvd on so was keeping me awake.I went to sleep at roughly 9:40pm which is early for me, but you only go to sleep when you are tired.

Yes, that does back fire on me too.

Wha-? Do you play any sports? That's what I would do sometimes. I would tire myself so much that I would crash on my bed when it was late at night.

I don't play any sports game no.But will try that mate.

Plus, you stay in shape while having a controlled sleeping schedule. However, this plan dies off for me when Uni starts.

I too have a similar 'problem'.

I don't know if it's excitement or anxiety that's keeping me awake. But you can sleep when you're dead, right?

I had a friend once told me to do some exercise if you can't sleep. Exercise before bed, weird huh? Try that.

Nathan.

If you don't already work out, start a work out routine. It will put your sleep schedule back into shape. Also, force yourself awake at earlier times with alarms. I'm trying to get mine back together for school.

I will try my local gym. Thanks will try with the alarm aswell. Also i am not waking up too early e.g. only get 5 hrs of sleep.

What seems to work for me:

Environment: Music does not help. Silence & total darkness(no LED lights from electronics, etc.).

Diet: Stop caffeine, sugar intake by early afternoon.

I still rely on minor dose of sleeping pills during the week. :p

Over-sleeping can be just as bad as under-sleeping. Both aren't healthy for you.

Waking up early doesn't mean you have to miss out on sleep. Go to bed earlier at night = get up earlier the next day. You might find you're having problems getting to sleep a different times because you go to sleep and wake up at different times each day during the week. A sleeping pattern is good as it stops your body confusing itself, making it more tired.

Napping during the day doesn't help, either. You should avoid naps.

I will only go to sleep when i am tired & not before after doing some exercise.Hopefully doing that so i do get a good nights sleep.Leaving everything off & the blinds closed at night.

Also try turning off ALL screens (phones, TV's, etc.) half and hour to an hour before you hit the bed. Something with the lights/radiation keeps us up, stimulation I guess.

Also, keep your bed ONLY for sleeping! This was my biggest problem, I always read or did things on my phone before falling asleep and my body eventually got use to "chilling" in bed rather than sleep. It was hard to break out of but helped me out tons.

Another trick is to walk around, when you find yourself tossing and turning. Don't try to force yourself to sleep, do something else (non-stimulating) then try again.

If all else fails, try drinking some warm milk. Knocks my daughter out EVERYTIME :).

Sorry folks this is completely wrong.I am not doing enough exercise during the day and oversleeping during the night.I went to bed too early between 10:30pm & 11:00pm & woke up at 1:45am and kept drifting off & waking up until i got up at 4:20am.I have stayed up since then & don't know what to do.My body clock isn't caibrated to go to bed & waking up.

Questions.

Do you snore?

What time do you exersise during the day

Do you use an alarm clock?

I'll explain to you why I'm asking these questions

(Do you snore?) I'm asking this because you may have a form of sleep apnea. Although snoring is a factor of it, if you're overweight or not exercising then that may be a major part of it. Getting a sleep study is recommended, I got one and while I wasn't really able to sleep during it due to pains in my back, I was able to get some really helpful information. That is some of it.

(What time do you exercise during the day?) I'm asking this because of the fact of not having a exercise schedule may be a problem. If you set one up, it'll keep your body awake during some times of the day, that being the time you exercise. While you don't need a-lot of energy to exercise (in fact it's good to exercise to get energy levels up.) you should have a time of the day where you get tired the most (not night time obviously) so you can get your energy up and then after you get done taking care of daily tasks, that energy will be gone. I go on bike rides when I'm tired, and my time where I'm tired is usually around 1PM or 3PM. I go for a quick ride so that I can get my energy up to do what I have to do for the evening and come night that energy will be used well.

(Do you use an alarm clock?) Well, whenever I start heading back to school, I use an alarm clock on either my phone or desk to force myself awake. Doing this and scheduling exercise will balance your sleeping schedule. The hardest thing is actually keeping it.

I hope this helps. Somethings in this post are just a few things I do to keep myself going.

I snored before yes you are right.I exercised for about a month, but that was only walking strolling every morning on holiday in Croatia in the last 9 weeks.I have used an alarm clock sometimes yes.I did have these symptoms of forgetting to breathe during the night & but that was 18 months ago.

Ignore post.

Please respond.
