In another OLR League that I participate in, we had this challenge. A slightly modified SLK that I originally ran in my compendium Game.

For those of you who don't know, I've been taking notes on my GT3 progress from 0% to 100%. It's all detailed here, up to the most recent point. As it stands today, I'm in the 7th race of the PD cup in a Lancer Evo VI. Only the PD cup and the Formula one to go for 100%.

Anyways, the SLK challenge...

In the Amateur series, I was able to post 2 second wins over the AI with these modifications: Full racing suspension, Sport Brakes, Racing Muffler, port polish, Chip, Full racing Tranny, Full LSD, Medium Slicks, Lightweight 1&2 and the obligatory oil change and waxing.

To give a bit of an idea, one of the people that we will be racing against (from GTN), has run this car against me, and he's managed a 1'33.633. Considering my mark as 1'34.510, I'd be interested to see if I can find that missing second. Split times were 18.095; 40.431; 1'12.292.

Settings that I used to hit that time were:
Spring rate: 9.0/7.5
Ride height: 92/92
Shock bound: 6/6
Shock rebound: 7/8
Camber angle: 2.0/1.0
Toe angle: 1.0/1.0
Stabilizers: 5/5
LSD: 30/60/60
Gears: level 25
Final:4.200
ASM = 0; TCS = 0

Have at it Ladies and Gents. I've got the PD cup to wrap up this Saturday morning, and will throw a few more hours at this again this weekend.

I'll defineately have a crack at this one..I love Trial Mountain and the SLK should be sweet around here. :D
 
Hey Alex, is this being run in free mode or something else?

Oh, and what's the HP rating on that car with all the mods? Just want to double check to see if I missed anything or not.
 
Managed to get in a few miles around the mountain tonight..early days but my best lap so far is a 1:33.777. This car looks to have 32's in it, just have to work it down when I get the chance. Hey Der Alta, can you check out the parts I've fitted with the replay checker to make sure I've got only the right stuff fitted to the SLK?

Boom: this race is in deed in Free Run. Just looking for a fast lap with a not so well equipped car. This was an identical car to what I used in the Amateur Silver Arrow race. This car starts with 238 hp with the noted trimmings, and I ran my best lap after the break-in period at 244hp.

Prancing horse: good to see that you had a go at it, and I'm not surprised that you bested my score easily. I've still got loads of GT3 education to go. While I'd love to be able to load up your replay and have a go at it, I'm stuck on NTSC.

I will hunt around and see if I have my replay saved somewhere. If not, I'll have a go shortly, and upload it for some pointers.

To give out the competition, the GTN competitor is Sukerkin. I'm almost certain that a few of you have raced against him. In another OLR league, I seem to follow him around the track by only a second or two.

In all the laps that I ran, the car's most noteable give away was tire squeal. Any tire squeal almost assured you of dropping speed and time. It seemed in the tunnel, to achieve the best lap, the car was a mere paint thickness away from the wall. I would hit full left lock a split second before entering the second tunnel, and hold it until I hit a straight line in the third tunnel.

I ran some laps already and I'm getting close to the 1'32.xxx barrier. Currently I'm sitting on 1'33.299.

No, i will try to setup the car myself first, and then i can compare my settings with the settings of our very own team owner and engineer: BoomBoomBidwell;)
 
Hiya All,

How many of us here are familiar with MK's Garage Editing and Replay checking Program? I use it all the time, bloody magnificent tool. For those who aren't familiar with it, it allows you to check a replay file (X-port OR Sharkport) and lists all parts used on your car as well as all of your settings used...which makes it very easy to find out settings used by anyone who posts a replay in a race thread. This is how the GTN policed the Drafting series. The programs main function is to modify your garage... add cars, change cars, make Hybrids (if thats your thing) etc. I use it more for the replay checking side of things because I can see what settings you NTSC guys use (as I can't watch your replays either, as you would know!). I've had the MK program at one time, but have since lost it. I still don't have a good working knowledge of it though. Could you help us out with that? It's a great tool! That way I'll be able to find out if Mr. Holland is cheating! :D J/K Mischa!

Hey Boom....The latest version is V3 (about a week old now) and is what you can download from the link above. The best part about version 3 is it finally has Help files (earlier versions didn't :() which also tells you how to use it. But feel free to ask any questions about how to use it and I will try to help when I can :D

Hey Boom, did you realise that you are running T4's instead of T5's? might find a little more grip with the Mediums Der Alta has allowed. Makes that 1:32.xxx even more impressive! ;)
 
Huh, I must have read it wrong then. It says medium slicks in the initial post doesn't it?

Hmmm, guess I'll have another go at it then with the T5's. 😈

Boom is right, it is medium slicks. Not mediums. So T4's are the rule.

I haven't had a chance to get back to this, but at least now I have Boom's replay to attack. I'm simply amazed that you're in the 1'32 range. :drool: :shellshocked: once again, I'm nearly two seconds slower than Boom. I'm surprised that I'm only a second off Prancing Horse, and MIH and Lotus have yet to run...

Looks like I've got my work cut out for me this weekend.

I've downloaded MK's program and will give it a whirl tonight.

So T4's were the choice. DAMN! :mad: :D Was hoping to slap on some T5's and have another go at it.

Run up a few k's got a time of 1'33.995 but it was on T5's :thatsodd:
Ok, so I'll put the T4's on, and get this hp up to peak tonight 😈

Sorry. I've been too busy with my school exams this week to play GT3. I will start tomorrow.
 
New time, this time on T4's ;) 1'33.880 won't bother with replay until I am satisfied with my time 😈

New time of 1:33.292 on T4 compound tyres this time around. That bloody 1:32.xxx time is being quite elusive for me at the moment :rolleyes: Can't believe just how much T4 and T5 compounds differ in road holding around the faster corners...took me a while to adjust ;) Anyways, here's the replay to go with it. Sectors were 17.733, 39.371 and 1:11.013.
