i just found out first hand how slow cop cars are. the crown vics. i was come'n home from a friend's house and there is one "back road" i take. so when i truned on that back road i cut loss a little. only rapped my kia to about 4500-5000 rpm in each gear. but when i turned in my neighborhood i slowed to about 30mph. then i saw the berries and cherries. so i pulled over. the cop thought i hit aleast 100mph:rolleyes: it was really about 60-75mph. but he couldn't radar me. he said i lost him but he came over a hill just in time to see me make the turn. he patted me down and searched my car. gave me a little **** about a pack of blacks he found. nothin big. i got basic speed, careless driving, and m.i.p. i didn't get to talk with the cop that pulled me over to much because he was searching my car. if i could of had a chance to lay down my story about how im young(17), made some bad choices, and am still learning i might of been able to talk my way out of it. oh well:(

Last months issue of Sport Compact Car had a good write up on police car perfomance. 0-60 times and a few other tests in there as well. Also a bunch of other factoids to get out of tickets.

You must have missed that issue.

I got that one.
See the pic of the intrepid braking so hard the back 2 wheels came right off the road.:D

Cool article.. check it out.

Yeah, it was a rather informative article. I really had no idea that cop cars were that slow. I was under the impression that they all had special work done to them.

I still don't want to mess with the SS Camaro though.

But, no matter how slow the car, you can't beat a radio.

Where do you live that have these cop cars? I don't know about there, but here the cars are modded (Impalas mostly). As for the ticket; if you speed, you should expect a ticket. Oh well, maybe you learned a lesson.

that was a bump and heavy braking together that did that. i seen the article. but look at my car:eek: its faster then a cop in a short run (under 100mph) and i wasn't even pushing it.

if you think thats cool you should hear the dumbass idea i had when i got home. i thought if i only had a faster car i could have blew the cop away:banghead: learning to slow down seems real hard for me. ****ing a.d.d.

You're willingly breaking the speed limit even though you know you have a disorder that interrupts your ability to concentrate on the task at hand?

You should have your license taken away.

Isn't everyone and everything diagnosed with ADD these days? You need to learn to take responsibility for your own stupid actions.

Forget it guys, don't give him good advice just let him kill himself and rid us of his stupidity.

Yeah, but what if he takes someone else out?

Yeah, ...or damages a wall - or worse, a pole? Do you know what those things cost?!

I know, god help those poles.

Uhh, poles, not polish people.

So Giles, are you just warning him to save other people?

...

Good call! 👍

i heard one or 2 countries have TVR's. saudi arabia, the United Arab Emerates as well as most major arab countries have almost exclusively new Mercedes C class sport sedans with honda goldwing motorcycles and mercedes suv's for backup.

locally though, i thought all the impala police cruisers were supercharged. am i right there? how else does an impala cruiser cost 50000+ apiece? the radio/tracking/computer equipment on them isn't THAT special

I'm just wondering "if you got a ticket" how much over the limit was it ? And if he couldn't radar you he cant give you a ticket for speeding just a warning ,because it would be speculation on your speed. My cousin is a county cop he told me this before ,so i would just go to court and fight that ticket if in fact you got one

It really pisses me off when people try to blame their problems on a.d.d. You act like every one of your downfalls can be blamed on your disorder...it can't. I was diagnosed with a.d.d. when I was 5 years old, and over the years I have gotten past it. I know that I have absolutely no problem driving safely and responsibly...sure, it might be harder for you to concentrate on driving slowlyy than it is for most people, but it is by no means impossible and you have no excuse to blame your stupid driving habits on your a.d.d. I hate to break it to you, but a.d.d. isn't the reason you can't drive slow, your own ignorance, irresponsibility, and stupidity are the reason for that. Your disorder isn't keeping you from becoming a functional member of society, so don't try to blame it on that. Next time you do something stupid, don't blame it on your a.d.d, that just makes it worse for those of us with the disease who care not to be placed into the stereotype you're creating.

Well back to the cop car subject. With that SCC article about the cop cars and testing them, I know first hand they are probably only the main backbone of any department. There is however going to be other types of cars running around as cop cars too. I know first hand that Orange county here in Florida has 4 VWs running around that are cops. The First is a GTI, the Second is a Passat and the last two are Jetta Wolfsburg editions. The car I would bbe most worried about here is that GTI.
I was surprised this year with the performance outcome of the vehicles. The Crown Vic does have the 4.6 Liter Mustang engine in it. I always thought that it was a little faster then it actually is. To think of all the speeding tickets I could have avoided if I knew how fast they truly were  . Or shall I say get out of

no, then u'd have a high speed pursuit where the only vehicle the police dept has to keep up with u is the helicopter and taking cars fom other depts to block u off. then u'd be arrested for resisting arrest......makes u wonder how they did it in Getaway in Stockholm

You should make that more clear in your post instead of sounding like flaming someone, why don't you start off by saying, "Well in Getaway in Stockholm. . . "
