I can't enjoy the game anymore.

Every screen takes +5 mins to load. I double checked I had installed the game. I have enough free space but the box in options doesn't tick/check off to say that it is installed. Is this normal? I did the install again yesterday? Still takes ages to load!

I can't understand why people are still playing the game or is it just my console with the problem? Could someone tell me if the box in options is supposed to tick if installed?

I had no worries/bugs/glitches or long loading times before v1.11 and 1.12. All it has done is slowed the game down. What is so different to everyone elses consoles?

loading times are much better now. i dont how you can get 5+minutes loading. your ps3 might be on its way out. may be bluray or hard drive issue.

Cool, it is old. But only ever used it for Prologue and Blu-rays before GT5 came out. I hope it isn't the machine as I wouldn't buy another one. The 5 year wait for the game wasn't worth it. Especially now since the update it feels like a 5 year wait every time it loads. Could pick up a blu-ray player for £30 nowadays!

Could you tell me whether or not the box for "install data" is supposed to be checked/ticked/high-lighted? Mine shows that it isn't even after 50 mins of installing. Thanks in advance.

The first time you see a particular car/paint it'll take longer to load. If you go into a game with the same cars as last time, it'll load fast. If it's stuff you haven't seen before, it'll load slow. Pre-install doesn't really matter. It'll speed things up a little bit, but not much.

My PS3 is +2 years old and I never swapped HDDs, and it still sustained its loading times. But I did noticed one loading screen that took over a minute to complete.

My ps3 is 4-5 years old. That's probably the problem then. Cheers for the help dudes.

A device's age doesn't always necessarily determine the service life of it, if that makes sense. Usage frequency also is a factor to device failures.

In the systems menu:
-rebuild hardrive
-rebuild database

Do those two and it should run alot faster, I do this every update

The age doesn't matter. GT5 takes a long time to load. My PS3 is 4 years old and have swapped the HDD as well. Its the game. Its funny I start my game and flip it back to TV and press the X button a few minutes in (while I'm still watching TV) to get past the stupid error for the date and time settings then I will flip it back while putting the TV on pause. It is a rinse and repeat every time I start the game.

One thing GT5 does extremely well is take forever to load. I still love it though.

Should I buy a new disc? Nothing is working. Wiped the HDD, rebuilt it, cleared the cache. It sped up a little just before I pre-installed data then it went back to being slow again.

Stupid effing update has ruined the only game I play. Severely miffed off.

Did you try any other games?

for me offline speed seems to be related on the number of items (gears, cars, museum cards, ...) you have collected. A new second account runs a lot quicker than my main gaming account.

Here is some GT5(ver 1.03) loading times with and without SSD disk installed:

Crucial clearly isn't messing about, and its highly aggressive pricing policy and updated firmware make it hard to argue with the Crucial M4 256GB, which should now be at the top of your SSD shopping list, regardless of whether your priorities are pricing or performance.

And never never never forget to REBUILD DATABASE on a monthly basis: !!!

Right I've figured it out. If anyone is still stuck this might help.

I wiped the HDD then re-built it.
Deleted the installed data.
Quit game, signed out, took out the game.
Re-inserted and followed the prompt to install. Still signed out.

It's cut the waiting times by half, still very long but playable again.

Must be to do with the network. I didn't realise it would effect loading the screens but it does.

Thanks for adivce on Rebuild Database. I have never done before, and I have noticed more freezing lately with other games. So hopefully this will help.

I can't take this anymore. I started the game at 9:30 am this morning to try the new seasonals and I've only just finished, well, I'm waiting to come out of the last drift trial. It's been 15 minutes since I won the gold trophy.

It hasn't taken me 4h15m to get the golds, as soon as the TT's loaded I got gold on each first time. It's just the loading times. Some times 30 mins between screens.

Is it just my region? I'm in the north west of England. I've tried everything but a new console, but I can't imagine it is the PS3 as all other games work perfectly well online.

Edit: Ok, it has loaded now but now I have to wait 10 mins to get back to the home screen. I'm glad they're done now, I can sign out of PSN and the game becomes playable again. And sod the OCD it's not worth the wait!

When my internet connection is bad (wireless with multiple people using it) it takes more time to load, but not as long what you're dealing with. With those times i would expect a time-out related error or something. Soon as i sign out the loading times are as it should be. I don't know whats causing your problems.
