Virgin Media

Very slow on occasion for me, sometimes normal and other times not so.

Don't think it's a GTPlanet problem, other traceroutes to servers in the US are very slow too so a VM problem I guess.

Very similar results for me, it seems we're in the same place shepzki.

I'm on Virgin Media too, but it's also been slow running off my mobile network (3) I'll do the tests and post results tomorrow. It definitely appears to be a UK thing!

I had the same problem (On Virgin Media) but it seems to have been sorted for me. 👍

It seems to be just every now and again it goes very slow for 30 minutes or so. Right now it's happening, the CSS file isn't even loading.

I'm not on Virgin Media, but I had problems with the stylesheet, yesterday, too, on both my home - and a public WiFi. I'm not sure if it's a server problem, as it loaded up (1 or 2 times out of at least 5) after I cleared my cache.

Edit: Right now, I have a few problems with icons and avatars not loading.

So yeah, that was actually about an hour of very slow loading/no CSS. Now it's back to full speed. Very odd.

Interesting. I haven't had any loading problems here since last night. Last time this problem occurred it lasted nearly a week.

I just had slowness and icons not loading, again, up to a few minutes ago.

It works perfect now, though. It's indeed very odd.

Edit: The CSS has gone again, and loading times are now 30 seconds+, if the pages load. — And now the CSS's fine again, but the icons aren't.

I'm sorry, I see I mentioned cdn.gtpla.net earlier, but I forgot I'm no longer using that address for the CDN servers. :ouch:

Could you all run a traceroute to www.gtpla.net instead? At the very least, perhaps we can identify a common CDN distribution point which I can ask the hosting company to look into. I suspect that is the source of the problem, as the site's primary web and database servers are still running fine.

It's running slow for me as well so I was going to do a traceroute but the link you gave me is giving me this:

Just type this into CMD prompt:

tracert www.gtpla.net > c:\gtp.txt to output the results in a text file.

That's obviously normal right now, i'll run it again when things go slow.

Hella slow up in here. But China + monsoon + in bedroom = poor loading times.

Does seem unusually slow and I've nothing else running.

Neither the avatars, forum icons nor the post message box has loaded further than basic text.

Edit: seems better now but I also had a problem loading on the Droid app this evening in another location, but still, could be Chinese ISPs.

Thanks for the traceroute results, guys. I see you're all connecting to the content edge server in Amsterdam, which is likely where the problem is. I have refreshed all of the CDN servers now, so we'll see if it makes a difference. Let me know if you continue having problems today.

Site appears to be much better now, had no slowdown last night and none today so hopefully all is well. 👍

I had some problems with icons (again) between 8 and 9 GMT. But it's apparently been solved, as it's gone, now.

Thanks for the updates, that's good to hear. Things will likely get a bit shaky again today, but for another reason, due to the E3 press conference and a very high load of visitors.

It was super slow again about two hours ago but I doubt it was because of the traffic, it's still about the same now (2000 users) and fast as usual.

Sorry to double post but just wanted to let you know I've experienced no issues in the last six days so whatever the issue was it seems to be ok now.

That's a relief; thanks for the update, Samus. 👍

It's all been fine my end recently, too. Thanks for keeping us updated, Jordan. 👍
