Track limit PSA.

(this is a copy/paste from an earlier series. This event happened again last night during Porsche practice.)

Maybe this is known by everyone already. There is a ghost barrier present at pit exit approaching T1 as illustrated in pictures below. Separately, also be aware that cars right next to each other entering T1 may experience incidental contact as cars are moving from the oval-straight onto the apron. I experienced this a couple times against another driver. This may disrupt your braking/line. ymmv

Notice airborne debris in front of my car. This appears to be associated with the orange square flush with track surface. In my case I was bounced out of line and into @Noob01_lmdead on my right. During the same race @socalnatv made ‘contact’ as you can see in speed change and also change of line (look at orientation of dark line in front of his car).

My takeaway: keep left tires on the right side of the white line as you go into T1.

Series Confirmation Format Change Announcement

For ALL Drivers signed to the roster for this series, please be sure to read and review the amended confirmation and grid priority format that we will use for this season. We have 26 drivers signed to the series for this season with extras expected to come onboard as the season moves forward. With only 16 grid spots available, the potential to turn away a large number of drivers for an event is very probable. This new format gives all those available an oppurtunity to earn final spots on the grid. Please see below for details.

For the first event of this series, the top 12 drivers to confirm attending are guarunteed their grid spots for Event #1. Every event thereafter, the top 12 drivers in overall standing points will be afforded grid priority and first right of refusal for the next event. They simply need to confirm at any point up to 8pm est on the Thursday before our Friday race night to claim their grid priority. Drivers in the top 12 in standings that cannot make an event and confirm absent will forfiet their grid spot(s) to the additional confirmed drivers in the order in which they confirmed.

For the final four grid spots:
-If we have only 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those four drivers will simply procede to the race room at 9pm est to fill out the grid and the race night will proceed as normal.

-If we have more than 4 drivers confirmed/available by 8pm est on the Friday race night, those drivers will be required to run a formal Pre-Qualification session to establish the final 4 spots and remaining reserve priority for that night's event. (If confirmed drivers in this group choose to rescind their confirmation rather than attempt to qualify for the final 4 spots, and only 4 drivers remain, those 4 remaining drivers can procede to the race room at 9pm est as no run-off is then necessary).

If the Pre-Qualification is Necessary:
-@Noob01_lmdead / PSN ID: RJC76 will be our dedicated Pre-Qualifying room host with @Bologna_Duc / PSN ID: DucatiRobb as our back-up host for this session. Lobby settings will be set to the same as the main race lobby, except for the change to 10 minutes for the Pre-qualifying session. Be sure to have both of them on your PSN friends list to have access to their room. They will not be on track during this session (unless they are outside the top 12 in standings and are part of the run-off group)
-Pre-Qualification Lobby will be openened at 8:30pm est on our scheduled race night. All confirmed Drivers (or last minute available drivers) will have 10 minutes to enter the room and forward their spec sheets to my PSN ID or to the series PSN group chat.
-Pre Qualifying will start promptly at 8:40pm est for a 10 minute qualifying session. (Again, if only 4 drivers are present at 8:40pm est, this session can be cancelled and those 4 drivers can procede to the main race room at 9pm est)
-The host will collect a screenshot of the qualifying results to be sent to the series group chat, and the top 4 (or more if needed to cover for very late last minute drops) will be directed to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-This Pre-Qualification room will then be closed, and all drivers that made the grid are to procede to the main race room when it opens at 9pm est.
-The main race lobby/room will then procede in it's current format of 15 min warmup/sending specs, 15 min Race 1 qualifying session, and then the 30 min race 1. Drivers that race the pre-qualification are expected to send their spec sheet again once the main race room is entered.

The first post has been updated with this new ruleset in tab 2.3. Any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Sounds to me like we should have two or more lobbies so everyone can participate. Otherwise, we may end up with some upset drivers who will be less likely to participate the next time a series like this is proposed.

Speaking for myself, I know that I'm not the fastest driver, but I have been putting a lot of time and effort to get ready for this series and it would suck to not be able to race.

Let me add, it's obvious Nova, that you have put a lot of time and effort into organizing this series, and I appreciate all of your hard work. You've done an excellent job.

If we don't have an official second lobby, and there is interest in a running an unofficial second lobby...im at the bottom of the list and will run one to spec and post results including finishing time and fast laps.

I appreciate the feedback, but these series have maintained an exclusivity due to them being restricted to one full grid. Its always been this way for the last 5 years and has created a very loyal following. Some come and go, but the base has shown to be very loyal and committe to the competitive raving it has offered. The only way these series would go to two lobbies is if we were to get around 40 drivers....enough to fill two lobbies with two-three reserves for each.
Up to this point, we simply guaranteed grid spots to the first 16 drivers to confirm for race night and then the extras confirmed were reserves in the order they confirmed. Either way, we are left having to turn some drivers away. Most times, 2-3 drivers back out or rescind their confirmation which has freed up those spots to the reserves last minute. The problem, is the reserves have typically been less prepared given the uncertainty of them being afforded a spot.

With the series being parity based, we all should be close in time regardless of skillset. Tracks like Daytona may favor the drivers with the higher hp and concessions where the more technical tracks may favor the more skilled and handicapped drivers. The idea for this is to afford some priority to those who are in the points race, and then give everyone else who confirmed a fair opportunity to catch one of the final 4 grid spots rather than just relying on someone who confirmed earlier to drop out. Assuming all 16 drivers that confim early are present, the rest would not get on the grid anyway. Lastly, this is not a participation based series, but a tightly contested competition series. How much you put into it is how much you will get out of it. This series is not about being the fastest on the grid or winning every event. The key is staying away from trouble, consistent lapping, and the ability to set racing moves or defend strategically. In our last series, I did not win one event the entire season, but placed 2nd overall on the seqson in points. And, the series had 5 different event winners across 7 events. With practice, lap times are close across all skillsets. Success in each event is based on lap consistency and racing prowess. The top 12 in standings deserve a small bit of priority, and the competition to earn those final 4 spots will only add to the in race competition for each event. I hate having to turn away drivers for any event, but the success of these series and the draw in interest has created a huge roster of drivers that has now put us in this position. Hence why I prefer to stick with the exclusivity of limiting it to one official race lobby for the series.
Now, for @Oshawa-Joe and his post:
Just because you are near last on the roster does not mean you are last on priority. If you want to race an upcoming race night, be sure to formally confirm with a post in the thread now or up to Thursday at 8pm est prior to a race night. If you are one of the 4 drivers to round out the 16 and no more drivers are confirmed, you would be on the grid. Anymore confirmed for the final four spots would initiate tbe run-off pre-qualification session. You could be the last to confirm, but could still potentially earn your spot on the grid.
With that said, for those that do not make it into the official race event lobby, you all are more than welcome to run an un-official race lobby. Whoever choses to host the secondary lobby, please capture the qualifying results, race 1 finishing results, and race 2 finishing results. Forward these to me, and I will score them separately and maintain a secondary standing sheet. I hope that is a compromise for those that might not make it to the official lobby, but I encourage everyone to practice and squeeze every last tenth possible out of yourself and the car. You may suprise yourself and find yourself on the main grid more than you think.

I can't seem to find the confirmed grid/priority/conformed list. But I'm usually lost (and often last) regardless.

I usually include this in our next event details post which has not come out yet. I should have up officially tomorrow. But for now, here is our confirmed count.

wish I had known this prior to putting in many many many hours of practice to get my speeds up - as ffar down the list as I am it appears as if my efforts were a complete waste of time and would have been better served practicing for league night /

had no idea i was so far down the list until today

confirming for a non spot I guess

Hey @The_Antman_ and @TexHill, maybe we can set up a separate unofficial race lobby for the events we're not in the main race? Kind of like a Div 2 lobby.

I still need a lot more practice for Snail Sundays but it's been really fun practicing and getting faster with the Porsche as well.

could start with 2 lobbies and the top 8 from each lobby go to the final race in a final lobby -

i vote for this fomat 😂

It won’t matter if you’re number 13 or 28 on the list. Get in the pre race qually room and put those many many many hours of practice to work and grab one of those 4 spots that are available. That’s kinda the point of this new option. It gives the people who did put in the practice, time to get their pace up and take the opportunity to race your way in. Do that, get yourself in the top 12 in points and stay there so you don’t need to race your way in again.

In the past seasons, it came down to whoever posted in the thread first. Not guaranteeing that the ones who put in the time to practice, a spot on the grid.

how did I go from 18 to 21st?
First off, you are not 21st or 18th. Until you just confirmed, you were not considered to be attending. You are confirmed as our 17th entry.
Now, I am guessing you have read the new pre-qualifying rules for the final 4 spots. Every driver that has confirmed outside the top 12 for event #1 are to be in the pre-qualification lobby at 8:30pm est on race night if they want to challenge for one of the final 4 spots, assuming none of the top twelve drop out prior. If any drivers confirmed currently in the top 12 drop out prior to race night,
Top 4 times get onto the main lobby grid. If any of the first 12 drivers that confirmed back out last minute and are unable to attend, we go further down the list. ( the 13th driver would bump in then the 14th and so on as needed until we have a secure 12 drivers.)

Example: 2 drivers that confirmed in the top 12 drop out today. We have 6 additional drivers confirmed at the moment. The 13th and 14th confirmed drivers bump into the top 12. If no more confirm, the remianing 4 are guaranteed a spot. If more confirm, then we go to the pre-qualification run off to get the final 4 spots filled.

Last point, based on what ive seen of your pace at Daytona, odds are goid for you to catch a spot.

ok - but this is a team event - so if team 1 gets 4 people in and team 2 gets three people in and team 3 gets 1 person in - not sure how that comes out -

team 1 now has an advantage of having 3 guys blocking for their lead driver and team 3 is on his or her own

bkocking is only going a little slower through either entey or apex to slow down the person behind u just a tad ......

yup it happens

I'm a newbie and have seen that😃

i live on planet earth 🤭
