Don't know how many of you live by some mountains and some resorts but...

The season is going to be kicking up in a couple of months so I just thought I'd start a thread

My ride

2001 K2 Zepplin with 2002 Ride Spi Bindings (the black ones)

I love where I live, right in the middle of an almost big city and 30 minutes away from I think 7 different ski resorts.

Anyone else snowboard?

When I can afford it and when my body needs a serious beating..... :D I know there's atleast three more members around here...that do.

;)

Yeah I ride!!!

Didn't bird2rock start this thread a while back? Anywho, I live in Vail, Colorado. North Americas largest ski resort.

I ride a 155cm Never Summer SL. Love it! Can't wait for the season to start.
I do wonder though, how much snow we will actually get considering the drought conditions that we are currently experiencing.

Hey Pako, did you happen to see the season pass prices that I posted up back in the 'pic's of yourself' thread?

Yep, and Bird will be most distressed, i'll have to rub her back when i get in to make up for it. The things i have to do for you guys, honestly. ;)

I ride a Sims 158 Enduro, bit old now and will probably be replaced with a Sims FS600.

I'm toying with the idea of a set of flow bindings this year but not sure about them as they're very expensive for what seems like little gain.

Me and Bird are going to Tignes next Febuary.... all of Febuary.

Yeeeehhhhhaaaaa!

Yeah I did.... I was with a loss of words.... I thought $900 was bad, but $1500...., why at those prices I'd get a job up there and have my ticket comped like someone else I know...:D

There was one year that we were the house band for this blues bar up at the mountain. Every night we played, we earned a voucher that would give us a all day pass for only $5.00......thems were the days....and them days are over...

:)

Check this place out!

If I have some time this winter, a group of us are planning to go. This place is sick! Some of the steepest lift accessable terrain. But this place is not for the faint of heart. With 55 degree slopes and required avalanch training you typical skier will not be here at this ski area!

Have a look:

Silverton Mountain

Dang it, I would love to go but I have....well ummmm.... Yeah I have to fix my bindings..and uh my board broke, I need to fix it...and my dogs need to be walked.

 That is some serious vert for sure. I really don't think my Iron Cross to arse plant move would be very health on that mountain...

I'm gonna go riding tomorrow! YAY, first day of the season for me and it's snowing now. Hopefully tomorrow will be a nice powder day for me!

Keep your fingers crossed!

What kinda board you got Boom Bexus

I'm riding a 2001 Neversummer SL 155cm.

It's a sweet board. Like it alot. Rides great in the pow and it's stiff enough for carving and plowing through the chop.

Here is a sport I would love to try and learn, but being a florida boy that has only seen snow once in my whole entire life, I don't think I would fair well! I am envious of you guys! :( ;)

where we live we don't have decent snow that we could board on, we have to travel usually to france to get decent conditons...i realise you would have to travel alot further than that, but hey it is soooooooooo worth it!! I haven't been boarding that long, this will be my 3rd year.
try it once and you will be hooked :D

Its only about 6-7 weeks till we go out to tignes for the month!!!
I can't wait :D

BIRD!!!! How the heck are ya? Good to see you darling! :D

Well, I went riding yesterday and the conditions were not bad at all. Much better than I had expected for it not having snowed in about 3 weeks. But right now it's dumping snow outside, so the conditions will certainly be great!
To be honest with ya, I'm a bit sore from taking a few spills on the hill yesterday. If you don't fall, your not pushing yourself hard enough right!

I got some new boots as well. Airwalk freerides. I like them alot but there a bit on the stiff side as I was having some issues with doing airs and being able to grab my board for added style! ;) Just couldn't poke my leg out far enough to get a grip on the board. Hopefully they will soften up a bit with some more riding.

So how ya been Bird? France is getting closer for ya!

With some of the prices that were being discussed earlier, thats what I am a afraid of. I think I will stick to my surfing the beaches, and racing my truck for sport right now!

I plan to be a millionaire, but I am not quite there yet!

It can sure get pricy. Right now Vail is charging $73 for a lift ticket.
Equipment can get expensive but you can also find some really great deals on it as well. And if you plan on renting equipment, I think the average price is about $20-30.

Give it a shot Magic!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
hi boom sweetie!
great to hear you are back in the snow on your board again.....and yes  you have to push yourself so it is expected that one will kiss the snow occassionally ;)
I am so excited for our trip to france, i got my new boots too! I have Vans omni (womens boots) and i had the heat activated liners put in for a perfect fit!! i can't wait to try them out. I'm hoping they will improve my boarding ............ well miracles can happen can't they? :D

I noticed a change in my riding with my new boots. I was riding on a pair of 10 year old Airwalks and was fine with that as they were still in great shape. But now with the new boots! WHOA! What a difference for the better!

The thing is, I wouldn't even know where to get started? Plus I highly doubt anyone could afford to go with me! I am sure I will do it in my lifetime, but this year or even next, doesn't look to promising!

hey magic i didn't start until i was 30yrs old! if i can start then, you can have a few years to save up
we will all have to meet up and take you for your first lesson!! :)

Were meeting in Vail next year right Bird! You can join up with us Magic! I promised Bird and Slip that I would go easy on them! :D

Are you up for it Magic??

When exactly in 2004? I am doing a fairly expensive trip to New York in December of 2003, so I need some time to recover!

It sounds like a blast though! I am not kidding, I would love to get out there!
