My car is driving by itself...

Should I quit now ?

I have a feeling that he will drive until he has no tires, no gas and will just cruise at XX km/h until he crosses the finish line...

Thanks PD.

I quit the race, losing an hour of racing time.

So what's the point of doing endurance races with saving points if there's a chance to lose everything because of that bug ?

Way to go Kaz, go to every car show, race everywhere in the world, give generic answers to those who have questions about the game... but don't fix the "suspend" option.

I'm definitely NOT doing any endurance races from now on.

Well you must of entered the pits either too fast, wrong area, or both. I did the 9 hour with 5 saves and haven't had any problem.

Enter the pits before the last corner at 50-80 mph, and you will never have any problems.

I did the 9h tsukuba with 10 pit stops, saving and exiting each time. Be extra careful driving into the pits and obey the rules. Also there are workarounds when you suffer from this bug. They are somewhere on this forum. Don't ask me though.

I entered the pits 3 times, no problems... 4th time, not so lucky.

Having a "chance" to mess up something RIDICULOUSLY LONG (that shouldn't be mandatory to get 100% completion) is beyond stupid. Endurance races shouldn't be more than 45 minutes.

Wasnt the fix to hold down brake and turn while it was auto exiting the pits,it finally gives control over to you?

Or you could just wait till dec.

Disagree. I spend longer just testing new custom tracks for the first time.

They should put an option in arcade mode to do enduros, but to "force" everyone to do them for game completion is stupid.

Since I wrote "force" everyone to do them (enduros), I expect to hear a couple of people saying "no one is forcing you"... bla bla bla thing.

Anyways, no enduros for me right now, and even after december...

I'll have to think about it.

Is it Tsukuba? I'm guessing there is a special way to pit there, because while i was drifting the car took over without being on pauze, near the pit.

Exactly!

I had a close call because I tried to duck in at the last second. I was about to hit a big pack of traffic and dove into the pits. The Auto Drive took over for a second and then it spit me back out before the front stretch.

2 saves and no issues.

And Endurance races should be anywhere from 2:45 to 24 hours. Just like real life. But i do wish we could switch off to our Bobs.

Well there isn't anything that you gain from the endurance races that you can't get by other means, except a shiny PSN trophy and an extra 1-2% towards completion, which are really not important if all you want to do is enjoy the game. There isn't any cars that are unobtainable without doing a 24 hour race (Like the Bentley Speed 8 in GT4).

A game of monopoly requires more endurance than a 45 minute virtual race. To say endurance races should not be more than 45 minutes is laughable.

What I find odd is the lack of medium length races in the game (i.e. 20 minutes to an hour). The endurance races are fine, it's just that the rest of the A-spec races are too short, most being 3 laps or less (Which in racing terms is like a 25 metre sprint is in athletics, whats the point?)

They really do need to sort out problems with the suspend race option, as it can be frustrating. But then, so are power cuts and family members turning off the console or pressing resume from the pause menu. I'd much rather suspend the race than run the risk of the other possibilities, which are more likely.

I disagree. IMHO, endurance races are the most enjoyable A-spec races GT5 has to offer.

For me, 45 minutes is pretty short for and endurance race. I think most basic A-Spec races should be that long. I agree with emmettbrown1955, the endurance races are the best part of A-Spec but Ben78 brings up a good point: there should be lots more A-Spec races with all kinds of different lengths and conditions. Tire wear, fuel consumption, pitting & pit strategy - why do we only get those conditions at the very end of the A-Spec races? I think every track should have it's own set of endurance races.

Exactly the sane thing happened to me. An hour left in the race. I figured I'd let the AI finish as I was so far ahead. The guys behind slowly caught me and two overtook me within the last 10th mins
I was about to get quite annoyed but when the race finished I just happened to be the 1st car the cross the line, even though there were cars in front of me on track and had completed more distance, I was awarded the win... No complaints here! But surely a glitch?

It wouldn't be an endurance race if it was less than 45 mins?????

Personally I think 4 hours is the bare minimum for it to be considered an endurance race.

The error is mainly at Tsukuba.
Had the same problem. Slowed to a crawl entering the pit lane right at the entry. Gave me the autodrive crap the next time I restarted.
When time allows I will do it the traditional way. Finish at one go for 4 hr enduro and leave ps3 on pause for longer races.
So far endure is quite fun. I bought all sorts of tires and try them out during race. Race soft makes up for any lost time when trying with comfort tires. Comfort hard allows for some drift practice. Comfort soft gives a good fight with Ai.

I've completed endurance races in Shift 2, they were 45 minutes long and enjoyed every single minutes of them. In GT5, after 10 minutes, I have to pause because it's boring.

In Shift 2, you get "rewards" for following the racing line properly, mastering corners, overtaking cars, drafting, etc. In GT5... nothing, nothing at all. It feels... dead.

But honestly, I stopped playing Shift 2 after the first week, because of bugs and all (not getting rewards after leveling...). I still play GT5 to collect cars (I have over 920 cars, with probably 8 duplicates, like stock versions of RM premiums) and do free runs in cockpit view.

But I seriously think that the reason we have races that are over 4 hours long... is because the game comes from Asia. You would never see that in a game made in America.

I do not expect to see such rewards in any sim-like games or one that strives to be. Not trying to be elitist but... It's pointless.

And For the part of the game having enduros because it originates from Asia... If a game wants to simulate endurance racing which can put it's day and night system into good use, there is a need for long enough races, though it is truly sad that we can't employ bobs to take over us just like in real life. Furthermore, endurance racing originates from europe right? Americans too run the Sebring 12hours and stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong at some parts..

If a race is only 45 mins long then whatever else you want to call it it's not an endurance race......I mean what exactly is it supposed to be an endurance off when it's that short?

I think the reason we have races that are over 4 hours long is because the series producer actually takes part in real world endurance races and understands what they are about. I think the endurances races are one of the best parts of the GT series. Especially with dynamic time and weather making them different every time you race them.

If you find the races boring then why race them? I'm not trying to tell you how to play the game but with so many different things to do in GT5 why not concentrate on something you will enjoy instead.

I dont understand some people being anti endurance its not about the trophys or the 1 to 2% extra completion its about strategy and calculation and most of all the experience of being in a long race and coming to the end so you can say YES!!!!! I made it

I think it depends what part of the pit lane you save the game in. I did 3 saves from when the car was in the pitlane and it worked fine. The 4th time i was a little impatient and saved the game while the car was still in the pit entry lane. Then when it restarted the car drove out of the entry lane and started doing the autodrive nonesense.

Mental endurance, aswell as physical. I like the in-race save feature as I don't want to be doing stints longer than 2-3 hours. I don't lack the endurance, I simply lack the time in my week to do an endurance race without doing an all nighter. My PS3 is loud, the LED lights from that and my surge protector socket are bright (I like to sleep in complete darkness), and also the rising cost of my electricity bill mean endurances in game are not that great. But at least they're doable now.

Do you use a wheel or a controller? It's much more immersive and fun with a wheel, and it doesn't get boring as quick.

You seem to be more concerned about finishing something quickly in order to be rewarded, than actually enjoying the process, which is competing in an endurance race. Maybe your priorities lie somewhere else?

This has happened to me online many times before, only my car would start driving competitively instead of like 50mph. the car still slows down in the start menu, but i usually have to ask someone in a lower place to pit me.

Im not sure if the car will pit itself, but this happens when i enter the pit at a really weird angle and high speed.

I had a similar problem in the 9 hour endurance race, but I pitted at 45mph each time and I saved after my car got behind pit wall, but I went to finish it and bob had just entered pit lane. He then proceeded to turn back onto the track before entering pit lane. He did this every time it reloaded the save.
