So I painted my C6 RM (C6R GT2) and I feel ripped off

So last night I took the plunge and dropped 250k or so on race modifying my C6 Z06.

After it comes back from race prepping I bring it over to the paint shop to get the trademark velocity yellow paint on the front of the car, and the black paint on the rear of the car.

So apparently only the front of the car gets painted at the spray booth and no matter what the back of the car stays sheet-metal silver.

WTF Polyphony? Who wants a 1/2 painted Corvette.

I was kind of disappointed the other night when I painted my 427 Cobra and my stripes disappeared. When I painted my Audi R8, it's got a vertical black stripe behind the door, and that was still there after painting. Led me to believe that other stripes would stay too, but no.

I like it as well. The yellow and black areas of the car they got right, in comparison to the real GT2 Corvette. The large silver area may not match the real car, but it reminds me of those sliver lightning bolt style slashes the GT2 car had running down the side. Plus, PD does not have a license to use the real car, so you should be happy with how close they came.

That's not a stripe, it's a piece of carbon fiber, and it cannot be painted.

So let me get this straight. They don't have a license to use the real car (which makes me wonder why not because they certainly flashed the cash for Ferrari, Lamborghini, JGTC and others), so due to the lack of this license, I can't paint the back of my car black? Ridiculous.

Rather than advanced painting schemes (lot of work for PD), I would rather they just showed a preview before you paint it. Did this with my corvette, and LUCKILY I actually like the result more than what I was expecting.

It seems hit and miss with spraying cars with existing stripes and such. I sprayed my BMW 1 series concept and it retained the black bonnet and stripes over the roof. 👍
But, I tried a spray job on the Shelby GT350 and it lost the stripes. Maybe it's a standard/premium issue. Either way, If i don't like a spray job, I just hit the PS button and quit game. Like it was just a bad dream :)

Painted my RM Evo 9 in a colour that one of the concept Toyota 86's came in.

Was a pearlesant purple and green and I have to say, it looks stunning with the chrome vinyl finish. Best 2000 credits I'll ever spend!

I think the whole painting system isnt really cool...
nice to collect colors but you can use them only once? and it cost you 2000 credits? and you cant see any preview of the outcome? whats the point??
I got lucky most of my prize cars came in black cause I like to have all my cars in black but even than i ran out of black credits pretty quick.. not cool, not cool at all..

The lack of paint options is just stupid. Other racing games got it, so it shouldn't be too hard to implement a preview and the possibility to just select (two seperate) colours from a colour palette instead of spending 300.000 credits on 'Rosso Scuderia' so you can repaint your Shelby red with white stripes, only to find out that it'll be just solid red.

Zonda cannot be painted?????????

When you paint the C6 RM, do the sponsors remain on the car, or does it become solid yellow or whatever colour?

I have that with mine aswell and I think it looks quite nice personally,

Maybe a bit off topic, but was that the V10 or V8 audi that you painted? I want to repaint my 4.2L V8 version, but I'm afraid I'll lose the carbon sideblade.

i had similar problem with trying to paint a MINI to get whole car 1 colour to get rid of an annoying white roof. Thank god i used a cheap colour. But still a waste.

Sponsors remain on all race modified cars.

I thought it saves when you press X, thanks, kinda complicated but good to know. 👍

yes it can, mine is yellow, the strange thing is that the dashboard, paddle shifters and the centre of the steering wheel also got painted, it's everything yellow lol

You can just gift the car to a second account, and then gift the car and paint to your main account, then you have one more paint chip.

i can't paint it because the game doesn't let me paint the rims, maybe yamauchi loves that golden rims and he doesn't want anyone to paint them lol

I think the save occurs either when you exit the 'paint car' screen, or when you exit GT Auto. Once, I used several different paint chips to see which I liked, then quit and only applied the one I wanted. Before I discovered the quit method I would do One-Make races to see the same car in other colours for inspiration.

Never thought of that one make idea, plannage right there.

I love my One-Make races 👍 Such a shame you don't get any money for doing them.

Off topic, but important: Another feature that I feel is missing is an Event/Championship Maker. Where you could select how many races, which tracks, one-make or varied opponents, etc. and actually get some money :)
Also was discussing online features with my mate and thought that an Online Team Race option would be very cool. i.e. players pair up to form multiple teams, and a championship event could be played. Could have points for both player champion and team champions 👍

Do you happen to have a pic of the car? I haven't seen that combo yet and would really love to see it. I have a crazy fetish for evo's as I tend to drive one in real life.

This is GT5 not Forza 3...oh wait...

See, this is part of the reason why I sold my PS3 and GT5. It only has two things going for it - premium cars and the driving physics. Everything else is tacked on and poorly thought out.

Real simple solution...

Gift a black car to a friend, have them gift it back to you and bam, you have two paint tickets for that color.

Works everytime.
