That's kind of stupid though. You'd think that since it's being awarded from a non-profit, that taxes would not have to be paid.

Anything for a buck with these damn governments.

Kill it, kill it with fire!

My condolences to your sister...

Oh please people, she won the damn thing!

Is this getting into another Prius bashing thread?! Seriously, she got a Prius for 12 bucks, 12 bucks! I'd be the happiest man on earth to get a brand new car for 12 bucks. All this bitching about how it's not fast, nor fun to drive, who really cares? The point of a car is to bring you from point A to point B without falling apart, what more can you wish? What's the point in getting a super fast car if you never can use it properly.

In all seriousness, how can you not be happy with a brand new car that you got for only 12 bucks?!

Agreed. I'm not a big Prius fan but there are an awful lot of people in this thread acting like knobs. Be happy for the OP - he's got a car out of his sister's good fortune. Be happy for his sister - she's won a car, and a brand new one at that, and one which is overpriced brand new too, at that.

We get it: You don't like Priuses. Getting very boring now.

You thought I was kidding? That or a sledgehammer, talk about letting off a good amount of steam.

It's really none of your concern what my opinion is, if I want to post that I very damn will. I understand that she won it and good for her, and good for Prosthetic that he's getting his sisters focus, you happy now?

You posted your opinion. Bram posted his. So?

Congrats to your sister for the win, Prosthetic. In all seriousness, is she going to keep it or sell it and buy something else?

I was just pointing it out due to the opposition of a silly suggestion.

Do you have any pictures of either car Prosthetic?

My sister isn't going to sell it... She has money and she is getting offered a new 25 grand car, THAT will save her a ton of money. Shes keeping it. I really don't care about the Prius bashing as I don't like them either... BUT it isn't my car.

No engine swaps... I'll be happy with the current engine... if I want to make it faster I'll do something about it later on down the line.

Guys, this is a car enthusiast forum. Can we not make jokes here about how the Prius isn't exactly the most desirable car for people who enjoy driving?

I think we all get it (no matter how much we hate the Prius) that she is pretty lucky to get the car for nearly free. Hell, she's lucky to do that for just about any car that you can get for anything more than $100 on Craigslist.

Of course you can make jokes about the car, but every thread where the word "Prius" is mentioned in turns quickly into a Prius-bash thread. I can't remember a single thread in which the Prius hasn't been bashed...

Besides, I think there are a LOT of people that would love to drive a Prius. Driving a rusty '80s Kadett in -22 degrees Celcius temperatures isn't exactly any fun, and getting into a '92 Legacy in which the brakes squeel at a 120 db's isn't making it better. Prius? Yes please!

Thats awesome if you ask me! Your sister's got a $12 car essentially which I'm sure she would like especially if she's just using it to get from A to B, I'd say it was perfect! And in return your getting a Ford Focus as your first car, also for free! That's some serious luck!

I mean who cares about engine swaps and stuff, this is going to be his first car I'm sure a Focus will be plenty fast enough for his liking. I say congratulations, I hope you and your sister enjoy your new cars!

Jokes? No problems. But as Bram mentioned, it happens every time the Prius is mentioned. It's not so much humour any more, so much as a bunch of elitist snobs bashing a car because it's not a performance machine.

Exactly.

Car enthusiast forum?

A car enthusiast can be anything as long as you love cars. V8 muscle, sport cars, K-cars, electric cars...etc

Nothing wrong with loving the prius. Heck..I consider myself a hardcore car freak. But do I like the prius? err...yes and no.

Yes, I would love to drive it, just to see how its feels like, how it performs, and just gawk at all the high technology.

No I would not buy it as a daily driver with my own money. There are better cars out there that will give the same economy while offering more performance.

Oh...back on topic, Congrats to prosthetic's sister on winning the Prius and him on inheriting the focus!

Ok, now I'm being serious. She won't be getting this car for $12. If that was the case, I would have accepted the terms for winning a Civic a couple years ago if I knew it had only cost me $5.

So will she be getting it for the full $25k or whatever a new Prius is?

No, she isn't. Yes, she'll probably have to pay taxes on it, but is that going to add up to $25k? No, yet again it isn't.

She's still won a brand new car, and the OP has benefitted pretty damn well from this.

Prius or not, it's still being given to her. I'd say that's something to be happy about.

Or maybe I'm out of touch with society, and people even moan about free stuff these days

Those rolleyes are unnecessary as it actually happens these days. Give a kid a Nintendo DS and it screams "Where the hell's my PS3!" :ouch:

Did I say she'll have to pay the price tag on it? No, I didn't. But she will not get it for $12 as Pros. kept saying in his last post, and as you just said so yourself.

No one's moaning about free stuff, but when it comes to cars, nothing is free. These people who continuously think they just won a car for a $50 raffle ticket or can get a second car for $1 are going to be surprised when they see the terms of the contracts.

So, drop that little attitude you're pushing on people b/c you can't stand everyone showing their dislike for the Prius.

Attitude? Don't throw stones in glass houses.

I don't care if people don't like the Prius. It's just rather boring hearing the same, predictable responses time and time again whenever the car is mentioned. It's worse than the fanboyish drivel people harp on about with the GT-R.

Then guess what. Ignore it like a mature person does.

It is the internet, you can like, not look at stuff, ya know this right?

Attitude crew, sign out please

Why should I ignore the thread? I'm quite happy posting in here, I did so in order to congratulate the OP for both his sister's and his own good fortune, though unfortunately there are always those who come in to urinate on others' bonfires.

Did I say ignore the thread? No, I didn't, so read buddy. Ignore the haters or whatever you wish to call them, and continue on.

Of coarse shes going to have to pay taxes on it.. I've said that a few times...

She is getting a base model and she pays for any options she wants.

And get over this whole argument. No one cares.

On the Focus - If you think you can do it and afford it, a manual tranny swap might be a good idea. I thought I heard you had an Auto earlier.

and the Prius engine swaps...I was just joking, although I'd love to see a 3S-powered, Antilag equipped Prius, driving by a Seattle coffee stand and firing gunshot backfires from the exhaust. I'd bet it'd be fast, too, aerodynamic as those things are.

Personally... I think I will prefer a manual tranny considering how much traffic we have here in the Bay Area. I'm not going to do anything major... But I'm going to get some new wheels somewhere down the road.

Oh yeah the car is a sedan to whoever was asking.
