So the 1.18 update has rendered game useless...

I've done all the suggested things, deleted all the updates, let it sit half a day re-downloading the updates, let it sit another half a day re-installing the updates only to be repeatedly told there was an error during installation, or installation failed, etc.

Game worked fine a couple of updates ago, but I haven't been able to play since the last 2. What gives?

I'd sell the game but knowing it doesn't work I'd feel bad passing it off. I've spent more time trying to get the game to play than I have playing it in the last 3 months. I'd love to ask for a refund but the "support" sends you to sony, and sony says talk to poly...


so um. what gives?
 
Is the problem after all the actual updates are done and when you go into the game to do the in game update it happens? If so I literally just got this fixed today...So what you do is
1. delete all of the updates

2. hit triangle over the gt6 disk in the xmb and click on search for updates and (download them all this way, NOT by going into the game)

3. disable internet connection.

4. Now go into the game offline and do the in game update.
This was the only way I could get it to work for me.:cheers:👍

I will try this tomorrow I think. I haven't tried this way. I'm hoping what I'm letting it do right now takes, cause it was kinda funky and different from what it has been doing, but it says I've got 1160 min left and I'm trying to decide how much longer I'm going to wait before I throw dirt3 back in and actually race.

Yes it was doing this from the forced update, can't play the game without the update, but the update never takes so I can never play the game.

finally got it to run. Told me I had 5min left for like 3 hours, was up past 4am letting it install. But at least single player is now playable again. I bought gt6 after playing gt5 and not being able to play online thinking I would like online play, but all I could figure out was quick races, and now I can't even get that to work. I pick it and it just sits there with the loading icon, and the music eventually stops and I have to back out of the game. ugh. I don't think I'll waste any more money on gran turismo games. They make it entirely too difficult to play the game. lol
 
Oh I forgot to mention, much like trying to do a quick race, if I try to go into my garage, it crashes the game... yay.

The problem is it has nothing to do with the GT6 game it is your console is the problem, old hardware to new hardware sometimes you may encounter intermittent problems. I had problems with my old console early this year with GT6 so I got a 160gb PS3 slim and have not had any problems with GT6 since.
 
They know what hardware is going into the consoles so...

Thats what I'm trying to run it on, 160gb ps3 slim...

problem I'm most having now is that the game will load, I try to go into a race and it freezes and locks the system up. Seriously after fighting it more than 2 days to get the update installed, I've gotten to play it less than all the time I've put in getting it to run... It just freezes and the only thing I can do is hit the ps button and quit the game which brings the famous 3 beeps and the system restarts.
 
I finally bought GT6 this week. My PS3 spent the whole night dowloading the updates. And now when I start up the game it says preparing update, then start saying 390 mins left. Then update failed. Is this the .02 update? Should be huh, because it doesnt say what update it is installing. I take it the PS3 is going to be installing all updates one after the other after restarting the PS3 after it is done installing with an update? So 18 times restarting and installing. This is great. What can I do about it? Does someone have a specific thread for this? Thank you!
