This thread is for people to express what kinds of cars they like PLEASE! No Fighting!!!

Me:

I love JDM styled cars but not ricers most people get them confused but there is a difference!

I do not like american cars that much but there are a few out there I like

2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
1998 Ford SVT Contour

I also like European cars such as BMW's Audi's and especially the Mini Cooper

I wish i could put pics up but the GTP says every file I try to upload says Invalid "oh well" sigh...

Let's hear what everyone likes!

,

That aside, I tend to prefer RWD to all else, and generally design philosophy over technology. Ala, the NSX and LF-A are much purer in my mind than the most over rated car of all time, the GT-R.

You can just look through what I've owned to get a solid idea of my tastes in cars. The JDM fad is a bit silly, because most of the time most people have no idea what is actually "JDM" and what isn't, and even if it is, it isn't always better. Of course, VW stance people make me want to punch puppies...

It is just easier to say what I don't like than what I do like, since what I like varies from brand to brand and year to year from that brand. C5/C6 ZO6 are FTW. Anything before that is fail. Early Mustangs are great, most everything else sucks. A handful of Toyota's make the list, including some Corollas, but the AE86 is rubbish. And on and on.

Also, in before thread turns into a flame war.

I honestly think I like every car out there; each has it's own purpose and stronghold. Except the Prius, 🤬 that car. (jokes)

But, if I had to pick what cars I like the best, it would be RWD cars, with great performance. Like, Porsche, for example. And I agree with Azuremen, the NSX is an awesome car. Probably in my Top 10 Best Cars list. 👍

I'm more into the vintage American Muscle. They may be impractical, but look awesome and have a goosebump-giving sound. I just love the look of the 1970 Chevy El Camino!

I like cars that don't try to fit fads, that has tried to put in some effort. I like as much of whats in the import thread as the hot rod and custom thread, yet another white civic or blue skyline is just as boring as yet another flamed 32 ford or copper merc but regardless of model a smooth clean car works for me. I like cars of culture rather than off the shelf. I like cars not countries.
plus like Azuremen said what I like varies from brand to brand and year to year, renault and citroen are putting out some great cars at the moment, imo.

For a quick generalization of what I like, pretty much every classic muscle car from the late 60's is what I like.

If you want specifics...
'67 Corvette (427 baby!)
'68 Mercury Cougar (My car)
'69 Corvette (ZL-1s are nice)
'70 Plymouth GTX
'69 Dodge Charger
'67 - '69 Shelby GT500
'70 Chevy Chevelle SS (454 FTW!)
and many more I can't think of right off the top of my head.

I also like Lamborghinis, a few Toyotas, a Mitsubishi (the 3000GT if you were wondering)...

Actually, it would take quite a while to list every car that I like. More time than I care to take.

I like anything that has sport too it. American Muscle is my fav anything pre 72, followed by late 80's to mid 90's Imports (Nissan, Toyota). I absolutly love Evo's and STi's, also in this order Audi, Benz, BMW. Of couse all the supercars from everywhere.

Top 2 all time Fav's.... Any Corvette or Viper.

60's and 70's American muscle cars. Mega horse, tire melting beasts from days gone by.

Being an owner, I have a soft spot for the, wait for it... Ford Ranger! Surprise, surprise.

Also, being an American, I tend to have a liking for American cars. But really, I like all cars!

I liked the Contour before Ford USA got their grubby mitts on it.

I mean what a ridiculous bodykit. And why have they given it a fat lip?

My dad had one when I was growing up. It was an 86 with only 2 options. 4WD and Supercab. A hunter special and the salesman (at the dealership) is a former customer when my Dad was a salesman at a gunstore. It was sold in 2001.

Right now I'm really into the Hellaflush/stancework cars. When done right, they look awesome. The prerunners out in California are pretty cool too. I love the reverse rake and huge fenders and tires. I also have soft spot for German saloons, like the M5 or older S8. And the smaller M3s and RS4s also catch my eye. Any Japanese sports car can be added on, like the NSX, Evo, Impreza, 240, Skyline, I've always loved those. And Japanese saloons like the Toyota Crown or Nissan Gloria. Supercars are a given, Lamborghini not as much, but I still admire them. Last but not least is the muscle cars. Living in Michigan I see them all the time, but they are always cool. And when they are set up as gassers, well then it's just perfect. So basically I like everything, hybrids are ok, but I'll pass. And FWD cars aren't my favorite either, but there's so any of them around it's hard to ignore them, but I have all RWD :D. Oh, I forgot rat rods, them be awesome too.

I'm a rather superficial guy, and I much prefer a car that looks good, or failing that, has good proportions. Cars I like because of this? Honda Z-Act, Toyota Matrix.

But I also have the utmost respect for simply good cars, regardless of looks or problems. This includes old 3 series, Gen. 1 RX-7s.

Then there are cars, that despite all reason, I still want. Includes the Mitsubishi Starion, Ford Ranger, and the Volvo 240. Yes, I do have reasons for them, but I'm a bit short on time.

Generally speaking I love Australian cars (as if anyone here doesn't know that ), but I also really like most all decent American cars, 6cyl sports cars from the world over, muscle cars from the world over, and all sorts of stuff. What I don't like is probably a shorter list, anything with a rotary from FC RX-7 and older (really like the shape of the FD), most 4cyl sport-compacts from say the '70s and earlier, and maybe some from the '80s. I can understand why people like them, but if you ask me an early '70s Celica or Datto for example has been waaaaaaaay over done in their time, and they just generally don't "do it" for me. Then again, every now and then I'll have a little phase where I admire them mildly.:sly:

Wasn't the NSX pricer than the GTR?

Only by a lot.;) I think.........

Hmm, its very hard to be general about these sort of things because its easy to carry a preference for certain cars that don't particularly fit you're normal 'type' ( a bit like women ). I tend to like cars with a strong racing background, cars that are designed with functionality first, and form afterwards.

I tend to prefer simple and lightweight ,to heavy and overcomplicated, but again there are exceptions. I generally like cars which I consider to have a bit of character.

If you think the above statements couldn't be any more vague, its because I have such a broad taste in cars, its hard for me to put my finger on what I like.

It's difficult to recall everything I like but I'll try.

I prefer power over weight, I love big displacement engines, especially muscle cars. I love anything AMG these days, they make IMO the best sounding engines in the world. I like a car with a long hood (Viper, SLS, E-type, DB9) and my guilty pleasure are the personal luxury car from the mid 70's.

This. And, I like cars. Not all cars, but I can find something I really like from just about every manufacturer and country of origin on the planet.

I like quite a range of stuff. I like most cars actually, in some way, even pretty crummy ones. Even a bad car is still a good method of transport compared to most other things. If I had to choose a few categories though...

- Small, lightweight sports cars (eg. Mazda MX5, Lotus Elise, Smart Roadster, Toyota MR2 etc)
- Smaller sports saloons (generally anything up to 3-Series size, so M3s, AMG C-Classes, Alfa Romeos of various descriptions, Audi RS4, Accord Type R and down to much more simple stuff like older Renaults, Mercs, Jags and so on)
- Eco cars (yeah, shoot me. Hybrids, EVs etc right up to more wacky concepts yet to hit the road - as long as they're actually interesting, stuff like the Prius doesn't really do anything for me)
- Most Italian stuff
- A lot of French cars (I'm a bit of a Francophile)
- Most old and new British stuff
- Most classics
- A lot of vintage cars

...yeah, just most stuff, really. I generally make exceptions for individual vehicles than picking a particular class of cars I dislike.

Big cars. As all-rounders, that is. Because I see absolutely no point in buying something that can seat two people comfortably and necessitates putting the groceries on the back seat because the trunk is ridiculously small, when you can buy a proper five seater with a cubic metre of room for not that much more money. Similarly I see little point in getting a sedan when the estate of the same model is very similarly priced and of similar size but offers a far superior chance of actually hauling something.

I can't see the point in slamming a car to the ground, neither in giving it wheels far bigger than what it was designed for. The entire "Stanceworks" scene is pretty much my idea of how to ruin a perfectly good car.

Going by those criteria my "money isn't a problem" pick would probably be either an Audi RS6, Subaru Legacy Outback or Volvo XC70. Audi for its power, Subaru for its capabilities in rough conditions and Volvo because I happen to like Volvos. Then again I wouldn't turn down a Subaru Forester either but it might be a bit too SUV.

Pretty much any car manufacturer that ends with the letter 'i'.👍

Pagani
Ferrari
Bugatti
Maserati
Audi
Lamborghini

I generally like most cars out there. However, I especially like either the crazy super cars that are very shoutty (Pagani Zonda, Koenigsegg, etc.), classic cars that was historically important/genre defining, or practical daily all rounders who happen to be very fast (BMW M5, Mercedes C/E/S AMG, Audi S4/6/8). I love the idea of being able to drive around daily in comfort when you don't want or need to go fast, be able haul people and stuff, and still have tons of speed and fun when you want to.

For me, the only thing better than a M5 is a M5 Touring.

I like cars with personality.

Lightweight Roadsters (Brits and the Miata)
Muscle/Pony Cars (Mustang, Charger, Chevelle)
Italian Supercars (De Tomaso, Lamborghini, Pagani)
French Citycars (Citroen DS)

I also have a soft spot for cars that try to push the envelope in one way or another. Citroen DS, Tesla, and even cars like the Aston Martin Lagonda and the De Lorean which failed miserably.

Although I find cars like the BMW M series, Nissan GT-R, and Bugatti Veyron impressive, I can't love them. There just isn't much there to make me smile. Also, top-speed cars such as the Veyron are like Disney popstars. They get 15 minutes of fame, then get one-upped and end up giving lapdances to 50 year old tween movie directors.

Oh, and I have a special love for hatchbacks (VW GTI, Honda Fit, Volvo C30). They're the rebellion against 2.5 ton SUV's.
