Hey guys, been following gtplanet for a while, but first time posting.

I'm a big fan of racing simulators. I own GT5, Forza 4 and iRacing, among others, so I play in all plataforms.

That being said, I'm looking for a racing wheel that works in all plataforms. I had a logitech momo racing wheel, but it was FAR from what I wanted. It was my first experience with a racing wheel, but I've been playing racing simulators for over 15 years.

It's about time to get a decent racing wheel. I was THIS close to purchasing the G27, but then I read a review saying the fanatec makes the G27 feel like a toy. And that, I do not want. But at the same time, I do not want to spend a load of money on one. I wanted the G27 for being cheap (230 bucks in a store close to my house), but Im prepared to go around 500 for a good one. Goes without saying, I want a six-speed manual shift and awesome pedals with clutch.

So, knowing nothing about racing wheels, I come to you guys, for advice. Any help is welcome!

Thank you all in advance!

I'm not quiet sure with the American currency but if I am not all wrong you might be able to get the Thrustmaster T500RS + TH8RS shifter for around 650-700 bucks. The wheel its self would cost 500-550 alone with just f1 shifting pedals.

Fanatec wheels seem really popular and awesome but I have no idea when it comes to prices :/

CSR ELITE
CSR
CLUBSPORT GT3 AND GT2
CLUBSPORT PEDALS

Some of these from above you can look at. I have the logitech g27 with a playseat evolution white. I'm happy with it but I got it so cheap, so it cant compete with price/performance rate. 245 bucks for the seat, wheel and gear shift holder.

Hope this might help ;)

I have that stand and it's very sturdy and solid, considering it's not a full cockpit. If you're a DIYer you'd have better results building your own cockpit.

I don't have much space in my living room so using the couch would be ideal, which means no cockpit unfortunately. However, the base: If it's very sturdy, firm, then I'll go with it. The one question I have for you is: When you're shifting and durning the wheel abrupdly with high force feedback, does the support moves or vibrates? Or does it feel completely solid?

I saw a review and every time the guy used the H-pattern shifter, the whole support moved 2 inches down, and then back up. That, I'd hate.

If you have it bolted up properly there's basically no lateral movement. The upright can deflect a bit forward and back (1-1.5cm in either direction), but it's pretty minor, and when holding the wheel it doesn't move much at all. The so-called chopsticks that hold the shifter in place and feed into the wheel base are pretty crummy and they'll probably annoy you. Get the shifter adapter for the wheel stand and you'll have a much more solid mount for the shifter.

I suppose you're talking about this:

And if so, is it possible to attach that shifter support to this:

So, in my checkout at the moment I have:

Forza Motorsport CSR wheel value pack XL
$359.95

RennSport Wheel Stand V2
$129.95

Shifter Set Adapter
$19.95

Total: $509.85

Any other last minute thing someone wants to recomend?
Also, I think this is USA website. I live in Toronto... I'll probably have to pay tax on it, eh?

For using a wheel on everything you need a Fanatec.

This. The TR500RS or G27 don't work with the Xbox.

Can/May i ask something? Maybe it is in our interest too.

Does someone have experience with the Wheel and how good it works with GT, Forza and other racing games? Thx in advance.

If I were you, i'd look on the Fanatec CSR XL pack.

The problem with the regular CSR is that it's not very good if you compare it to, for example, a T500RS or the CSR-E/CSW. The upside to the XL package is you're getting the CSR Elite pedal- it's better than the pedals you get from Thrustmaster or Logitech.

If the OP wants to get away from a toy-like FF, the CSR , in my opinion, won't do since it's very comparable in performance to the G27. But as others have pointed out, you get across platform compatibility. Once you put Xbox/Forza into the equation, you're limited to one really good wheel (CSR-E), two rather decent, slightly outdated wheels (CSR and GT2 both also from Fanatec) and a few selection of cheap plastic wheels.

mykem, I currently have the GT2 and the CSR Elite and wouldn't describe the FFB delivery of either one as toylike, though the CSR Elite is clearly superior. Does the lighter CSR rim cause the FFB to feel significantly different compared to the GT2?
