LOL, nice. $600 seems a little out of control. I went to Best buy after Church they had just sold the last one about an hour before. They took 4 hours to sell out according to the BB employee. The launch titles are definitely better equipped than say....other consoles at launch day.
Graphically, what's your impression? What would you compare it to? Game play?
Graphically, well, like other people said around the internet, the Wii is only slightly more powerful than the original Xbox. Zelda looks pretty good, same thing with ExciteTruck. They're definitely not "next-gen", no hi-res textures, or extremely good modeling, or other features found in 360/PS3 games. However, I'm using composite cables on an HDTV, so when the component cables come out it'll definitely be looking pretty darn good.
As for gameplay, well, all I can do is

. Wii Sports is pretty amazing. Tennis is very, very fun, even without the ability to move your character (so you just swing at the ball). Baseball is pretty interestng. When you have the pitcher throwing the ball at you, and then you swing at it, it's a sweet experience, kinda like when you do that type of thing at an arcade. It's kind of hard to not hit it into foul territory, and when I hit it into fair territory, the AI either catches the ball or... it catches the ball. It's pretty tricky. Otherwise, everything else isn't really like "WOW, that's sweet". Just generic, and it seems like it was made to showcase the Wiimote's abilities.
Zelda is amazing. Maybe it's really the first time I seriously played a Zelda game, but in all serious it's just 👍 👍. Words just fail me.
ExciteTruck is severely underrated. If I played it with a normal controller, it'd be boring just twiddling a thumbstick. It's a great blast to play, tilting your controller to turn, boosting over a large hill, etc etc. It reminds me of Hydro Thunder that you see at game arcades; the graphics aren't really impressive, and you'd easily get sick of it after several hours of play, but when you do play it, you have so much fun it's not really all that humorous.
I haven't played Rayman or some of the Wii Sports titles yet (Bowling and Boxing), nor have I tried the online functionality, nor have I tried the GameCube backward compatibility. But really, here's my quick summation: it's like an upgraded GameCube with a killer controller. It doesn't seem last-gen, but it doesn't seem next-gen either. I think 4-5 years from now, the Wii will either be a massive success like the DS or it'll be a total failure.
