We (GT) lost Infineon due to licensing I believe.

Do I think NASCAR is all about driving left? No, I own a set of eyes and have seen a fair few races where NASCAR cars turn right.

If you'd like a challenging road course to drive your NASCAR cars on then try Monza.

No.

1) I don't care for your blatant "stop belittling my favorite motorsport" thread. You're not the first person to whine about people scoffing at NASCAR, and you won't be the last.

2) We're all fully aware of the Sprint Cup's two token road races. You haven't astonished anybody.

3) I should note that NASCAR runs on the more simple version of the circuit rather than the full circuit. Just saying....

4) Watching them run around a couple road courses doesn't change anybody's opinions of NASCAR, and running a couple token road circuits doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of their races really is just turning left all the time (no right turns).

It isn't in the game for the same reason that 7,896 other real-world tracks aren't in the game - they can't realistically put all tracks in the game. It would take way too much time and resources, and take up a whole stack of Blu-ray discs just for the tracks.

EDIT:
And why is this in GT5 Seasonals?

1) and your not the first person to get on here with the attitude that what ever you think is the greatest form of racing "IS" the greatest form of racing=narrow minded jerk

2)wasnt trying to astonish anyone just inform the illiterate and uncultured.

3)Yes it does run on a slightly different circuit to keep the speeds up as they dont accelerate or corner as fast or as well as an F1 car. That said, the nascar races, mileage wise, are 30-50% longer than the F1 races at the same track. By adjusting the track to nascar they can keep the speeds up to keep the time it takes to run the race to an average comparable to the other races on the schedule.

4) As I pointed out to another poster, another ignorant comment from a tiny mind.

Im not here to say that Nascar is the best form of motorsports, I like all motorsports from go-karts to powerboat racing. The problem I have is the people that get on these forums and want to bash a sport that they know absolutely nothing about, and that shows their true ignorance.

And the Watkins Glen track was in all the previous GT games so thats why I was wondering why they didnt include it in the game. I never asked about the other 7,896 tracks in the world now did I? and why is this in the seasonals section? Dont ask stupid questions, it has been asked and answered, if you had bothered to read the entire post!

I don't like NHRA cars so im going to bash on how anyone can get traction with such big tires...
Nascar has a rich history which they are trying to make people forget. Do some research into it and maybe the haters will have a little more appreciation for the sport.

PD turned the rich history you mentioned (which I do agree with) into something different. Most of the trailers for GT5 depict the spinouts, crashes and other nonsense that sometimes happens, and it gets into the minds of others that NASCAR is all about crashing. Sad.:grumpy:

please spare us your lessons. didn't know florida was the epicenter of culture and litterature

I think Nascar is the lowest form of racing and is mind-numbingly boring. I have watched it and know enough about it to form an informed opinion. didn't they re-schedule the race today because they don't race in the rain? :P

seriously calling others illiterate and uncultured because they don't like Nascar is just plain stupid. in fact Nascar probably has more illiterate and uncultured fans than any other motorsport. Some of their drivers also fit the bill, like Tony Stewart, who is infamous for running other drivers off the track on purpose.

if Nascar was so great then don't you think it would be popular all over the world? simple answer is that it's not for good reasons.

"You Might Be a Redneck NASCAR Fan if... You think the last four words of the National Anthem are "Gentleman start your engines!"...."

PS for such a litterate and cultured individual, you sure picked the right section on the forum

I don't think this is true. No, I'm not trying to be a jag. However, Lunarwolf is being just a bit closed minded. Sorry bubbah, circle track racing may not be as popular in the lands of sand as it is stateside. That does not mean it doesn't have an international fan base.

Going to an F1 or any other road race is as boring as a stuffy nose. As long as those circuits are, all you see is one frickin turn!!! Yeah thrilling. NASCAR has always been about the fans. Even at a 2.5 mile super speedway, from a majority of seats, fans can see everything.

Again another moron who posts without reading the entire thread. An yes the rain was rescheduled due to rain because nascar doesnt race in the rain, THAT IS THE RULES. Besides that, there are anywhere from 80k to 300k people at stock car races and its a spectator sport so they delay the races for the fans. F1 cars go ahead and race because its no big deal for the couple thousand fans there that go home at the first sprinkle while the race keeps going.
And BTW since you brought up where i live. I was born and raised in Chicago, where I went to college for mechanical engineering and I have an IQ of 148. So no im not a "REDNECK nascar fan", I appreciate all different motorsports but seem to find alot of narrow minded idiots on here that wouldnt know an american V-8 from a wankle rotary or a speedway car from a corr truck

Yeah it does, you're just a Midwestern redneck NASCAR fan! ;)

Greetings from the other side of the pond, err lake effect snow machine and the area where the engineering graduate #39 driving Ryan Newman cut his teeth on little short tracks! Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the TORC Mud Bog at Red Bud ;)

You are right, I was thinking of infineon. you are also right about nascar having fans all over the world. Go to japan in a crowd of people that dont speak english and say "Nascar" and most of them will know what you are Talking about. Nascar is really big in Japan, why do you think we have Toyota's in nascar now. We have exhibition races there every year. And hello, the creator of Gran Turismo is from Japan and a Nascar fan, does that make him a redneck? Kazunori thinks Nascar is a motorsport and thought enough of it to add it to the game, You gonna say he is wrong, that he doesnt know what he is talking about?

(none of that rant was aimed at you davethestalker)

I am going to agree with the Nascar fan base. If you ever have the opportunity to go watch a race the entertainment value is priceless! The stereotype of the people at those races is pretty much dead on! I'm not saying every Nascar fan is like that but from my experience of going to races I have never seen such a meeting of rednecks. And that's only here in Arizona, I can't imagine how it must be at a track in the south like Taladega or Bristol.

Even though Nascar has an aracade feeling in GT5 I'm glad they put it in. There are a lot of people that enjoy the sport and I think it was a smart move putting it in there.

im from the UK. I've known NASCAR do track races since i was about 9 years old. because i used to play this:

it had Watkins Glen in it.

@ Cyborg: Watkins glen ? I haven't heard of it (until now) and i've played GT3, 4proloque & 5prologue.
Maybe i've missed it.

My personal opinion is that GT is about normal boring roadcars and i prefer the old models wich doesn't get attention in other games. (on topic) I like real live tracks to be included but F1/dtm (and NASCAR to a little lesses extend) i can do without. If i had the choice; NASCAR before dtm/F1 but after everything else. And to watch them i'd choose the same order, if i would watch at all, i think motorcycle racing and rallying are more fun.
Still i'm curious why i haven't noticed watkinsglen before ?
Greetings (and don't bite each others heads off*) stano666

-i was typing when at the same time this post appeared so forgive my double post-
LOL Has anyone won the trip to Daytona yet ? I guess this is a pc game so i won't win.
But it looks like Watkins glen is an oval and having 2 oval tracks seems unnecessary.
BTW 1st person view:tup:👍👍 cockpit camara rules!
Greetings (again) stano666 :)

Anyone else find it odd that the Rolex GrandAm race on Saturday was on the short track at The Glen? When Tony and Lewis did their exhibition a month ago, Stewart enjoyed the long course with "the boot".

The race is live on ESPN right now (11:37 ET, 30 laps to go)

In that sentence, NASCAR could be changed for pretty much any other race series that is popular in its region of origin but not as popular in the whole world.

Different cultures have different tastes, its that simple.

The reason why PD included NASCAR is because of how big it is in North America. I don't know many racing series that are that popular in the world.

But anyway, why all the bashing about how people watching NASCAR are rednecks and other stupid stereotypes.

You might not like NASCAR and that is your choice, but no need to insult those who do.

And of course, those who like NASCAR, there is no need to hate those who don't and try to shove the fact NASCAR is awesome down their throats.
